Contents: Squadron Report for the Week of November 8, 2009 to November 15, 2009
Introduction
Business as usual folks. First off, there's been a poor response this last week. I've said it time and again, you need to let me know if you've done non-flight activity. If I don't know about it, I can't count it. As you should know, Raise the Flag 2009 was announced via e-mail by the SOO. We have less than a week to prepare (as of today). If you didn't get the e-mail or are unfamiliar with the concept, Raise the Flag is a Corps-wide competition amongst squadrons. The objective is to rack up the highest score overall by participating in a range of activities. The squadron that does so gets the honor and glory of becoming the TIE Corps Commander's (AD Viper Pred) escort squadron (until next RTF).Here is HA Frodo March's e-mail for all to see:
Pilots,
Before I
begin I'd like to establish with all of you the spirit of
the Raise the Flag Competition this time around, which was originally
intended to be each November, and may be every 6 months now, to the
discretion of the TCCOM. The main idea behind this November's
competition is to reward quality over quantity, while also giving
quantity pilots a chance to simply get as many points as possible
through straight activity. The premise by which we plan to
accomplish
this deed is to award significant amounts of Bonus Points via the three
side Competitions, SP Flying, MP Flying, and Fiction.
Here is how
the point system will work:
Point
System
Mission
flown: 1 pt
High Score: +1 pt for mission, no notice for Battle high scores (so that means maximum 2 pts per mission flown if all high scores)
MP Win: 5 pts
MP loss: 3 pts
IWATS passed (No redoing IWATS): 3 pts
High Score: +1 pt for mission, no notice for Battle high scores (so that means maximum 2 pts per mission flown if all high scores)
MP Win: 5 pts
MP loss: 3 pts
IWATS passed (No redoing IWATS): 3 pts
As you may
have noticed, there is no graphics, fiction or mission
creation sections due to the lack of participation in previous years,
and the fiction competition being available. I rather you all
participate in the fiction comp than get just a few points guaranteed
per bulk fiction. Also, there is no need to judge
fiction or graphic
submissions this way, and we can all get by smoothly. This is
not
intended to be the main area of participation. The amount of
bonus
points given via the three competitions held DURING the activity comp
will be essential for a Squadron to win.
Medals
available: IS-PW to the pilot with the most points,
including bonus points. The only PW available for the whole
competition. IS-GWs will go to all PARTICIPATING members of
the
winning Squadron.
Fiction
Competition
A theme will
be announced on the 20th, and you will have until the
5th of December at 23:59 EST to deliver it to my inbox. The
TCCOM,
DEAN and I will decide a winner. The minimum is two pages no
interline
(please, please, please use paragraphs and punctuation) and the maximum
is 20 pages of the same interline. Font face of your
discretion, size
generally 12.
The winning
submission will grant it's author 1500 pts, and the runner up 1000,
along with the IS-GR and IS-SR.
Singe
Player Competition
Three
missions will be chosen and announced on the 20th. You will
have until the 5th of December to send your pilot files to the
SOO.
The winner of each platform will receive the IS-GW, no runner up awards
for this section.
500 points
will be awarded to the top score in XvT, XWA and TIE
respectively, and 1500 points to the Squadron with the highest number
of pilots participating. CMDRs, you have until the 20th to
tell me
which of your pilots are on leave and for how long, in which case they
will not count on your % total. AWOLing dead weight on the
19th is
frowned upon, and will be looked into.
Multiplayer
Competition
I have
chosen the weekend of the 21st and 22nd to host the MP
competition in #EHCOO. I will be there hosting myself for
most the
day, any matches disputed while I was not present, or by pilots not on
IRC, will be counted should you send me a screenshot of the
final
scores stamped with the correct date to fcjt914@gmail.com.
A DFC and
IS-GW will be awarded to the winner of the
competition...IE, the pilot that wins the Most. In addition
to 1500
points. The runner up will receive the IS-SW along with 1000
points.
***
I hope that
my general intention with this competition is grasped
by all of you. Essentially, if you fly one mission, write one
fiction
and fly MP for a day you can earn yourself and your Squadron over 3500
pts... It is very possible for any pilot to be the victor
without
having to devote all your time to winning over the course of 15
days.
Rewards are good, the stakes are high.... Who wouldn't want to be named:
TCCOM's OWN/RTF
Champion November 2009!
Commanders, you have until the 20th to prepare your
men.
Any
questions should be directed to the undersigned,
In service,
High Admiral Frodo March
Strategic Operations Officer
I don't know about you guys, but I'm all for the idea of driving Vip around (the perks are worth it ;). So let's all get up and Raise the Flag!

Standing Orders
The following pilots need to report in to me so that I know what they've done for the week and need to make a regular habit of keeping in contact with me:
-CPT Crespe
-CPT Viper
Other than that, orders are as followed: Get flight capable as soon as/if possible and report in to me by e-mail when you are ready or if there's complications. Report any non-flight activity to me by e-mail while it's still fresh, since I can't read your mind and report you as active if you can't tell me what you've done. If you need to update your uniform, obtain the TTT2. If there's issues with the TTT2 due to the fleet restructure, contact the program's designer LC Tempest or alternatively the Science Officer HA Ender mBind and the Tactical Officer FA Dempsey. LT Chris Pape of Delta Squadron might also be of assistance.
Remember that flying while it is greatly appreciated, not being able to do so is not the end of the world. There's many other things to do, such as writing fiction, forming and participating in run-ons, taking on odd jobs for the CS (like at the TAC office for instance or the TC-DEAN's), creating and beta-testing missions, completing (or even maintaining if you're accepted) IWATS courses and finally, easily and also most important of all: communications. IRC is a great way to communicate with the fleet as a whole, the Message Boards are where you could start up run-ons and e-mail is vital. One e-mail to your commander can make the difference between being put down as live or inactive though we would prefer to see high levels of activity from those truly capable of it. I would also like the squadron to pool their heads and tell me what kind of competitions that they want. Captain Judarri already approached me with one, but execution depends on the lot of you.
And there you have it. Let's get busy!
