SOO REPORT #1

REPORTING OFFICER: Admiral Plif, Strategic Operations Officer
DATE SUBMITTED: 15 Jul 2018

NEWS

It's been a few days since AD Mitchell selected me as the new SOO. Since then, I've been poking through the database and learning how to perform my new job functions. So far, it's been pretty great!

My first big task was opening the Warrior Commodore and Theta CMDR positions for applications. The deadline on the former is approaching, about three more days left on that. The next WarCOM will be taking the lead on any open CMDR positions on his ship, so he'll be free to set his own deadline for applications.

Another recent appointment was AD Pickled Yoda to the position of Tactical Officer. Congratulations and good luck on your new assignment!

One change I'd been keen to make is bringing back the position of Fleet Systems Engineer (FSE) to recognize GN Anahorn Dempsey's contributions to the Corps as our primary database developer, and I'm happy to say that GN Dempsey's profile now reflects that assignment. FSE now exists in the database as a secondary role, much like any of the assistant positions or Editor of the Newsletter (EDR). Thank you for all you do, Dempsey!

Speaking of the newsletter, I've been given a copy of all the fiction and graphics submissions from Raise the Flag and I'm working on putting those together for publication.

I looked at the calendar and realized I'd need to get the Trivia Grand Tour started again soon in order to complete another twenty-one weeks before the year ends, so be on the lookout for that!

For my first Awards section below, these are merit medals from the June evaluations, a couple of retirement awards, and all the competition medals that I've approved since becoming SOO. I'd originally listed the MoCs as well but the section became very, very long and I wanted to keep the focus on the merit medals. See the TCCOM's latest report for the full MoC list. ;)

AWARDS
FA/COL Pellaeon
For his outstanding work as both SOO and TCCOM over the last several years and flawless dedication to the ideals of the Emperor's Hammer it is my pleasure to award the Medal of Honor to once Fleet Admiral and now Colonel Pellaeon.

FA/COL Pellaeon
For FA Pellaeon's excellent administration of the 2018 RtF competition as well as his flying activity over the last few months, I am pleased to award Pellaeon the Gold Star of the Empire!
Recommended by: AD Pete Mitchell
GN Elwood the Brave
It is with pleasure that I make the recommendation that General Elwood The Brave after an astounding one-man effort to fly well over 900 missions as well as keeping up with his duties as Epsilon Squadron Commander, be endorsed with haste for the Gold Star of the Empire. Elwood or Woody as we all happily know him has been a tremendous asset to many units within the TIE Corps and this award will further immortalize him in our historical records as a pilot with very few that can match not just his skill and tenacity but also his happy dedication to our group. ~AD Miles Prower
For GN Elwood the Brave's excellent performance during RtF and his extremely consistent high activity level for a very long time, it is with great pleasure I approve this Gold Star! ~AD Pete Mitchell

GN Pickled Yoda
During June and Raise the Flag, GN Pickled Yoda stepped up once again and ran the RtF site that's critical to the success of the competition. His efforts as a participant in the competition were immense, posting over 1000 points on his own with strong performance in all four bonus competitions and finishing in first place for SP flying with 782 missions flown including 45 new mission and battle high scores. Yods went on to take third place among the individual results, which is no small feat in our biggest event of the year. His contributions to Theta Squadron and the ISDII Warrior led both to successfully defend their titles for a fifth year in a row, a history of success that's not likely to be topped anytime soon. Reflecting his dedication to service and commitment to going above and beyond the call of duty, I recommend that GN Pickled Yoda receive the Gold Star of the Empire. ~AD Plif
For GN Pickled Yoda's work on the RtF site, which was more involved this year, with rules changes, and his stellar flying performance, I am happy to approve this Gold Star! ~AD Pete Mitchell
CPT Aldaric
During June and Raise the Flag, CPT Aldaric led Kappa Squadron by example by posting a total of 435.5 points between his SP and MP flying that included a fourth place finish in the SP Bonus Comp on the individual standings. To recognize his efforts for Kappa, the ISDII Warrior, and the Corps, I'm proud to recommend that CPT Aldaric receive his first Silver Star of the Empire.
Recommended by: AD Plif
LC Earnim Branet
A regular among the top contributors in mission completions, June was LC Earnim Branet's time to shine, and shine he did. With 101 SP missions flown, 45 LoCs, and 129 LoSs, LC Branet contributed the second most to Sin Squadron's point total, helping them earn fourth place among the squadrons and pushing the ISDII Warrior to its fifth consecutive victory in Raise the Flag. To properly recognize his efforts, I recommend that he be awarded the Silver Star of the Empire.
Recommended by: AD Plif
LC Hav Antiel
LC Hav Antiel led Sin Squadron with distinction in June and Raise the Flag, posting a squadron-leading 513 points in the competition that pushed Sin into fourth place among the squadrons and contributed to the ISDII Warrior clinching its fifth consecutive victory in the competition. I'm particularly proud to see that LC Antiel placed fifth in the individual standings in Raise the Flag and finished right behind his Commodore; he didn't make it easy to hold on fourth place and I appreciate him for that. I'm recommending that LC Hav Antiel be awarded the Silver Star of the Empire, a well-deserved recognition after a particularly fierce competition month... at least at the squadron and individual level.

COL Hawkins
During June and Raise the Flag, COL Hawkins was once again the ISDII Warrior's fiction and graphics powerhouse with a second place finish in the Fiction Bonus Comp, first place in the Graphics Bonus Comp, 221 personal points from the art categories and 175 bonus points contributed to Kappa Squadron and the Warrior. The creation of a RtF board game was particularly innovative, a spin on the graphics competition that was definitely a first. Hawkins also took advantage of the MP Bonus Comp and posted 30 triple-credit LoSs. For his contributions to Kappa, the Warrior, and the Corps during June, I recommend that COL Hawkins receive the Silver Star of the Empire.
Recommended by: AD Plif
GN Gilad Pellaeon
During June and Raise the Flag, GN Gilad Pellaeon served Theta Squadron and the ISDII Warrior with distinction by flying 234 SP missions that led to Theta finishing in second place among the squadrons (although retaining the title of TCCOM's Escort Squadron) and the ISDII Warrior triumphing once more. For his efforts in June, I recommend that Gilad receive the Silver Star of the Empire.
Recommended by: AD Plif
GN Mark Schueler
In a bittersweet June and Raise the Flag, Colonel Mark Schueler earned his long-sought promotion to General after leading Theta Squadron to its fifth straight title as the TCCOM's Escort Squadron. With 420 SP mission completions and 2 LoSs, GN Schueler contributed the second most points to Theta and finished seventh on the individual list, a strong performance in a fierce month of competition. To recognize his contributions during June, I recommend that Mark receive the Silver Star of the Empire.

GN Mark Schueler
Since taking up the mantle of Theta CMDR in October of 2015, GN Mark Schueler was the steady hand that would guide them to three consecutive Raise the Flag titles and kept the squadron running through the “off-season”. Over the years, Mark was also Theta's vocal advocate and made sure that the veteran squadron's opinion was known whenever there was an opportunity to provide feedback on a competition or major policy change. In recognition of his contributions during his time as CMDR, I recommend that GN Schueler be awarded the Silver Star of the Empire.
