Commodore HA Dempsey reporting
Report ID: H.AD.023
Report date: January 17th, 2021
As the TIE Phantoms of Thunder squadron appeared into view, they disappeared. Dempsey had had some reservations about equipping a full squadron with TIE Phantoms, but at times like this, they were nice to have. It would take the TIEs a good 4 minutes to reach the intruders in her airspace, so that gave some time to come up with a strategy.
'Admiral, we've lost contact with the surface team. It would appear their transmitters are no longer functional.'
Dempsey cursed inside. This was unexpected. Seems the upstart politician on the planet knew about the arrival of these ships, and probably knew exactly what they were. And now he was expecting them to defeat a fully operational Imperial-II class Star Destroyer. She wondered what these ships were, to give the man such confidence as to take an Imperial officer prisoner. Or worse.
She turned to the man who had spoken. 'Alert two battalions of stormtroopers and dispatch them to hangar bay Four. Let LC Beir know his flightgroup has a drop to make. Alert the troopers their only objective is to retrieve our people alive. They can use whatever force they see best to achieve this. And let Colonel Stryker know his squadron is to escort the Reapers. Let the Y-wings start their bombing runs on the outskirts of the settlement.'
Dempsey hoped they wouldn't be too late.
Here we are again, pilots. As I sit down writing this report, I am sad because all the nice snow that fell yesterday has already disappeared after that rain shower this morning. * sigh *.
Anyways, on to business. We're halfway through january and I have good hopes we'll see some MSE medals in the coming week. Also, there should be a new addition to the Mission Compendium shortly, as I've started on a number of battles featuring the ISD-II Challenge and its squadrons. The first one has been submitted to the TAC Office, the second one is about half-way done.
To tie in with that, I have a general request: anyone at all who has experience in a] building a game patch for TIE, XvT and/or XWA from scratch, and/or b] who knows how to actually use it, is encouraged to contact me. There's too many ships on the OOB at the moment we can't use in our custom missions, and that needs fixing. I doubt if we'll be able to incorporate them in the Ship patcher program we use, but that's a secondary concern. I'm thinking of: Arquitens cruiser, TIE Reaper and the Raider Corvette. And I still need my M/TRN Andromeda.
Competitions wise, I've set the Commanders aboard the ISD-II Challenge to come up with a nice squadron competition for February that goes outside the usual boxes, and preferably a short one as well. The first one has been submitted and approved it seems, so that's one down and four to go.
COL Silwar Naiilo, in conjunction with CM Bai'et Decol and CPT Genie, has also started The Chalquilla Cup in which 3-man teams will compete for supremacy in Star Wars Squadrons. Can't wait to see what happens there.
I was also alerted to the fact that apparantly the Challenge is the only unit to not have a patch for the website. This cannot be, and so I have submitted Let not the Challenge be left behind, which will start in a day or so (assuming of course the COO approves it, but I have no doubt on that). You have until the end January to submit your design to me in either JPG or PNG formats. Let's see what you guys come up with (PS: this one is open to all TC members).
The TCCOM has also announced the results for TIE Corps in Battle 2020. The ISD-II Challenge didn't win, but that's only because we didn't have all year to compete. Our pilots did great and have earned plenty of medals. Kudos go out to Tempest squadron for bagging the competition as top squadron!
New guidelines for competitions are in effect. All commanders are highly encouraged to run squadron competitions, but keep them limited. No year-long ones please, since we've seen many of those come and go in the past years. They all start out fiery and great, only to die a slow death after a few months. The TCCS has also been working on a plan to incorporate not just the Single Player achievements of a pilot in the Wings that are displayed on your uniform, but also the Multiplayer aspect. Currently, the Wings displayed is determind only by your FCHG rank, so no MP component. I've added my two cents on that, and we'll see what the final outcome will be.
This week we welcome another new SL aboard the ship, as SL Gamerlorian15 takes a seat in one of Eagle's X-wings. Welcome aboard!
I don't often emphasize medals in this part of the report as they're listed below, but sometimes you can't not do that. This week, one of our pilots became the recipient of a rare Iron Star, the one with the Platinum Wings. Congratulations, LCM TI-40026.
Lastly: I already remarked on it before, but there's a good number of pilots (or should I say 'a bad number') who have not been very active. As in, not even communicatoions. While we all have a real life, and while
that always comes first, it only takes a minute to send an email. If you know you're going off the grid for awhile, let someone know, lest ye be shipped off to the M/FRG Phoenix. More importantly, try to
make time to do something. Even a single response to a trivia question is actually more than what some pilots have been doing, and one email a month can't be too much to ask.

Let not the Challenge be left behind
It seems that when you look on the TC news page, every unit has a patch displayed. Except the mighty ISD-II Challenge. We cannot be left behind! So - submit your design to Dempsey before the end of january and fix the problem! open to the entire TC>
Dempsey's Weekly Screenshots
Every week, the report will have a screenshot. Not necessarily from a Star Wars movie. First Challenge pilot to send the correct answer to the mailing list wins.
Each victory earns you an IS-BR. Unless it's a 5th victory, you then get a IS-SR. Unless it's a 10th victory, which gives you an IS-GR!
Remember - your answer has to go to the list.
