"Moving Day-Something Fowl: A (not quite) Honsou Story. Pt 2"
The MC-40 was designed to hold a single squadron of fighter sized craft alongside their support and shuttle craft. It was puzzling to Honsou as he looked over the schematics for the vessel, if there was space onboard to carry 650 marines as passengers, surely, they were not all for boarding defence and would need some method of deployment. However, that would mean forgoing the single squadron of fighters and having transports in the hangar… Rebels really didn’t think these things through, he thought to himself, absently shaking his head slightly. Honsou had heard a couple of suggestions for how to accommodate the second squadron. The first was, unfortunately just a plainly bad idea. The plan was to mount external "umbilicals" for the fighter's. Whilst in theory this was a good method of having them able to scramble very quickly, only the Gozanti-class cruiser had hyperspace capable umbilical docking clamps and they were very specifically designed for TIE fighters. The hit and run tactics of the Rebel Alliance meant that their fighters were all hyperspace capable so this eventuality had not been considered by their command staff when piecing together their rag-tag fleets. The other plans that Honsou had heard mentioned were similar in scope to his own, however he doubted anyone had actually taken the time to research the technical feasibility and careful placement of the additional hangar space. Honsou finished his two detailed plans for the hangar alterations and allowed himself another chuckle as he entered the name for the MC-40 into his Datapad. The TIE Corps had just finished "Sausage Week" a week for celebrating all the various delicious varieties of sausage available throughout the galaxy. A common favourite from the Core to the Outer Rim was the Nerf meat Bratwurst, affectionately known as the Nerfbrat. The recent memory of these tasty sausages made Honsou's mouth water but it was the combination of the new sound made by Travis' droid, the name of the sausage, the almost sausage shaped profile of the MC-40 and the Infiltrator Wing's love for avian species that had led to a wonderful name for her. MC-40 Bawkwurst.
