May the Fourth be with you! Imperial Storm VIII has concluded! We have survived! And while we find ourselves in-between large-scale fleet events, there's still plenty of activities going on around the fleet and within this Battlegroup! Let's take a look around and what's going on, as well as take one last peek back at Imperial Storm VIII! |

Competition Recap - Imperial Storm VIIIThe TIE Corps Expeditionary Force has survived. Limping back to their previously captured fuel depot in the Gasriese System, the fleet is alive, but battered and damaged, unable to effectively move from the fuel depot for the time being. For now, the danger has passed. For a moment, the fleet may breathe... but that moment that will not last long... Imperial Storm VIII has come to an end! What started out as a cakewalk for our forces took an unexpected turn into a forced retreat, but nevertheless we have managed to survive! My thanks to each and every pilot who participated in this year's competition! I'm proud to say that Battlegroup III (along with Spectre Squadron) was responsible for nearly half of all damage inflicted on the First Order. It goes without saying that this operation would not have had its successes (nor seen our survival) without the very efforts of this Battlegroup! Thank you again! If you haven't had a chance to do so yet, please fill out the Warfare Officer's survey about Imperial Storm VIII this year. This information helps us make each fleet competition better every year! Before we close the book on this year's Imperial Storm, I'd like to go around the horn and hand out a few kudos for this Battlegroup...
Finally, thanks again to every pilot who contributed! Every pilot who participated in this year's event has been awarded the Voice in the Dark campaign medal in honor of your contribution! Competition Reminder: TIE Corps in Battle Season 9 - Final RoundWe've reached the final round of this season of TIE Corps in Battle, and Battlegroup III is only four points behind Battlegroup II for the victory! With only four points separating us from the lead, the biggest thing we need right now is simply more participation. Flying as many of the above battles as you can will help put us over the edge and give us the victory! Competition Announcement: Fly Straight Down the Middle - 2026Our own COL Jagged Fell III will once again be running a "Fly Straight Down the Middle" SP competition over the next four months (May through August), where the goal is to be the most average pilot in the TIE Corps! How does it work? It's simple! Every week, a new free mission will be assigned. Pilots are encouraged to try to be "average" - not the worse, not the best, just straight down the middle, as the competition says! Each week, the pilot with the score closest to the average of every participant will win for that week! Simple! As this is a season-long competition, there will be monthly and season awards as well. Scores will be averaged monthly, with the pilot closest to the monthly average winning the monthly award. At the end of the season, all scores for the entire competition will be averaged, and the most average pilot will be awarded the season award, including the coveted title of "Most Average TIE Corps Pilot"! Free missions will rotate between TIE, XvT, XWA, and wild (any of the three + TFTC) every four weeks. IS-BW and IS-CW will be awarded weekly for the top two most average pilots respectively for that week. IS-SW, IS-BW, and IS-CW will be awarded monthly to the top three most average pilots respectively that flew every mission for a given month. IS-PW, IS-GW, IS-SW, IS-BW, and IS-CW will go to the top five most average pilots respectively that flew at least 15 of 17 missions. ORAs awarded monthly to every pilot that flew each mission that month. 2 ORAs awarded at end of season to every pilot that flew at least 15 of the assigned missions. Competition Reminder: Brush Up On the Original Games: Brush Up On the Original Games: XvT: Balance of Power and X-Wing AllianceThe TAC office is proud to announce that it has added the original campaigns for X-Wing Alliance and X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter: Balance of Power to the Mission Compendium! This means, for the first time ever, pilots can get credit for flying and completing the base game campaign missions from X-Wing Alliance and from X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter: Balance of Power! To celebrate this addition, the TAC office is running a competition during the months of April and May to encourage pilots to go back and play these two original games. Pilots will be awarded 1 point for every original campaign mission they complete, with additional points awarded for mission and battle high scores. The top four pilots with the most points at the end of the competition will be awarded the appropriate Iron Star. An ORA will be awarded to each pilot for every four tours of duty/battles they complete. An IAR will be awarded to the first five pilots to complete each game. Platform Announcement: Star Conflict End-of-Life October 2026With a heavy heart, I am sad to announce the official end-of-life for one of our supported platforms. Star Conflict has announced that it will be shutting down on October 10, 2026. For anyone who would like to give this game a try before the official shutdown that hasn't already, you have until May 15th to register a new account. Afterwards, the game will only be accessible to current users until the shutdown date. I will personally be looking forward to giving Star Conflict a hearty send-off during this year's Raise the Flag in September. Competition Announcement - Trivia for the Challenged Season 13Trivia for the Challenged is back, just in time for May the Fourth! I've decided to do away with the yearly season tags and have instead reverted back to plain, old numbers. Which brings us to lucky Season 13 of this Battlegroup III tradition! Every Monday, a new set of four trivia questions is posted on the #bg3-competitions-announcements channel on the Discord server, with topics ranging from quotes, characters, ships, places and just about everything in-between! Questions remain open for one week. This week's trivia can be found here! This week's trivia will run through end of day (EH/UTC time), May 10th. Rules remain the same as the previous season. Announcement: Tempest Squadron Commander Position Open for ApplicationsMAJ Morgoth is looking to step away from his current position. As a result, the position of Tempest Squadron Commander is now open for applications! Applicants are expected to have completed Squadron Management 6 (or any of its earlier versions), achieved at minimum the rank of Lieutenant Commander, and be willing and ready to take up the administrative work of running a squadron - including completing Monthly Squadron Evaluations, submitting medal recommendations, promotion recommendations, and more.
