In his office, AD Pete Mitchell was
looking at a data screen looking over some numbers. One number caught Pete’s eye. “19%?” he muttered to himself. His head dropped for a moment. Pete then gathered himself and stood
up. He made a quick glance back at the
screen, shook his head, and headed out the door. It seemed to close by itself behind him. At least he was getting the hang of that… He walked down the corridor and knocked
on an open door that had “Pliffles” handwritten on
it. “Hey Pete, what can I do for you?” “Pliffles…
What happened to your name plaque?” “Oh, someone took it. I’m positive its Kappa, but I haven’t found
it, yet” Pete smirked. “You’d almost think they didn’t like it
when their alumni succeed…” Knowing it
was actually a sign of respect. “Anyway,
the reason I’m here is the number on the percentage of new SL’s that make it
to LCM on their first tour of duty…” “19%. I was actually going to check into the
practices of how new pilots are handled once assigned to squadrons this week.” “Always one step ahead, Admiral. Well, carry on then. I’ll go to Daedalus and poke around there
to see if I find anything. Maybe you
can start with Kappa Squadron and kill two mynocks…” Plif nodded before Pete finished as if
that was the plan the whole time. “You know, to some officers,
that would be annoying… I’ve never been more pleased with my choice,
though.” Pete checked in with CPT Cal Sinis to let him know of his plans. “Would you like for me to arrange a
transport, Sir?” “No thanks, I’ll take my new TIE…” “An escort then?” “If you insist… Just Woody, though. I’m not going through hostile territory,
and I’m in a Guardian. Oh yeah, and I’m
me…” With that, Pete departed for the hangar
deck. |

First,
congratulations and thank you are in order for GN Jarek La’an, who has been
selected to take command of Theta Squadron! The
CMDR of Sin squadron is still open.
Please send your applications to Hav Antiel and CC Plif and I
ASAP. Also,
one thing I neglected to mention last week is GN John T. Clark has
transferred from Delta Squadron to Epsilon Squadron to become a Flight
Leader. Congratulations! LC
Kyle Kroan and FA Montte have created an IU course on shield technology that
sounds like an interesting endeavor, so check it out! Also, as Plif has mentioned an update to
the IWATS Core largely done by LC Kyle Kroan and Plif is in process of being
coded for posting. In
TIE Corps on Patrol, CPT Rando cleaned up, with two new high scores! His third score also tied the high
score! Rando also took top spot for
July. Finally,
it is my goal to continue to write a short RP-style fiction with every
report. It has been increasingly
difficult to think of what to write about, though, and only on report
#4! As a solution, I will start a new
competition to get some Iron Star ribbons.
For this, all you need to do is email me an idea to write about in my
next report. It can be as simple as a sentence
up to a rough outline, but I do NOT want a full fiction. I want to be able to take the idea and add
my own touch. The entries will be
judged on relevance to recent events, creativity, ease of me turning it into
a full fiction, and whatever else I feel like at the time. Winner each week will receive an
IS-BR. I will think about ways to
allow for larger awards over time and post this as an official competition
once I come to a conclusion there. The
deadline will be Midnight GMT every
Sunday to give me time to judge and write my fiction before my
report on Tuesday. The first deadline
will be Sunday 8/12 to give me time to fine tune the details of the rewards
and because I have a good idea for continuing the story I started this week. Hat tip to AD Plif for giving me the idea to
get started on this week’s fiction! Oh,
it’s also MSE time again, so let’s make it quick and easy for AD Plif his
first time around as SOO! |

Night Out BSF emails/pilot files will be due by 5 pm
Pacific/8 pm Eastern/1 am London on Monday August 13. Rules: It’s a new year, so this will change a
little. Every TWO weeks, there will be
a free mission from each of the major SP platforms (TIE, XvT, XWA)
assigned. Pilots will fly each mission
that they choose and BSF the battles to the TC database and forward the BSF
email to Pete Mitchell. If the pilot
has earned a high score, BSF it and also send the pilot file to Pete Mitchell
in case the BSF is not approved in time.
Each week the pilot with the highest
score in each platform will earn 4 points.
The next highest score will earn 3, the next highest 2, and all other
submissions will earn 1. If the
winning pilot in a platform also earned a high score, that pilot will earn 5
points for that platform. Points will
accumulate for the week, month, and year for more awards. Awards: Annual: IS-PW/GW/SW for 1st 2nd
and 3rd total points for the year.
(at least 5 participants) IS-GW/SW/BW for 1st 2nd
and 3rd total points for the year in each platform (at least 4
participants) Monthly: IS-GW/SW/BW for 1st 2nd
and 3rd total points for the month (at least 3 participants). Weekly: IS-SW/BW for 1st and 2nd
total points for the week (at least 3 participants). IS-SW/BW for 1st and 2nd
in each platform (at least 2 participants). TIE Corps Pilot League 2018: Round 15 Assignments: TIE-Free 61: Horn #1 – Current HS = 56,135 XvT-Free 24: Arrival of VA Priyum to ISD Grey Wolf – Current HS = 58,360 XWA-Free 30: Capture the M/FRG
Hound – Current HS = 13,685 Rules: This competition is similar to TIE Corps
on patrol, but it is handicapped to make it accessible to more pilots. Every TWO weeks, there will be a free
mission from each of the major SP platforms (TIE, XvT, XWA) assigned. Pilots will fly each mission that they
choose and BSF the battles to the TC database and forward the BSF email to
Pete Mitchell. If the pilot has earned
a high score, BSF it and also send the pilot file to Pete Mitchell in case
the BSF is not approved in time. BSF emails/pilot files will be due by 5 pm
Pacific/8 pm Eastern/1 am London on August 6. Each week the pilot with the highest
handicap score (expressed as a % of the high score) in each platform will
earn 4 points. The next highest score
will earn 3, the next highest 2, and all other submissions will earn 1. If the winning pilot in a platform also
beat the high score (without the handicap added), that pilot will earn 5
points for that platform. It is
possible for a pilot to be the only pilot to beat the high score, and not win
that platform. If for example, pilot A
got 90% of the high score and has a 25% handicap for a total of 115%, and
pilot B got 105% of the existing HS (and earned a new HS) with a handicap of
5% for a total of 110%, Pilot A would win the platform for the week for 4
points and pilot 3 would only earn 3 points. Points will accumulate for the
week, month, and year for more awards. Handicaps will be calculated as follows: The average score in the platform as a
percent of the high scores will be calculated as an average of all scores on
that platform since the beginning of the League (avg). The handicap will be calculated as the
difference between the average and 100%.
For example, if a pilot’s average score in TIE is 75% of the HS, his
handicap will be 100%-75%=25%. If a
pilot then scored 85,000 pts on a mission with an existing HS of 100,000
points, his handicap score would be 85% + 25% = 110%. *The first round any pilot flies in any
platform will not have a handicap added as the pilot will not have an
average. Therefore, the first round,
there are no handicaps, only scratch scores.
**I reserve the right to create a maximum
handicap. At this point, it is
75%. Awards: Annual: IS-PW/GW/SW for 1st 2nd
and 3rd total points for the year.
(at least 5 participants) IS-GW/SW/BW for 1st 2nd
and 3rd total points for the year in each platform (at least 4
participants) IS-GW/SW/BW for 1st 2nd
and 3rd most improved averages over the year in each platform (at
least 4 participants, must have flown at least 10 missions) Monthly: IS-GW/SW/BW for 1st 2nd
and 3rd total points for the month (at least 3 participants). Weekly: IS-SW/BW for 1st and 2nd
total points for the week (at least 3 participants). IS-SW/BW for 1st and 2nd
in each platform (at least 2 participants). |
