TAC Report # 3 (2016-09-18)

This report was submitted by TAC/AD Xavier Sienar/CS-6/VSDII Sinister

The panels of the comms station aboard the Sinister flickered wildly before alarms started to blare across the ship. Sienar burst from his office and onto the bridge. "Alubaf, status report!", he shouted at the ship's XO, Lieutenant Colonel Etcon Alubaf, who commands the ship in the absense of the commodore.

Alubaf quickly responded, "We appear to have been hit with a mag pulse through our comms. Both primary and secondary external comm relays are down. Scopes show no enemy, but I can not garuntee they were not effected."

"Scrammble Test Squadron in E2s and have Core leader standing by in the hangar to relay comms.", Sienar ordered in an abundance of caution. Just then something caught his eye outside the viewport. "Are the scopes still clear? We have incoming."

Alubaf looked at the telemetry officer who gave a puzzled look and said, "It appears the pulse took down the main sensor array. Checking backup systems." After a breif pause he continued, "Short range active sensor array is online. We will stick out like a sore thumb, but we have eyes for five klicks."

Dots littered the center of the forward telemetry scope. "Sir! We have three X-Wing and two A-Wing squadrons at 330 by 145 at 4.5!", exclaimed the telemetry officer with an air of panic in his voice.

Sienar turned to Alubaf who was already signaling for Core Squadron to scrammble. "We need to get every available pilot out there. How many transport pilots and spare fighters do we have aboard?"

"Core just took the E1s. There is a full squad of shielded LNs, two E2s, six SAs, the Tactical Gunboat, and your personal E-Wing. And we have twenty one available pilots," answered the stalwart colonel as he scanned the roster.

Sienar turned and started towards the turbolifts calling over his shoulder, "Send them all to the hangar and have preparations done on all the ships. Missile loadouts on everything. Looks like I have to get my hands dirty today." Alubaf started to object to the admiral taking to his fighter, but the thump of the turbolift doors closing cut him off.

When Sienar reached the hangar, the other pilots had boarded their fighters and all that remained was Sienar's IW E-Wing. His astromech, R7-T1 "Bolts", was being lowered into its slot. 'Waaaah-ooooo!' wailed the R7, thrilled to be back in a fighter. Sienar climbed into the cockpit and instinctually activated all the systems. Sienar's E-Wing, while retaining the outward appearance of a stock series-1 it had been modified with the laser and ion cannons from the TIE Defender and engine modifications allowing it to reach 133 MGLT. When not in an infiltration scenario, Bolts would activate the engine modifications and tune the lasers to full power, allowing them to glow Imperial green. The roar of the E-wing's engines as Sienar piloted it out of the hangar was like that of two TIE E5s in perfect formation.

As Sienar exited the hangar and lasers splashed over his shields, he immediately missed the cloaking device of his TIE Phantom aboard the Warrior. A quick check of the scopes showed bomber squadrons incoming, but not within the Sinister's crippled sensor range. "Alright, Test, Core, and LNs on fighter screen! Rag tags on me! Let's get those Bs! Take what you can with missiles," Sienar ordered as he kicked the throttle to full.

Alright! Enough eating and drinking. It's time to get back to work. Staff assignments have been sent out. Everyone but Archenksov and Dempsey have something to do. Dempsey's done plenty already as all battles in the queue not under correction are hers.

Progress this past month was scarce. I'm nearly done with Ender's TIE-CD battle, which had one mission needing to be entirely rebuilt from scratch. I cleared the initial check for the battles awaiting testing. XWiT ToD 1 is ready for release awaiting the rest of the series. The XWA-FREE made for the mission comp had several unused dummy craft that would make the mission a pain to navigate if repairs were needed, so it's getting a pre-test tweaking.

Dempsey has brought up the idea of rebuilding the EHBL to use standard unencrypted ZIPs. If anyone can help with designing the patching part of the EHBL, significant rewards will be offered. Contact me if interested.
