RHO SQUADRON REPORT #11 |
REPORTING OFFICER: Major Westric Davalorn, Squadron Commander RECIPIENTS: General Gilbert H. Frown, Wing II; cc: Rho Squadron DATE SUBMITTED: 11.07.2022 |
SQUADRON COMMANDER'S CORNER |
("It's quite a view," says Lieutenant Commander Tiran "Warden" Marr as he, Major Westric "Dav" Davalorn, and Captain Alexandre “ossusplayz” Morgan stare out a viewport on the ISDII Warrior overlooking the debris field above the planet Tusorix. "Yes," Dav agrees quietly, "quite a view." The sheer carnage of the Second Battle of Tusorix was evident everywhere one could look. Remnants of ships, both Isthari and Imperial in design, littered the space above the planet. Salvage crews were hard at work corralling the pieces that had not already been dragged into the atmosphere. The all-out assault by the Ishtari force had nearly succeeded, but the First Recon Division had managed to drive the invaders back for a second time. Turning to the Rho Squadron XO, Dav asks, "What's the status on our repairs?" "Mix says we should be fully operational in less than 48 hours," Ossus responds. "Overall, most of the fighter squadrons in the fleet seem to have suffered minimal damage like us. But, the same can't be said for the rest of the fleet" Dav nods. The Ishtari tactics of deploying swarms of fighters had been very effective against the slower moving larger ships in the fleet. Luckily, these swarm tactics had not been able to adapt when faced with highly trained pilots flying advanced starfighters. "Check in again with your flights," Dav says. "I know we didn't suffer much physical damage, but this battle was unlike anything we've ever seen before. The outcome was a little too close than most of us would like to admit, and I want to make sure everyone is coping with the aftermath." The XO and Flight Leader both respond with an affirmative and head off towards the pilot barracks. Dav turns and heads for his office. He walks through the door, sits down behind his desk, and begins composing his next report.) Raise the Flag is officially over, with congratulations to this year's winner, Lambda Squadron! Thanks to everyone in Rho who participated. I am extremely proud of our performance this year. Not only did we end up in 5th Place out of the 17 active squadrons and Avenger Squadron, but we were the top scoring squadron on the Warrior! We have picked up a new recruit since the last report. Sub-Lieutenant Kay Cubiclee has been assigned to Rho 11. Please assist me with welcoming them aboard and getting them acclimated to Rho Squadron. Sub-Lieutenant Jerry low has been out of contact for some time and has been declared missing in action. In other news, due to our recent forays into the Unknown Regions, increased focus is being placed on our recruitment efforts in the local systems. All pilots are invited to submit proposals for recruitment materials. That's all the news I have for now. For peace and order throughout the galaxy! For the Empire! |

COMPETITIONS |
The full list of current competitions can be found in the Competitions Center. With the Emperor's Hammer TIE Corps advancing farther into the Unknown Regions, our next step is to garner support in the new systems we encounter. As part of this effort, all pilots are invited to submit proposals for recruitment/propaganda posters to be distributed among the local population. Submission Guidelines:
After the submission period, a poll will be held to allow all EHTC members to determine the top submissions. The winning submission will be featured on the TC website as a means of encouraging visitors to join as official members. Send your submissions to davalorn@gmail.com. The TIE Corps Needs YOU! Design the Ship and Squadron Mascots Create a graphic for a squadron which MUST include its patch and mascot in some capacity (see table below). It is up to you, the designer whether to combine them together in some artistic form, fuse them or outright slap one of top of each other or whatever else you may think of doing. The only restriction is that the squadron patch and some form of the mascot are both in the art design (see mascot list below). The List of Mascots per Ship / Squadron is as follows: Challenge: Thunderbird; Hammer: Hamster; Warrior: Charhound Alpha: Penguin; Avenger: Porg; Beta: Bantha; Delta: Demon Dogs; Eagle: Sam Eagle (Blue Eagle from the Muppet Show); Epsilon: Eopie; Firebird: Phoenix; Gamma: Rancor; Inferno: Firefox; Kappa: Dragon; Lambda: Emu; Raven: Bartraven (Bart as a Raven, see Homer Simpson); Rho: Nightstrike; Sigma: Gundark; SIN: Nexu; Tempest: 00D-LE5 (Homicidal mouse droid); Theta: Kraken; Thunder: Kirin; Vulture: Vulture Before VA Marenta's time as the Warrior Commodore, she used her faithful TIE Reaper, BESSIE, during a mission in which her com circuitry was corrupted and led to cascading and repetitive damage. Being the brilliant logistician she was, she decided to appropriate her vessel from Inferno Squadron and bring it with her to the ISDII Warrior. Unfortunately, it still has the bug of a strange frequency being transmitted into her ship. The messages are simply random 3, 4, and 5 letter combinations repeated for approximately 2 standard weeks before the letter combinations change again. In an effort to help figure out what the messages mean, Marenta has tasked the Warrior to make up phrases for the letter combinations and polling the fleet to determine which is the most likely. Every 2 weeks VA Marenta will generate 3, 4, and 5 random letter combinations and create a Google Form to allow personnel onboard ISDII Warrior to fill out with a time frame of 2 weeks. After 2 weeks, the responses will be put up in a poll where the Warrior members will vote on the responses provided. The members voting will NOT be able to see which phrase was submitted by which member. After a 2 week voting period, to keep the submissions along the same time period as the voting, VA Marenta will announce the winners. Each season will have 6 full rounds of entries/voting/results. Example: VTK Vocal Tauntauns? Kill! FTWN Free The Wookies Now! VAAAS Vacations At Alderaan Are Stupid After a particularly bad batch of Chalquilla was distributed by Inferno Squadron, medical was inundated with severely hungover and somewhat illiterate members of the fleet. The tanks had been infected with a spore that ate sugar and spit out alcohol, like yeast. But, this spore also had a side effect, it secreted a neuro inhibitor that ate away people’s knowledge. To help “stimulate” some learning, Inferno, along with the medical crew, have started sending out word puzzles to help the members of the fleet regain some of their lost knowledge. At the beginning of every month, VA Marenta will generate a word search and post the link along with announcing the previous month’s entrants. Each month, the puzzle will be related to something specific like planets, people, craft, manufacturers, wars, a movie/book/series, etc. Each puzzle will be 50 words and the site will keep track of all submissions. This competition will utilize the time test on the website in lieu of using the first-entrant on the host site. TIE Corps in Battle Season Five Rounds for Season Five are being initiated mid-month to avoid the usual competition cycle. The third round ends on November 15th. Assignments for the third round: TIE-TC 67: The Siege of Maltar - https://tc.emperorshammer.org/download.php?id=65&type=info XvT-TC 94: Envoy of Peace - https://tc.emperorshammer.org/download.php?id=1104&type=info XWA-TC 26: Experimental Tie Evaluation - https://tc.emperorshammer.org/download.php?id=657&type=infoGood luck, pilots! Conundrums in Hyperspace: A Logic Puzzle Series To help you keep your wit sharp and your skill in hyperspace navigation up to snuff as an elite pilot of the TC, a series of devious logic puzzles will be provided to you, one each month, for a total of four months. These puzzles will require logic, deduction, creativity, and careful observation. One puzzle will be posted at the start of each month, with varying themes of (Star Wars) space travel. Some puzzles will require drawing - either electronically, or printing and using a pencil - in order to complete with the least difficulty. However, each puzzle will solve to either a single word or series of words that can then be entered on the submission site. While the puzzles will not be easy, the rewards will be great! The fastest correct solver each month will earn 4 points and an IS-GR; the second place 3 points and an IS-SR; the third place 2 points and an IS-BR; and all other correct solvers 1 point each. At the end of all four months, the top scorer will earn an IS-PR, provided they submitted attempts for all four puzzles. If there is a tie by points, then the IS-PR will go to the one with the lowest overall solving time for all four months. 2nd and 3rd place overall will receive an IS-GR and IS-SR respectively. |

Rest up, but be sure to work in some time in the simulators. We've earned a hard-fought victory, but there's no telling when we will be called upon again. |
