Commodore HA Dempsey reporting
Report ID: H.AD.025
Report date: January 31st, 2021
The stormtroopers made quick work of the untrained guards that were attempting to stop them. They didn't stand a chance. The firefight had been short. One might add the word 'fierce', but that would indicate something resembling resistance, and that would be a gross overstatement. As Major Delar stepped over the bodies of the fallen, he caught movement in the corner of his eye. He turned his head, and saw one of the palace guards looking at him with broken eyes. Delar raised his weapon and fired another shot at the man's face, without slowing his pace. Two of his troops were breaking down the main entrance door, and by the time he reached them, the door had given way and he could enter the building. As far as palaces go, it was pretty mediocre, he thought. Then again, it wasn't like this planet would be able to afford better that this trashheap. He quickened his pace and let his troops up the stairs towards the main halls, where they suspected the prisoners were being held. They quickly reached the end of the staircase, and halted at the massive doors before them. Delar was about to call for some tools to break through, as the doors started to open. As one, the troops assumed a battle position and aimed their rifles.
Tempest's superior starfighters were swarming away from the mighty Imperial-II class Star Destrroyer Challenge. Their shields raised to full strength, they were racing towards the enemy ships. The Missile boats were already losing the race to the TIE Defenders, but that was how it was supposed to be. The Defenders, superior to any starfighter in the galaxy, would engage the enemy starfighter screen and decimate them, protecting both the slower Missile boats and the Star Destroyer itself. Meanwhile, the Missile boats would use their massive supply of ordnance to target the enemy starships until they would flee the scene. Or were reduced to burning hulks, whichever came first. The display on Dempsey's console showed the first of the enemy cruisers already making a turn. Dempsey sighed. She wondered how its commander had ever gotten to where he was. Then again, this was probably how he did that. Surviving every engagement by running away before the shooting had started. But not this time. She tapped the screen, and the ship in question was marked with a 1. Dempsey knew a signal would be sent to the Missile boats, informing them that this was their primary target. She knew she had not needed to do so. The Flight Leaders would have known to target the closest of the ships first. And if they hadn't, Colonel Naiilo would have already told them to do so. Dempsey smiled. This shouldn't take long...
'Good of you to join us, Major Delar,' came the voice of the Challenge's Wing Commander as she stepped through the opening door. 'I'm afraid you're too late for the party.' She smiled as she stepped past
him, followed by the diplomatic team that had been sent here. They all seemed to be fine. A few bruizes here and there, but nothing serious. He glanced inside the room, and saw the bodies of the guards sprawled
all over the floor and the consoles. Yup, he was late for the party.
January is done. Well, almost anyway. All Challenge pilots are expected to participate in next month's squadron competitions. There's some nice variety going on there. Let's see what it brings...
There's a new version of Tempest's Tailoring Tool in the works, that will reflect the recent changes made to several of the medals and banners showing on the uniforms. Can't wait to see what happens there. There's also some new medals being introduced for squadron participation and achievement in ship- and TC-wide competitions, so that is also good news.
This week has been rather quiet, but that should change soon. Shquadron Evaluations are due on my desk by next Friday!
The Challenge patch competition only has a few hours left. I have two submissions so far, which is a good thing. Unfortunately, that means a hard choice for me. Next report will proudly announce the winning design!
We've seen 3 new Sub-lieutenants find their way to this shop from our training grounds aboard the SSD Avenger. Welcome to you, sub-lieutenants Golf, hansou and Papibaquigrafo00! We also saw some
earlier arrivals proimoted to full Lieutenant. Congrats, lieutenants CzR, Honsou and Scarlette! Unfortunately, that still leaves 2 previous arrivals who have not yet met the criteria for their promotions.
I'd recommend you get going, you don't want to stay a sub-lieutenant until this ship falls apart of old age, do you?
