| Welcome all to the third Scorpion squadron report, reflecting a quiet post-RtF period. Formal reporting has long been a traditional form of communicating news and changes to pilots, but the dominance of Discord as the primary platform for us and the constant back and forth (or not) of chat rather relegates these to an additional admin function. I must admit that I struggle to consider what content might be useful when any awards, promotions, transfers or otherwise are already broadcast and celebrated club-wide. Musing aside, after a really solid RtF final position, albeit on the back of 3 pilots only, we've been joined and left by a number of new pilots. It's a natural part of the TC experience and for every 3 or 4 that come and go there's always a pilot or two that stays for the long haul and becomes part of the furniture, but it's been a frustrating few months with new joiners that largely don't communicate or simply leave the server without so much as a goodbye. That's ultimately a problem for me, but if for any reason we have new pilots who think Scorpion isn't the right fit for them I have two real questions - what can we do to change your mind and have you thought about trying a different wing or squadron that might suit better before you leave entirely? Alternatives always exist, whether a different atmosphere or leadership, gaming focus or niche interest - so give it a thought. We stand to lose 3 pilots to AWOLs on the back of November's MSE and potentially another in the weeks to come, which is the last thing I want to see. |

I want Scorpion to be a relaxed squadron with a great community first and foremost. I'll happy support and facilitate any flying, art or other activity you each may want to pursue, but most of all I want to see you all chatting online and shaping Scorpion from the ground up. One element I will highlight now as it's pertinent to all new joining SL's is... Promotion to LT A Sub-Lieutenant earns their promotion to full Lieutenant by completing any of the following tasks: - Completing an EH battle or free mission for X-Wing, TIE Fighter, X-Wing versus TIE Fighter, or X-Wing Alliance - Earning an Iron Star, ORA, Legion of Combat/Skirmish, Medal of Tactics, or Commendation of Service - Submitting a complete Imperial Navy Pilot Record (INPR) - As little as 5 minutes effort! - Completing any Imperial University (IU) course - See the Steam or E-Wing Advanced courses! |
