EAGLE SQUADRON NEWS

It is with much honour, gratitude and humility that I have formally accepted the role of CMDR for the vaunted Eagle Squadron. From lowly beginnings to a position of great responsibility within the Emperor's Hammer Fleet, I come to the role brimming with enthusiasm and genuinely delighted to stand shoulder to shoulder with some of the EH's greatest pilots. Eagle's proud history demands nothing but the best, and the motivation to build on our strong support to the Challenge during IS3 is well and truly there.

To my squad mates, I thank you for the support and respect you have all demonstrated, both to myself in my brief tenure as CMDR and to each other. The camaraderie is alive, and it is a tribute to the strength of your personalities, and in no small part some savvy recruiting, that Eagle will brush aside all question marks about our abilities as an elite fighter squadron.

A very warm welcome to our latest pilot, SL Drummer 'the Gunner' Nate. We will have you out of that SL uniform in no time. To Lt 'Jelly' AyePeaBee, I apologise but the callsign seems to have stuck. And to LCM 'Sloth' Critical Hit, I'm glad that you dig the name. For anyone wondering as to its relevance, it is anything but a reflection of the LCM's commitment. A few more callsigns to be assigned though... Special call-out to Lt SirCaleb, who has had a stormer of a week, across both Legions of Combat and Skirmish. A welcome return to form, and no doubt a sign of the competitiveness we will witness for this year's RTF.

COMPETITIONS AND EVENTS

Current Eagle Squadron Competitions:

Challenge Competitions:

  • Challenge's Poetic Proficiency : Every round, a general prompt will be given about something on the Challenge, her pilots, her crew, her history, or sometimes more Star Wars in general along with a poem type. You then write your heart and soul, or liver and Chalquilla, into a poem of the given type which will then be reviewed by your fellow competitors and a winner elected by vote.
  • Life in the Fleet: Cross training: Prompt: As resources get stretched thin we need our pilots to perform more than their flight duties. Challenge Order 0539 has been enacted. Pilots will be reassigned to serve on auxiliary ships within the fleet to train new skills that will be needed in case reinforcements do not come in time.

TIE Corps Competitions:

Be sure to check out all the running competitions. As Eagles, to know the competitions you are eligible for, under 'Units Involved' it must be listed as 'Entire TC', 'ISD-II Challenge', 'Wing I' or 'Eagle Squadron'.

CLOSING COMMENTS

That will just about do it for this week. I've got my work cut out for me; no time to slouch with MSEs due very shortly. I expect that we will see some pleasant surprises for a number of the Eagle pilots, but ... let's not get too far ahead of ourselves.

Don't forget to submit your poems for the Challenge Poetry competition! Once you start, the words just flow...

I remain, as always, your humble servant,

GDJ
