SQUADRON COMMANDER'S CORNER |
Since the day I became the Commander of Rho, three tours of duty ago, I have been preparing for the rise of the Kilji threat. My instincts were proven right earlier this year during Imperial Storm when our armadas met inside the Unknown Regions. Every squadron in the TIE Corps fought hard against an unrelenting blitz. We suffered many losses as deadly skirmishes played out over multiple quadrants, each Battlegroup holding the line. Our pilots stepped up with great skill, conviction, and planning, but an honest assessment with even the most generous of appraisals would consider our then final standing to be at best a draw - losing the battle but promising a war to come. For the Emperor’s Hammer, a draw is an inexcusable loss. Not since the Rebel Alliance have we suffered an insult like this. In the aftermath of this injustice, and to better prepare for the day the Kilji returned, the TIE Corps started our grueling ReMobilization VI wargames. My beloved Rho Squadron took it upon itself to step up, redouble our efforts and commit to completing every objective the Admiralty could set. With blood, sweat, and tears, we completed all tasks, undefeated in a seemingly endless list of challenges. It was a tremendous feat, but not good enough - a Kilji threat that can evenly match our forces is not a nemesis you can underestimate. New blood was needed - and it came in the form of LCM Rosh Nyine and LT Shantell Nyine, a deadly duo who became a force to be reckoned with under the training of Rho elites and the Corps. With them aboard and the extensive preparations put into place, when the Kilji were found to be growing in numbers, even extending past our projections, Rho Squadron was ready! With Rho alumnus fr0Zen now leading Battlegroup II; my roles as CMDR, TOA of the TFC Council, and Assistant Recon Officer; the Baron CPT Vanguard leading the Corps in solo and covert expeditions and fresh off his top pilot accolade from the previous year; CPT Miguel's work in the Combat Operations Office; LCM Rosh Nyine stepping up as my SQXO; RA Morgan heading up the EH Recon Office; CPT Isabis Kamaria as my Flight Leader; my apprentice CPT Davy Jonez’s work as Assistant Recon Officer and head of cargo and munitions for Battlegroup II; the veteran COL Westric Davalorn's years of combat and bureaucratic experience; the fresh blood and promise of LT Shantell Nyine; and tactical support with LT Alexmadv Corachan, LCM Jaquel Rainrix and LCM Rotarg Kradak, I knew there was nothing the Kilji scum could throw at us that we couldn't handle and reciprocate tenfold. We stood our ground and fought for the glory of the Empire. When the blasters stopped firing and the dust settled, not only had the TIE Corps won a decisive and complete victory in the war but Rho Squadron stood above the rest as top squadron! This is a feat I am immeasurably proud of my squadron for achieving. My deepest appreciation is also extended to everyone in Lambda Squadron for matching our efforts and skill, and through the riggers of friendly competition helping to motivate us to be the best pilots we could be!
