Reminder: X-Wing VM (XWVM) Now Officially Supported!Friendly reminder that the X-Wing VM (XWVM) community project is now officially supported and available for use in single-player gaming, both for the in-game campaign as well as all previously released Emperor's Hammer X-Wing custom missions! If you're not familiar with it, XWVM is a new mod released last year that provides a way to play classic X-Wing like never before! This particular app/mod requires players to have their own installation of X-Wing, but loads that classic game in a new app that recreates the game play of the original game, only with modern graphics, effects, quality of life enhancements, and other modern tweaks that greatly enhance the experience of the original game! (It also comes equipped with a tool for creating your own custom droid, who can accompany you on missions that utilize an X-Wing or a Y-Wing. Not a bad perk for what is already a pretty stellar enhancement to a real classic!) You can download XWVM from the project's XWVM ModDB page. If you tried it last year, make sure you're updated to the latest version (XWVM Alpha 20251116) first - there's been a lot of great improvements from the original release, including changes to pilot files that are required for submissions to work right on the website. When playing custom missions, make sure you use the battles and frees marked XWVM - there's a number of changes (including relevant installation instructions) that have been made to ensure all our custom missions will work correctly in this new platform! Please feel free to reach out to me if you encounter any issues playing XWVM! This is a platform that is sure to be worth a lot of points for next month's Raise the Flag competition, so if you're interested in giving it a go, now is the time to work it out! |

Competition Reminder: Fly Straight Down the Middle - 2026Our own COL Jagged Fell III is once again running a "Fly Straight Down the Middle" SP competition! This competition runs through August, and every week challenges pilots to prove whether or not they can be the most average pilot in the TIE Corps! As a quick refresher, a new free mission is assigned weekly for this competition. Pilots are encouraged to try to be "average" - not the worse, not the best, just straight down the middle, as the competition says! Each week, the pilot with the score closest to the average of every participant will win for that week! Simple! Free missions rotate between TIE, XvT, XWA, and wild (any of the three + TFTC) every four weeks. IS-BW and IS-CW are awarded weekly for the top two most average pilots respectively for that week. IS-SW, IS-BW, and IS-CW will be awarded monthly to the top three most average pilots respectively that flew every mission for a given month. IS-PW, IS-GW, IS-SW, IS-BW, and IS-CW will go to the top five most average pilots respectively that flew at least 15 of 17 missions. ORAs awarded monthly to every pilot that flew each mission that month. 2 ORAs awarded at end of season to every pilot that flew at least 15 of the assigned missions. We are into the final month! Competition Announcement: Squadrons RodeoLC Gabba Gabagool is running a Squadrons competition that challenges pilots to finish an objective in a fleet battle as quickly as possible! Specifically, pilots should start a custom fleet battle match on the Esseles map, with mods set to "Raider/Corvette to lowest health and shields" and "Max Aux (5.0)". All other settings should be set to Default. Pilots may fly whatever ship they like with whichever loadout they desire. Once the battle is launched, the objective is to destroy 1 of the Frigates/Nebula as quickly as possible. A screenshot must be taken the moment the "Capital Ship Destroyed" prompt appears on the screen announcing the destruction. Screenshots should be submitted directly to LC Gabba Gabagool via email (BlackHeartG60@gmail.com) or Discord (blackheartg60). Screenshot must include player's name, the time, and the prompt. Competition Announcement: A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words...MAJ Mack Udar is running an art competition that asks you to depict your Battlegroup! Pilots are challenged to create a piece of art depicting their Battlegroup. Can be any scenario you can think of, whether that be a battle, repairs, a patrol, a Chalquila run... whatever your imagination comes up with!
