OVERVIEW
Here we go with another TCCOM report.

Last weekend started a huge attack on the TIE Corps database with an SQL injection attack and heavy changes to the data displayed on our website. At first glance we were able to restore those changed/damaged data from a backup automatic taken by the server. For a couple of days no further attack/changed data occurred, and we thought that with some slight changes to the security of our website we were safe for now. Apparently we were wrong. The attack continued yesterday, right in time after I gave the green light for using the database again. This means that we'll have to live without a working safe database a while longer. Grand Admiral Rapier, High Admiral Zsinj, High Admiral Anahorn Dempsey and the TCCS are working on a solution.

Please let them work it out. They have a plan and are working hard on it with all the free time they have beside job and family used for this project.

Until they are done we'll handle activity tracking manually with mails, again, as it has been done in the early days of this community. Everyone that did something, please make sure to mail it to your direct superior. He'll track it and make a weekly report about his subordinates activities to his superior. Still every pilot should keep pilot files and MP match screenshots for submission to the database once we have a working and safe database again.

For competitions that rely on our database activity tracking using our different killboards, those are be on hold until we've solved the database issues. As soon as he database goes life again the TCCS together with the persons responsible for these comps will take a look at the comps and see how we'll handle those and the activities during the absence of a working database.

All competitions that don't rely on the killboards should be no problem. Just send your submissions for those to the person(s) running those competitions. If you don't have the mail address of the one hosting a competition, just send a mail to the TIE Corps mailing list asking who is responsible for that competition. I am sure that the person responsible will get back to you soon and tell you how to get your submission to him.

One more thing about the database issue. The work on this database is and always was voluntary work done by a very limited number of people that volunteered for doing it. They did it in their limited free time with a full time job and family. There haven't been many people volunteering for this job in the past and I am very grateful for those that did and that did all the work that has been done without asking for anything in return. Yes, there have been security issues with what they've done. Maybe others might have not made these mistake. But we only had those people that made those mistakes do all the work that had to be done. I think we should all be grateful for the job our database admins have done, past and present. All of them.

Of course we can all discus the security issues, of course we can discus the look and feel of the site, of course we can discus about everything. In the end all that matters is how we do it and if we did it in time, the right time. So let's not blame people that sacrificed a great amount of their rare free time time for our community for mistakes they made, please.

If you have good ideas how to treat the actual database issue or if you want to help with doing something concrete, mail the responsible people (Rapier, Zsinj and Dempsey) directly, cc'ing me and the SOO. We are always grateful for help.

But that database wasn't the only issue the TCCS had to deal with lately. High Admiral Anahorn Dempsey has expressed the intention to step down from the Hammer COM position by the end of the year. Because of this, we're looking for a replacement that will take over as Hammer COM at the beginning of 2017. If you think you got what it takes to command your own ISD, send an application to me, cc'ing the SOO.

Minimum reqirements:
* SM/4 (or equivalent)
* succesfull ToD of at least 4 month in a command position in the past

The first MShipE for this evaluation round has been processed, but due to the database issues the medals will not be handed out before we're done with the database fixes.
