SIN WEEKLY SQUADRON REPORT #32
SIN CMDR: LC Hav Antiel
REPORT DATE: 10 February 2018
SQUADRON COMMANDER'S CORNER
I was very happy to receive a promotion to Lieutenant Colonel this morning. AD Plif's kind words definitely brightened my spirit. The promotion led me on an investigation of active and historical data for the line ranks (i.e. everything lower than Rear Admiral). Here are some interesting things I discovered.

Fun Facts About the TC Link Ranks (Cadet through General)
  • There are 3,793 pilots listed on the TC database between the ranks of Cadet and General. Of those, 51 (1.34%) are active (i.e. listed on the roster for the Hammer or the Warrior).

  • Lieutenant (LT) is the most common rank, with 1,277 total active and inactive pilots (33.67%).

  • Among active pilots, Lieutenant and General (GN) are the most common, with 9 pilots representing each rank (17.65%).

  • There are currently no active Sub-Lieutenants (SL).

  • On the Hammer, Lieutenant and General are the most common ranks (5 pilots each, 19.23%). Aside from Sub-Lieutenant (0 pilots), Lieutenant Commander (LCM), Commander (CM), and Lieutenant Colonel (LC) are the least common ranks on the Hammer with two pilots each (7.69%).

  • On the Warrior, Lieutenant Colonel is the most common, with five pilots holding that rank (20.00%). Surprisingly, there are no active Captains (CPT) aboard the Warrior.

  • There are only 30 Generals (GN) listed on the TC database all-time (0.79% of all pilots), making it the rarest rank. Of those, 9 remain active, the highest percentage of active versus inactive pilots (30.00%).

  • There are also 9 active Lieutenants versus 1,277 listed on the all-time database, making it the rank with the lowest representation of active pilots (0.70%) -- aside from Cadet, of course, which is technically an inactive rank.

  • Surprisingly, there are more than twice as many full Colonels (157) than Lieutenant Colonels (83) in the database. This bucks the trend of each rank having fewer pilots than its predecessor. In fact, Colonels also outnumber Majors (MAJ) 157 to 125.

Well there you have it. I hope you enjoyed this in-depth look at the rank listings. I know rank isn't everying in the TC, but it can be fun to look at the numbers from time to time.

COMPETITIONS

I will summarize competitions that apply to Sin in this section, but you should always check the Competitions Center and Combat Center for full details on all competitions.

  • Project 659
Each month, fly the SP battles indicated in the Sin Weekly Squadron Report and earn bonus points for high scores and fastest submissions.

  • TIE Corps on Patrol
For 2018, TCoP is moving to every other week. VA Pete Mitchell is taking the TCoP helm this year, so please note that BSF emails/pilot files will be due by 5 pm Pacific/8 pm Eastern/1 am London one every other Monday starting January 15.

  • TIE Corps Pilot League
Like TCoP, the Pilot League is a single-player comp taking place every other week. The difference here is that pilots have a rolling handicap. Each round, the pilot with the highest handicap score (expressed as a percentage of the high score) in each platform will earn 4 points. The next highest score will earn 3, the next highest 2, and all other submissions will earn 1. If the winning pilot in a platform also beat the high score (without the handicap added), that pilot will earn 5 points for that platform. There are more details about the handicap calculations on the competitions page, but needless to say, I'm very excited about this one!

  • Imperial Storm - A New Hope
This is the turn-based map campaign that the WARDs have been working on for some time. Battle teams led by the Warrior, Hammer, and TCCS battle for dominance over systems on the map. Be on the look out for SP and MP assignments, pilots.

  • TIE Corps on Recon
Submit a screenshot each week from one of Star Conflict's multiplayer game modes (Domination, Beacon Hunt, PvE, Team Battle, and Combat Recon). Iron Stars are awarded weekly and monthly based on unique criteria for each game mode.

  • TIE Corps vs AI
Submit a screenshot each week from Star Conflict's Player vs. AI modes. Iron Stars are awarded weekly and monthly based on unique criteria for each game mode.

  • Wing II Commander's Escort Flight / Warrior Commodore's Escort Flight
These are MP and SP versions of the same comp: fly enough missions to rank among the top four on the Warrior for the month to earn points. Iron Stars are awarded to the top four every month with a quarterly bonus. For the Commodore's Escort Flight, LoCs and LoSs are summed for the total.
PROJECT 659
It's time to earn some Squadron Citations, Sinners. Every month, I'll announce a battle for TIE Fighter, X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter, and X-Wing Alliance. Your mission is to fly those battles before the end of the month.

Every battle BSF earns you one point; the first pilot to submit the BSF for each assigned battle earns a bonus point, and additional bonus points are awarded for ?80% of the existing high score and a further bonus point if you beat the high score. I'll keep track of points and award IS-BWs for every 5 points and IS-SWs for every 20 points.

FEBRUARY ASSIGNMENTS
PLATFORM BATTLE HIGH SCORE 80%
TIE Fighter TIE-TC 214 604,146 483,317
X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter XvT-TC 14 620,162 496,130
X-Wing Alliance XWA-TC 4 20,160 16,128

How were these battles selected? The following criteria were used:
  1. Fewest number of BSFs needed to earn a Squadron Citation
  2. Highest average rating in the Battle Center

CLOSING COMMENTS
I'm excited that Project 659 is finally live. If you have any questions, concerns, or feedback, please let me know. I'll be participating, too, but I won't be eligible for awards. Hopefully this comp will help inspire activity and boost Sin's profile at the same time.
