Commodore HA Dempsey reporting
Report ID: H.AD.044
Report date: January 3, 2016
Hello there pilots!
Happy New Year to all!
It's the 3rd of the year, and finally I can relax. I've been flying my ass off to make sure LCM Silvius wasn't going to beat me for my second place on the killboard, which he didn't, which means I now have a locked up 2nd place on all three of the killboards, with 1000+ on all three. Yay me :)
Good news also befell us this week, as we saw another new recruit joinging the ISD Hammer: SL Syntroth, who quickly earned his promotion to full lieutenant. Finally - a new pilot who flies TIE Fighter!
There's also some bad news: only one command position on the Hammer stayed in the same hands this year, as we saw the whole TCCS replaced, a new Hammer COM, and new Commanders for Alpha, Beta and Delta. Not for Epsilon, as GN Polo has chosen to resign his position as Commander. As such, we're in the market for a new Squadron Commander. Those who wish can apply by sending an email to me, FA Woody and AD Pellaeon. A few wise words on your plans are nice, and as always, the Squadron Management 3 or 4 IWATS course is required, or to be taken (and passed) within the next few days. I would like to thank GN Polo for his extensive work for Epsilon Squadron, of which he was the Commander for almost 6 years!
I've also made some organisational changes to the database last week, and that broke a few things and links left and right, but that should all be fixed now, thanks to VA Plif who was paying attention to such things :)
There's also a change in the regulations when it comes to Reservists. It won't affect too many, but as of the new year, Reservists can't really do much anymore, whereas before they could still earn medals for activity. Which is weird in my book - if you can do that, you can join a squadron. To me, that's what it should be anyway. In an attempt to do so, those who use the website to report their MP matches will notice the list of names to choose from when reporting is a lot shorter than it used to be - as of last Friday, it only displays the TC personnel who are assigned to a unit.
Another database glitch (and I'll be damned if I know what happened) is that with the arrival of a new recruit somewhere early in December, the database decided that sequential PIN numbers was boring - the last decent PIN is 13088, and the next one the database gave out was 55556. This is fun :)
With the year over, it's also time to wrap up The GoG Games: TIE Fighter. It's been fun, although the last battle was ugly. For the first time, I had to lower the difficulty because I ran out of patience to complete the mission on hard. As such, my hopes of one last monthly win were squashed by VA Plif who didn't have to resort to such tactics.

And onto other news: with the end of the year, so comes to an end the Weekly Riddles competition. And a good thing, since it was getting harder and harder to find decent ones. But fear not - I have a rreplacement. I chickened out of something complex and kept it simple: we're doing random movie screenshots. Well, not completely random as I did try to get a screenshot of a scene which makes it guessable what the movie is. Nevertheless, some are very easy, and some will be very hard.... Regular hints will be going out . The medal structure is the same as last year: an IS-BR per win with regular upgrades for multiple winners.
More good news: COL Clark isn't the only one who's recently started getting onto the Combat ratings Leaderboard, as this week CM Trideo Arkson also earned his first Legions in MP combat. Good job to you as well!
And it's not the only yearly competition that ended, so did all three of the killboards. While the TCCOM took victory on both MP killboards, our very own COL Golbez Harvey took the title after I had it two years in a row. Good work Harvey! I still managed to get 2nd on all three killboards though, so I'm happy. I wonder what would have happened if LCM Silvius had been with us all year, I guess we will find out next year! Or this year. Or... well, you know what I mean.
Let's make this a great year, pilots of the ISDII Hammer, and let's take the RtF victoiry home this time!

It's been a good year. It's also been a year with many changes. The aforementioned almost 100% changeover of the Command Staff and the Hammer's Chain of Command, but also my resignation as TAC and appointment of RA Sienar as new TAC. We saw HA Dan Bonini and HA Frodo March depart for the reserves, and the creation of the TC Newsletter. Let's see what next year brings...
Before we do that though, it's once again time to decide on some achievable goals for the coming year. I did so last year, and achieved them all. Maybe I should set my standards higher:
I wonder if I can hit them all without going completely berserk.
