TCCOM REPORT #47

REPORTING OFFICER: High Admiral Plif, TIE Corps Commander
DATE SUBMITTED: 31 Aug 22
ACTIVE DUTY ROSTER COUNT: 189 (+2)

IN THE NEWS

The roster is up 2 since my last report, a net gain after some losses to AWOL and the Reserves balanced out by continued gains of both new and returning pilots.

Since my last report, two squadrons have been re-opened. Welcome back, Gamma and Sigma! Gamma grew fairly quickly once we had recruits to direct their way and Sigma came together with pilots having transferred from other Warrior squadrons as they returned to the normal 12-pilot max size. With both squadrons having a decent number of pilots, the next goal is rebuilding Psi Squadron so that the three ships can enter Raise the Flag in October with six squadrons each.

Squadron Executive Officer (SQXO) is now a primary position that’s taken the place of the Flight Leader 2-1 position in each squadron. SQXO's rank and promotion guidelines will be the same as FL's. Functionally, SQXO serves as the second-in-command of a squadron and the FL serves as the third-in-command. The day-to-day duties of the SQXO and FL will continue to be determined by their CMDR and will most likely be different in each squadron. Having SQXO as a primary position has allowed us to assign them database permissions similar to their CMDR's so that SQXO can fill in for the CMDR whenever the CMDR is away or unavailable.

We’ve introduced a new way to recognize competition performance beyond placement, the Operational Readiness Award (ORA). All existing Copper Iron Stars were converted to the new award and Copper now serves as the lowest-tier Iron Star for placement. For example, a squadron competition could award a Copper Iron Star for third place where they didn’t have the option of a third place award previously. Guidance has been shared with CMDR+ so far and my plan is to publish that in the Pilot Manual as I’m building it in the EH Wiki (work in progress). The ORA satisfies a desire to allow a more objective-based approach to competitions than direct comparison between pilots. As a result, more types of competitions are possible and existing competitions can be expanded to reward both placement and effort.

TITLE HOLDERS

The Raise the Flag event each year confers three titles to recognize the top ship, squadron, and individual pilot from the competition. These are the current holders of those titles.
