SIN CMDR: MAJ Hav Antiel REPORT DATE: 29 October 2017 |
|
Another week, another Formula 1 race airing on broadcast TV. With the F1 championship hanging in the balance, I hope you won't mind if I continue on last week's racing theme as I ask the question... Which F1 Driver Would Sin Pilots Be? Sinner: MAJ Hav Antiel F1 Counterpart: Daniel Ricciardo A crowd favorite, 'Danny Ric' is known for his good humor and unique podium celebration (the 'shoey'). Although he's not always the fastest driver on his team, he's capable of greatness when the leaders falter. MAJ Hav Antiel is certainly not the most skilled pilot on the roster, but his quirky reports and enviable sideburns have helped him start to earn a place in the TC mythos. Sinner: MAJ Wondra F1 Counterpart: Kimi Raikkonen A former world champion, Kimi 'Ice Man' Raikkonen has lost a bit of his edge but remains quick and reliable. MAJ Wondra is a former squadron commander who comes through every June with strong numbers for RtF. Sinner: MAJ Spiffy the Chicken F1 Counterpart: Pascal Wehrlein A leading driver in DTM before moving to F1, Pascal Wehrlein moved to Sauber this season after his former team folded. MAJ Spiffy the Chicken has found success in a variety of forumulae and looks to make his mark with a new squadron. Sinner: MAJ Xavier Sienar F1 Counterpart: Felipe Massa One of the most experienced drivers in F1, race winner Felipe Massa made an amazing recovery following a serious injury in 2009. Despite concerns that he would retire last season, Massa returned in 2017 and hasn't looked back. Like Massa, MAJ Xavier Sienar is a seasoned veteran who was held back by RL concerns. But the TAC is back and seems ready for continued greatness Sinner: LC Earnim Branet F1 Counterpart: Sebastian Vettel A four-time champion, Sebastian Vettel is equal measures affable and competitive. Always a threat to win, Vettel has led Ferrari to a renewed pace in 2017. Like Vettel, LC Earnim Branet is skilled and good natured. LC Branet's leadership has led Sin's Flight III to become one of the higlights of the TC. Sinner: LCM Rando F1 Counterpart: Max Verstappen The wunderkind of F1, Max Verstappen exploded on the scene by taking his first victory at age 18, becoming the youngest driver to win a grand prix. LCM Rando is no rookie, but his explosive efforts since joining the TC in August have made it clear to all that he's a Sinner: LT Eren Iren F1 Counterpart: Estaban Ocon Since joining the F1 circuit late last season, Esteban Ocon has earned some strong finishes, catching the attention of Mercedes in the process. LT Eren Iren has quickly established himself as an active pilot with some serious SP skills. Sinner: GN Exar Kit F1 Counterpart: Fernando Alonso A two-time world champion, Fernando Alonso has been hampered in recent years by the technical limitations of his car. GN Exar Kit is a seasoned veteran with some impressive achievments, but he, too, has been hampered by technical issues of late. OK, I swear that's my last F1-themed WSR. At least until next season. |

I spent the last week working through the TIE Fighter: Infiltrator Wing missions, and I have to admit that I'm happy to put them behind me. It was a unique challenge to fly rebel machinery (and a bit of a breath of fresh air after flying so many T/D and Missile Boat missions), but there are some quirks of those alphabet fighters that I wasn't pleased with. The X-Wing was especially touchy, and the lasers are so far out on the wings that I had trouble taking out mines. The B-Wing's weapons are even further out, especially the missile launcher. The A-Wing was nimble and well-armed, but I was surprised by its tame acceleration. I thought the A-Wing was supposed to be the 'hot rod' of the rebel fleet. At times, the IW missions felt like bizarro world. Many missions saw EH-backed A-Wings and X-Wings defending EH Mon Cals from rebel TIE variants flying from rebel star destroyers. Why?? The later missions didn't suffer from this as much, and I was very surprised to see a mission created by our very own MAJ Xavier Sienar (TIE-IW 16, 'Home Turf') I don't know much about the old Infiltrator Wing, but I was expecting more missions that required, you know... infiltration. Maybe I'll see more of those when I start flying the IW missions for XvT and XWA. I'm only a handful of missions away from a new FCHG rank, so I'll be moving on to the Dark Brotherhood missions next. Wish me luck!
