THE NEW EMPIRE (Continuation)

IV

- This is Ok. Hold and take him to the corridor…
- Ok. Sublieutenant, hold to me…that’s it…
While I managed to open my eyes I could distinguish the white uniform of the Imperial medical corps. A numerous staff was around me examining the rests of a conveyor…
- Where is me?…
- Aboard the Intrepid, Sublieutenant, the doctor answered. Because of his thinness and blue eyes, I deduced that he was from the central planets. He meant that he was graduated from one of the main Imperial medicine academies. I was in good hands.
- You only have a few scratches, he answered. You and the other three crew members on your right side. But there are two members, which have not been rescued yet from the rests of your conveyor. Stay seated here. I will take care of the other wounded people.

While I lost sight of him in the crowd, I could see my other fellows. They were right. We had been lucky to come out unhurt even though two of my companions were still trapped inside the conveyor Lambda.

- Hey, Branet. How do you feel?
- O’Ryan… I’m fine. I’ m rather well considering that I escaped from a sure dead. How are the others?
- Some scratches, spring of asphyxia and minor contusions, but they are rather well and in the mood to take a revenge. Have you herd about our current situation?
- I know as much as you, O’Ryan. But from what I can see, things are not coming well by here.

I could notice a big flow of officers going from one place to another and numerous groups of pilots in their battle costumes moving towards a prefixed direction. Certainly, an attack wave was being planned. From the crowd, I could distinguish an officer coming to us. His face denoted deep concern and his determined attitude showed the hard moments lived by the majority of the destroyer’s crewmembers.

- Welcome, Sirs. I am Captain D.T. Hammer, leader of the squadron Hunter. I am sorry about circumstances you had to go through, but we are in the middle of a rebels attack. We have been able to moderately reject two attack waves, and we are preparing a counterattack now. By orders of the Intrepid Captain, your assignments are revoked and you will be now part of my squadron. Follow me to the assembly room to get knowledge of the last events.

We moved through intricate corridors with intermittent lights and closed security locks until we get a large salon, full of machinery and spaceships spare parts. The informal character showed by the room revealed the urgency of the war decisions that were being taken. There were a lot of high ranked officers and pilot groups, some of them with disarranged and worn out uniforms and battle equipment, which indicated that a fight had been developed around the destroyer.

In a corner, the Lieutenant Von Predator was examining the war equipment. His right arm was bandaged and some evident blood stains. While Captain D.T. Hammer was moving to the destroyer commander, four Sublieutenants cheerful gathered around him.

- Well, Lieutenant - Sublieutenant Eldanor said, while he widely smiled.
- We thought we had missed you.

It was almost true – Von Predator answered- If the Captain D.T. Hammer had not acted, no one of us would be here now.

Leaving the equipment that he was examining out, he told us the details of our rescue and the current situation the Intrepid was facing.

- While the Intrepid patrolled the Alpha One sector, near the system Sigma Deltanor –he started explaining- He received a sub space coded message directly from the high command. He had to change the course immediately to quadrant Omega. A long-range patrol had detected a frigate, Nebulae class, near the system Orientar, where alertness post Burok is located. When arriving to the indicated coordinates, they faced the frigate, which immediately launched two squadrons of fighter-bombers against the Intrepid. Captain Murray, the Intrepid commander, rapidly reacted and sent Squadron Hunter, which was in charge of Captain D.T. Hammer, and Squadron Omega in charge of Lieutenant Ecbatar, in order to intercept them.

- When dispersing the enemy bombers, -he continued-, he could distinguish from the distance that enemy X-Wing attacked a Lambda class Conveyor. He immediately leaded his interceptor, along with a part of his squadron, to move away the X-Wing, but our conveyor already drifted and was seriously damaged.

- I can assure that we were really lucky –he added- because rebel forces completely fell back to their frigate. This allowed the Captain to ask for another conveyor to tow and take us aboard the Intrepid.

- In that moment, the Lieutenant made a pause, and then he added with a worrying tone.

- What most surprised to Captain D.T. Hammer, according to what he confidentially told me later, was the fact of proving that –even though the enemy bombers and fighter- bombers were a rebel army kind like-, the type of weapons, the maneuvers and the strong shields they had, indicated that they belonged to another kind of organization.
Then he vigorously added. – No speculations, Sirs. What I just said is not official. What it matters now is the fact that we are going to counterattack. Moreover, look at this. – He pointed out the war equipment lying on the ground. – We are going to wear new equipment. Pick it up and put it on right now.

Immediately afterwards, he started putting on the equipment, that was a new kind of war pilot uniform.

  • Commodore's Library
Each month in the commodores report their will be a new theme listed. Write at least a paragraph about the theme to participate. Winner will get the title of Commodore's Librarian and will choose the next theme for the report.

  • Top Muse
Each week submit your idea to AD Pete Mitchell for participation.

  • Wing II Commander's Escort Flight / Warrior Commodore's Escort Flight
These are MP and SP versions of the same comp: fly enough missions to rank among the top four on the Warrior for the month to earn points. Iron Stars are awarded to the top four every month with a quarterly bonus. For the Commodore's Escort Flight, LoCs and LoSs are summed for the total.

  • TIE Corps on Patrol
For 2018, TCoP is moving to every other week. VA Pete Mitchell is taking the TCoP helm this year, so please note that BSF emails/pilot files will be due by 5 pm Pacific/8 pm Eastern/1 am London one every other Monday starting January 15.

  • TIE Corps Pilot League
Like TCoP, the Pilot League is a single-player comp taking place every other week. The difference here is that pilots have a rolling handicap. Each round, the pilot with the highest handicap score (expressed as a percentage of the high score) in each platform will earn 4 points. The next highest score will earn 3, the next highest 2, and all other submissions will earn 1. If the winning pilot in a platform also beat the high score (without the handicap added), that pilot will earn 5 points for that platform.

  • TIE Corps on Recon
Submit a screenshot each week from one of Star Conflict's multiplayer game modes (Domination, Beacon Hunt, PvE, Team Battle, and Combat Recon). Iron Stars are awarded weekly and monthly based on unique criteria for each game mode.

PROJECT 659
The Project 659 competition continues! The pilots of Sin have all the month of November to complete these battles for the platforms TIE Fighter, X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter, and X-Wing Alliance.

Every battle BSF earns you one point; the first pilot to submit the BSF for each assigned battle earns a bonus point, and additional bonus points are awarded for ≥80% of the existing high score and a further bonus point if you beat the high score. The points will be tracked and an IS-BW medal awarded for every 5 points and an IS-SW medal for every 20 points.
