TCCOM REPORT #51

REPORTING OFFICER: High Admiral Plif, TIE Corps Commander
DATE SUBMITTED: 30 Apr 23
ACTIVE DUTY ROSTER COUNT: 155 (-5)

IN THE NEWS

The roster is down five since my last report, the result of gaining some new pilots but also losing a few more through the AWOL process and transfers to the Reserves. Many of our incoming pilots have been directly recruited, which is great and kudos to those recruiters. The pilots that have transferred to the Reserves have been citing RL concerns, which naturally we can only do so much about. With active duty being defined as being where pilots should be when they're wanting to actively participate in our activities, the Reserves are where pilots go when they know they won't be active participants for a while. There's no shame in that and I'm sure the CMDRs appreciate the proactive decision even though it means losing someone from their squadron.

Since last time, the position of Warfare Officer (WO) was created within the TCCS. This new role is the evolution of SIMS from a secondary role to a primary as it takes on responsibility for running all of the other Corps-wide events as well as running the competition approval queue. Having someone dedicated to this part of the TC's operations allows us to have more oversight on competitions, which along with combat events are the way we keep pilots engaged in the games we play plus additional activities that give pilots things to do. AD Phoenix Berkana, formerly the Battlegroup Commander for Battlegroup I, has been doing a great job so far approving competitions and gearing up for our next event, Squadron (Re)Mobilization. He's also taken over Ace of the TIE Corps and TIE Corps in Battle, so updates for those two competitions should be more timely than they were previously.

We've also expanded the roster options for each of the battlegroups by giving them each a new ship to work with. These new ships give the battlegroups some additional assignment options as much as they increase the maximum number of pilots that can be assigned. For example, the Infiltrator Wing now has a Rebel capital ship to operate from. As part of the IW squadrons transferring to the MC90 Renegade, some of Firebird Squadron's pilots transferred out to form Typhoon Squadron on the ISDII Challenge. For another example, Sigma Squadron took the opportunity to re-launch under a new name and new ship as Hammer Squadron aboard the ISDII Relentless. Running six ships doesn't mean they'll all be full immediately or that the previous set of three were full, but the road ahead has been laid out.

With so many pilots running graphics and fiction competitions and the site still not having a way for the Warden of the Imperial Archives (WARD) to upload art pieces to profiles, I decided to suspend the WARD role for now. This coincided with GN Genie being appointed to the position of Battlegroup Commander for Battlegroup I as RA Genie, so he's got a new set of responsibilities to work with while WARD's been taken off of his plate.

IN THE WORKS

A FCHG career awards update is in progress. An obstacle I worked through was having to rebuild my spreadsheet after migrating it from Google Drive to Microsoft OneDrive incorrectly. The new version of my file is better, so it's not all bad. Moral of the story: Don't move folders out of Google Drive via File Explorer unless you know they don't contain any Google Docs or Google Sheets files.

REMINDERS

If a pilot wants to transfer to another unit or to the Reserves, I'd prefer that they contact me directly. If they contact their CMDR or BGCOM instead, I can work with that, I'd just want the CMDR or BGCOM to relay that to me along with an email forward or screenshot showing the pilot's request.

For a pilot to be assigned roles on the Discord server, they should have their current Discord username on their profile on the TC site. Without that, we haven't confirmed that the person we're chatting with on Discord is the same one that has access to the pilot's profile on the site. Similarly, a callsign or nickname being added to a Discord nickname should be confirmed as being active on the pilot's profile on the site before being updated on Discord.

Secondary positions in the TC that aren't direct assistant roles like COOA report to the TCCOM. The related section of the Pilot Manual has been updated to reflect this.

Secondary games don't require as much scrutiny as primary games to gain approval, they just need to be suggested through the chain of command. The official list of games supported in the TC, both primary and secondary, is found in the EH Wiki on https://wiki.emperorshammer.org/TCCOM:TIE_Corps_Games.

TITLE HOLDERS

The Raise the Flag event each year confers three titles to recognize the top ship, squadron, and individual pilot from the competition. These are the current holders of those titles.
