TCCOM REPORT #48

REPORTING OFFICER: High Admiral Plif, TIE Corps Commander
DATE SUBMITTED: 16 Dec 22
ACTIVE DUTY ROSTER COUNT: 170 (-19)

IN THE NEWS

The roster is down 19 since my last report, mostly from the closure of Inferno Squadron. Sometimes squadrons end up in a situation where they’ve lost their momentum and that can be tough to regain, so we reassigned its active pilots elsewhere and transferred the rest off of the active duty roster as needed. As usual, we have some pilots leaving active duty as their real life changes and some pilots returning to active duty because they missed us.

Some of you might remember a little event called Raise the Flag that we ran back in October and was won by the ISDII Hammer, Lambda Squadron, and GN Genie. Accordingly, the SOO and I are now stationed about the ISDII Hammer and our ID lines have been updated to reflect that. During the event, we increased our recognition of the three active duty Battlegroups that the TIE Corps is divided into on the Fleet Order of Battle. The three Commodores are now Battlegroup Commanders, which doesn’t have any functional difference but comes with a new max rank of Fleet Admiral. I’ll also taking over their monthly evaluations from the SOO, so that’s another slight difference.

Regarding the battlegroups, establishing and maintaining three “teams” is what we’ve decided is enough for now. We’ll increase the number of squadrons assigned to the three battlegroups as needed, so we have places to put new pilots as they come in for the foreseeable future. As noted above, the roster’s been moving in the wrong direction for talking about expanding the active duty roster so that’s the pressing concern before we say too much about what expansion will look like.

Since Raise the Flag, AD Silwar Naiilo became our new Combat Operations Officer. We’ve just announced that GN Stryker will be the next Battlegroup Commander for Battlegroup III, becoming AD Stryker when he officially takes command on Monday. Both have long histories with the Corps and bring a lot of experience to the table, so I’m looking forward to seeing what they’ve got in store for us. Already, AD Naiilo has reconstructed the TIE Corps Shootouts, made strong headway on the Combat Rating career awards, and compiled a lot of good information about what might become our next primary game.

What I don’t think I’ve explained before to a general audience are what we’re calling primary games and secondary games. Primary games are the games we’ve been supporting with single player mission counts, Legions of Combat, Legions of Skirmish, Distinguished Flying Crosses, Flight Certification Wings, FCHG, combat ratings, and more. Most but not all of the primary games fit our roleplay of being elite Imperial pilots that are deadly in space, in the air, and on the ground. Secondary games are platforms that we’ll partake in as a community more casusally and with a smaller set of recognition methods. Often, these will appear in the form of competitions for games that we don’t play all the time. The current discussion is what our scope for secondary games should be, which I plan to talk more about in this weekend’s CMDR+ meeting.

Over on Discord, I ran a poll to find out how pilots pronounce FA Jarek La’an’s name. “Lahn” was the top choice, followed closely by “Lah-ahn”. Neither of those were how I pronounced it for many years. The more you know!
