Commodore's speech

The Emperor's Hammer is at war. Once again, the safety of our people and the sanctity of our space is being threatened by forces from beyond. As I don't know the details, there is little else I can tell you. You may wonder why I don't know the details yet, and the answer is simple: because YOU haven't written them yet!

Yes, of course I am referring to the new competition that VA Plif has come up with: New TIE Corps Battles Storylines. Granted, the competition title is not very original, but it does say what the whole thing is about. You are in charge of our next big Fleet wide operation. For a change, this is not one for the mission creators. However, we do plan on trying to turn at least some of these submissions into actual battles on the Compendium. The last battles of the Karana Initiative battles have been tested and are awaiting release, so from my point of view we're looking ahead again. Have a go, aqnd come up with something great. If you have some idea about the platform limits that's great, but don't let a lack of such knowledge hold you back. Come up with something, and the mission creators can always have their way with it afterwards! See the competition decription here.

Before anything else, I would again like to point out the Hammer is in need of Flight Leaders! We have 4 open positions, so if you are interested, send an email to myself and the Commander in question.

Big news this week, if you had not yet caught on, is the official re-opening of the Hammer's Fist. The Elite stormtroopers of this unit will once again be trained to regain their former glory for the Emperor's Hammer. Under the command of Delta's own Field Marshall Archenksov with his XO, High General Ulrich Drachen. Good luck to them!

With September coming to an end, so do the usual plethora of monthly competitions. The Hammer took 4 of 9 kill board medals, with 3 going to the TCCS, leaving only 2 for the Warrior pilots. And great things are in store: LT SuSaWo grabbed 3rd on the MP Killboard with only 8 days of flying, against 30 days for the 1st and 2nd places! But not only he has shown good activity - LT Silvius and COL Rau Aznable have also put themselves on the MP killboards, and CPT Aija Alura Judarrly has resumed his fiction writing, and if rumours are true, will start flying in the foreseeable future as well! I see great things in their futures! But alas, not all is good. With the MSEs due, I expect we will lose some pilots this month....

The end of September also means another chapter has closed in The GoG Games: TIE Fighter. With Battle X now completed, we move on to the last 3 battles in the original game. The past month we got a taste of the power of the Missile Boat, and that is sure to continue. We still have Zaarin to defeat and Thrawn to be elevated to the rank of Grand Admiral! Also, three of us have by now reached The Emperor's Reach in the Secret Order, thus assuring us of the medal for that achievement. That locks up 2 medals for the players still participating, and now all there is left is the fight for the participation in all 13 battles, and the coveted IS-PW for first place! It's also good to see that 2 more pilots have joined me in exceeding 2 million points overall. Good flying chaps! Even better, it seems finally after several months someone has managed to outfly me! Congrats to VA Plif who takes 1st place in this round! More kudos to myself and to VA plif for becoming a true ace with more than enemy 1,000 kills!

With the end of September (I'm starting to repeat myself here....) also cometh the time of another Ship Evaluation. I foresee great things for next month with the new pilots we have acquired the past few weeks, and some of them might even get a merit medal already for this month! One Squadron Evaluation has been received so far, so there's 3 more to come. I do hope to see them in the next few days, I would like to get this over with before the end of the week...

More changes are coming in the near future. I'm not gonna tell on any of them yet, but interesting times are ahead of us. Speaking of which - I've been trying to locate the PIN of one Ric Taldrya, former GM of the Dark Brotherhood and Praetorian, but his name isn't in the database. It appears he changed it somewhere along the way. If anyone knows what it got changed to, let me know!

After a 2 week respire, CPT Hawkins, who is now RA Hawkins, the new COO, is back up to his old standard and took last week's riddle again. Good showing sir! Speaking of which - the new COO is looking for an assistant to help him out with the flood of SC screenshots coming his way, so if you feel you're up for it, send him an application!

Lastly, congrats to LT SuSaWo and LT Silvius on earning their Commendation of Bravery.

And to close this all off, the One Hammer to Rule Them All competition has finished. I had hoped for more participation, but I'm sure those who did participate had fun doing so! If you didn't, you missed out. perhaps better next time - the next ship wide competition won't be too far off. Final results are below, but kudos here for GN Coranel Both for winning the flying part, and to LC John T. Clark for winning the non-flying part! All medals for the entire competitions have just been recommended for you!

    Commodore's Competitions

One Hammer to rule them all

The rules are simple: Each week you will be given a flying and a non flying assignment. You can submit an entry for either, or both. Each will yield a weekly winner and a weekly runner-up. Each player gets 5 pts for a win, 4 pts for a runner-up, 3 pts for a 3rd, 2 pts for a 4th, and everyone else gets 1 pt. At the end of the 4 week, there will be a top 3 for the flying part and a top 3 for the no flying part, yielding the appropriate medals. Each week, the assignments will be different, and flying assignments will be a mix of SP and MP.

    Round 3 winners:

  • non-flying: John T. Clark and Coranel Both (10 correct - IS-SR), Archenksov (9 correct, IS-BR). Kryysta Calthranus (2 correct), SuSaWo (1 correct)
  • flying: Coranel Both (281 236 credits - IS-SW), Milo Antu (247 627 credits - IS-BW), CM Doc

    Round 4 winners:

  • non-flying: John T. Clark (14,584 - IS-SR), SuSaWo (13,966 - IS-BR), Coranel Both (3,379), Chrome (3,182)
  • flying: Coranel Both (2,112 - 3*4) * (24/24) = 2100 = -1274 - IS-SW), Golbez Harvey (1300 - 3*0) * (56/137) = 531 = -2743 - IS-BW)

    Final standings:

  • non flying: John T. Clark (18 pts), Coranel Both (14 pts), Archenksov (10 pts), SuSaWo (6 pts), Hav Antiel (4 pts), Kyle Kroan, Kryysta Calthranus (3 pts), Golbez Harvey, Chrome (2 pts), Milo Antu, Sharu (1 pt)
  • flying: Coranel Both (15 pts), Golbez Harvey (8 pts), Doc (7 pts), Milo Antu (6 pts), Varis Palharris, Archenksov (5 pts), Dunta Polo (3 pts), Mauser (1 pt)

    Dempsey's Weekly Riddles

Every week, the report will have a riddle. First pilot to send the correct answer to the mailing list wins. Each victory earns you an IS-BR. Unless it's a 5th victory, you then get a IS-SR. Unless it's a 10th victory, which gives you an IS-GR. A 25th victory will give you an IS-PR!

This week's riddle: COL Frown, while investigating an uninhabited island, gets stranded. There's good news and bad news. The good news is plenty of food, the bad news is no one knows where he is. Then one day, lightning strikes the west side of the island, starting a fierce fire burning everything in its way. Due to heavy wind, the fire quickly moves east, threating the poor Colonel. Can you devise a way for the Colonel to survive?

    Last week's winner: RA Hawkins

Current standings: RA Hawkins: 11; FA Woody: 7; LC Clark: 5; AD Pellaeon : 3; LCM Hav Antiel: 2; HA Bonini, GN Pickled Yoda, COL La'an, LC Tempest, MAJ Fenn, CM Jast, CM Doc, CM Archenksov: 1
