SQUADRON COMMANDER'S CORNER

Tommy let out a long sigh as he emerged from RA Zekk Terrik’s office.

Mere minutes earlier, the Commodore of the Warrior called me into his office. You never know what you are going to be faced with when you enter that lion’s den.

  • I was presented with a data pad. On it was details on a squadron laying dormant on the Warrior. Devoid of any pilots, flyable craft or mechanics. It had an older Squadron logo and some text that I did not recognize.
  • Zekk went on to explain that there was a need for a new squadron to be formed, from the ashes of an old outfit. A rebuild, if you will.
  • I knew what he was asking of me, he didn’t even need to say it out loud. My mind immediately went to the only squadron I have known in my TC career, Rho. There have been so many high’s, and thankfully very few lows, in my time there. I have gone into battle countless times with Rho pilots, some now off in the reserves, some still serving. I am happy to say I can call each one a friend.

    I looked back down at the datapad. Taking over leadership of Rho was a huge responsibility, considering the amazing job that AD Hav Antiel had done with her. While part of me never wants to leave Rho, I would be lying if I said the prospect of rebuilding an entirely different squadron wasn’t an exciting prospect.

    I looked back up at Zekk.

  • ”When do you need an answer?” I asked.
  • ”Now” Zekk stated.
  • ”...I’m in” I replied.
  • ”Welcome to Sigma Squadron, Major, you have quite the project on your hands.”

    This was not an easy decision for me to make. It was, however, the right one for me to make as a newer Commander. It will now free me up to build a squadron as I see fit, well, as much as RA Zekk Terrik will allow me, without feeling the need to honour the leadership of old.

    I will continue to lead Rho Squadron in the meantime. Until my successor has been announced. With that being said, if any of you have aspirations of leadership, get in touch with RA Zekk Terrik.

    I want to thank each and everyone of you for the amazing community you have helped to build in Rho. You should all be proud of what you have accomplished here. I am super sad to be moving on, but happy to be remaining on the Warrior. So I will definitely be seeing ya’ll in the hallways, hanger and cantina once the transfer is made!
