Please enjoy this fiction from AD Miles
Prower. It’s a true story, though… Major Trouble A
recollection by Admiral Pete Mitchell Confirmed
by Admiral Miles Prower 25 ABY ATR Nail-1 M/PLT Daedalus was long gone now and
secretly Major Pete “Tex” Mitchell felt happy that
he was done with refresher training. After two years on half-pay as a reserve
officer, he was done with wiping grease and banging dents out of starships in
the Outer Rim. Come to think of it, that was what he was doing before even
joining the New Imperial Navy. He looked down at his data slate and looked
over his new orders. To be back in the seat of a TIE Defender once again,
flying as pilot 3-2 in Kappa Squadron aboard the ISDII Warrior. The Defender
was a highly capable multi-role starfighter and a
squadron fielding them stood out as one of the elites. He switched his slate
over to the local system map which was charting their approach. Little did he know though, strings were
pulled at the Daedalus to get his goat. Had Major Mitchell paid more
attention to the order of battle, he would have realized that he was meant to
board a Delta-class Dx9 Stormtrooper Transport, TRN
Odyssey-1 as Odyssey Squadron handled transport duties for the Warrior.
Nail-1 belonged to ISDII Hammer. Booze and credits may or may not have been
exchanged between Commander Drake Starfire of Epsilon Squadron and the duty
officer handling transportation so that Mitchell would be directed onto Nail-1.
His slate was also doctored to where the Hammer’s ID line read for the
Warrior with its combat space patrol craft IDs also matching up with Warrior
squadron craft. Pete leaned back and started to zone out as the transport
moved closer and closer to the Hammer. ISDII Hammer Hangar Bay “Hey, wake up.” A baby-faced
pilot with short brown hair wearing a pilot’s suit could be heard in Pete’s
left ear. Then he felt his shoulder being pushed on. Pete snapped awake and
looked bleary eyed over at the pilot, focusing on his rank insignia. Then he
narrowed his eyes. “You mean ‘wake up Major, sir’.”
Pete groaned, leaning forward. “I’m your flight leader.” The
pilot said quietly, causing Pete to ruefully pucker his lips. Not even off
the transport and I’ve already got off on the wrong foot. What was this guy’s
name? His memory started to roll back. “Sorry, you’re Commander Leocadio?” “Yes indeed, Major. I hope you
don’t mind me fetching you. We’re restricted for the rest of our stay in the
system You’re to report to the commodore sharply. Admiral’s a tough cookie
when he’s mad. He's madder now than l ever seen him.” “What in particular did this?”
Pete asked, standing up. “Well a little while ago,
eight other squadron members broke into the home of the old Phare system moff. Starting
throwing things through a plate-glass living room window.” The commander
drawled. “We found some of the things on the lawn, large globe, small love seat,
a lot of books. We also found a stormtrooper who
was unconscious at the time. He claims they threw him too.” “Through the window?” Pete
asked. “That’s right.” The commander
confirmed. “It seems he took them there for a little joke, he didn’t tell
them it was the old system moff’s house. He told
them it was a-uh, well what we call in Frigg a-” “Yeah we call it the same
thing at Coruscant.” Pete stepped out into the
aisle with his space bag.
“Well that’s about all
Major, if it makes you feel any better, Admiral Eode says this is the worst
ship he’s ever seen in his entire naval career. Once you get there, piece of
advice, don’t let his flag aide give you any guff. He’s a tall vulpinoid, goes around in an admiral’s uniform even
though he’s just a lieutenant” The commander said, saluting. Pete returned the salute and
started to step off and out from the transport. Once he was out of earshot,
Commander Hav Antiel activated his comm link after
rubbing his hands together. “The goose is in the oven.” He signaled
cryptically. Commodore’s Office Pete made his way through the
vast Imperial Star Destroyer up to the commodore’s office. Oddly enough he
found the desk where the flag aide sat empty. Walking up to the door, he
knocked sharply and smelled something odd, it smelled like something burning.
He knocked again and heard a coughing sound, followed by the stereotypical
stiff upper-lip upper class accent of a career Imperial Navy officer. “Enter.” The voice said. Pete
opened the door and stepped into a haze of smoke then saw a tall gold and
white furred vulpinoid sitting behind the desk.
Sure enough as Commander Leocadio said, he was
wearing an admiral’s uniform. He had
a briar root pipe clenched between his teeth as well, smoke wafting
from it that smelled like cherry. Not a bad smell once one got used to it.
Pete crossed his arms. “Well? State your business Major,
I’m rather busy.” The fox said. “The admiral called me here,
Lieutenant. Does he typically let you sit at his desk and smoke in his
office?” Pete asked. “The admiral called you, did he?”
The fox leaned back and stared at the human. “What is it to you who sits here
and who smokes there?” “Excuse me?” Pete raised his
eyebrows. “I don’t think I will.” The fox
started to rise to his feet, slowly striding around his desk. “I didn’t call
anyone in here, especially not some hot dog. What are you even doing on my
ship? You’re from Kappa Squadron.” “Your ship?” Pete blinked as the
fox leaned in. “Yes, my ship.” The fox rumbled.
Pete looked at his uniform carefully, then looked the fox in the eye. “Commander Leocadio
said you were the flag aide.” Pete murmured. “I saw him on the transport when
I arrived, he told me to come here.” “Commander Leocadio
told you to see me? And he’s here?” The fox asked, raising his ears. “That
wouldn’t be possible.” “How do you mean?” Pete blinked,
the gears starting to finally turn. “Because Commander Leocadio is assigned to the Warrior.” “But this is the Warrior.” Pete
stammered. “Major,” The fox slowly plucked
the pipe out from his mouth. “This ship is a working ship, I can assure you
for the years I’ve ran Epsilon Squadron and the few months I’ve been in
command, this is definitely not the Warrior.” “Then you’re not Rear Admiral
Eode?” Pete asked, his mouth starting to run dry. The fox started to take another
drag from his pipe, puffing on it while an unsettling calm and silence fell
over the room. Pete looked up at the fox nervously as he considered the many
sharp, pointed teeth the vulpinoid had. Then he
heard the outer door open. The fox moved over to the door and uttered a low
growl. “You’re on the wrong ship, this is the ISDII Hammer. We’re going to
have to ship you back. I’m not going to have my transports burn fuel, we’re
going to send you back the cheapest way we can, in a torpedo casing.” Pete took a step back as the door
behind him started to open. Pete turned and saw several pilots in their
suits. Alpha, Beta, Delta and Epsilon. Among the Epsilon pilots was the
commander he spoke to. They all seemed to shake their heads, giving him a
somber look. Then he felt a solid thud in his shoulder, shaking as he heard
the fox chuckle. The other pilots snorted and started to clap their hands,
laughing as well. “Yeah, yeah. Way to go there, hot
dog, stepped onto the wrong ship.” Commander Drake Starfire teased. Hav
Antiel looked him in the eye and chuckled while taking his hand, clapping him
on the back. “Welcome to the Hammer. Come on, we’re taking you to the
cantina.” |

News |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
The
big news this week is congratulations to Miles Prower and Impulse who are now
Recon Officer and Science Officer respectively! Congrats! Please
also congratulation Sean Erso on his promotion to
LT! Another pilot joined the fleet with SL Nel Folling joining Delta Squadron. Welcome! All September MSE’s are in and approved. I believe a few medals have yet to be awarded, though. In TCoP, Rando takes it again, with a strong showing. Also, thank you to AD Miles Prower for his full fiction, which saves me some time while I am so busy. I’d say it qualifies for ToP Muse, though, so he earned an IS-SW! I see the light at the end of the tunnel, though. I have a bit of time before I start my cross country road trip, so I’ll be doing a bit of flying. Join me and others this Thursday 830 pm EST/530 pm Pacific for MP night. I will go on leave from November 6 through November 18th for my move across the country. I will be somewhat available, and will do my best as I’ll have my laptop, but I doubt I’ll be able to complete a report in that time. If you live near I-80, let me know! |

Act I BSF emails/pilot files will be due by 5 pm
Pacific/8 pm Eastern/1 am London on Monday November 5. Rules: It’s a new year, so this will change a
little. Every TWO weeks, there will be
a free mission from each of the major SP platforms (TIE, XvT, XWA)
assigned. Pilots will fly each mission
that they choose and BSF the battles to the TC database and forward the BSF
email to Pete Mitchell. If the pilot
has earned a high score, BSF it and also send the pilot file to Pete Mitchell
in case the BSF is not approved in time.
Each week the pilot with the highest
score in each platform will earn 4 points.
The next highest score will earn 3, the next highest 2, and all other
submissions will earn 1. If the
winning pilot in a platform also earned a high score, that pilot will earn 5
points for that platform. Points will
accumulate for the week, month, and year for more awards. Awards: Annual: IS-PW/GW/SW for 1st 2nd
and 3rd total points for the year.
(at least 5 participants) IS-GW/SW/BW for 1st 2nd
and 3rd total points for the year in each platform (at least 4
participants) Monthly: IS-GW/SW/BW for 1st 2nd
and 3rd total points for the month (at least 3 participants). Weekly: IS-SW/BW for 1st and 2nd
total points for the week (at least 3 participants). IS-SW/BW for 1st and 2nd
in each platform (at least 2 participants). TIE Corps Pilot League 2018: Round 20 Results: TIE-Free 79: Deep Strike – Current HS = 70,759
XvT-Free 34: Stop and destroy a

XWA-Free 39: Testing Sources – Current HS = 21,964
Overall:
Round 21 Assignments: TIE-Free 81: Khaine
#1 – Current HS = 61,764 XvT-Free 39: Capture the Mole
– Current HS
= 75,300 XWA-Free 40: The Capture of Firizon – Current HS = 13,498 Rules: This competition is similar to TIE Corps
on patrol, but it is handicapped to make it accessible to more pilots. Every TWO weeks, there will be a free
mission from each of the major SP platforms (TIE, XvT, XWA) assigned. Pilots will fly each mission that they
choose and BSF the battles to the TC database and forward the BSF email to
Pete Mitchell. If the pilot has earned
a high score, BSF it and also send the pilot file to Pete Mitchell in case
the BSF is not approved in time. BSF emails/pilot files will be due by 5 pm
Pacific/8 pm Eastern/1 am London on October 29. Each week the pilot with the highest
handicap score (expressed as a % of the high score) in each platform will
earn 4 points. The next highest score
will earn 3, the next highest 2, and all other submissions will earn 1. If the winning pilot in a platform also
beat the high score (without the handicap added), that pilot will earn 5
points for that platform. It is
possible for a pilot to be the only pilot to beat the high score, and not win
that platform. If for example, pilot A
got 90% of the high score and has a 25% handicap for a total of 115%, and
pilot B got 105% of the existing HS (and earned a new HS) with a handicap of
5% for a total of 110%, Pilot A would win the platform for the week for 4
points and pilot 3 would only earn 3 points. Points will accumulate for the
week, month, and year for more awards. Handicaps will be calculated as follows: The average score in the platform as a
percent of the high scores will be calculated as an average of all scores on
that platform since the beginning of the League (avg). The handicap will be calculated as the
difference between the average and 100%.
For example, if a pilot’s average score in TIE is 75% of the HS, his
handicap will be 100%-75%=25%. If a
pilot then scored 85,000 pts on a mission with an existing HS of 100,000
points, his handicap score would be 85% + 25% = 110%. *The first round any pilot flies in any
platform will not have a handicap added as the pilot will not have an
average. Therefore, the first round,
there are no handicaps, only scratch scores.
**I reserve the right to create a maximum
handicap. At this point, it is
75%. Awards: Annual: IS-PW/GW/SW for 1st 2nd
and 3rd total points for the year.
(at least 5 participants) IS-GW/SW/BW for 1st 2nd
and 3rd total points for the year in each platform (at least 4
participants) IS-GW/SW/BW for 1st 2nd
and 3rd most improved averages over the year in each platform (at
least 4 participants, must have flown at least 10 missions) Monthly: IS-GW/SW/BW for 1st 2nd
and 3rd total points for the month (at least 3 participants). Weekly: IS-SW/BW for 1st and 2nd
total points for the week (at least 3 participants). IS-SW/BW for 1st and 2nd
in each platform (at least 2 participants). Top
Muse: Competition runtime:
Through the end of the year. Units involved: All active TC members Competition medals: IS-PR/GR/SR for the remainder of the
year (4+ entries) IS-GR/SR/BR for the month (4+ entries) IS-SR/BR weekly (3+ entries) Description: This is the easiest fiction competition ever!
You only need to come up with an idea, not write a whole fiction out. Each
week, please submit your idea for the short weekly fiction in the TCCOM
report each week by Sunday at midnight GMT. Your idea can be as simple as a
sentence or more of an outline. Do NOT write a whole fiction. The winning
idea will be turned into a work of fiction by the TCCOM for his report. The
author of the winning idea will win an IS-SR and 2 points towards the annual
and monthly standings. The second best idea will earn 1 point towards the
annual and monthly standings. Ideas will be judged on criteria such
as: originality, relevance to recent events and previous TCCOM fictions, ease
of turning into a short fiction, and other whims of the TCCOM. Any ties for
the monthly or annual totals will be broken by selecting the best idea over
the time period as judged by 3 members of the TIE Corps Admiralty Board that
are not part of the tie. How to participate: Each week, email your idea directly to
me. |
