SQUADRON COMMANDER'S CORNER

I was very pleased to receive a major announcement via email this afternoon: I was promoted to major! (Sorry/not sorry for the bad pun there, pilots.) It was very nice to read the kind words in AD Plif's promotion recommendation, and it meant a lot to me to receive the congratulations of my fellow Sinners in the Google Group annoucement.

I know that the TIE Corps is just a gaming group; our medals and promotions aren't real, after all. Nevertheless, the camaraderie, competition, and support I experience as a TC pilot has brought me a great amount of real joy. Heck, I think it's legitimately hilarious that my only real shot a competing with LT Rando is in a low-score competition (TIE Golf). And just the other day, I used the story of AD Miles Prower sending me a copy of TIE Fighter and logging into my system to help me troubleshoot as a true example of hands-on leadership.

I'm really enjoying my time as your commander, pilots, and the pride I feel as I compile the reports of your medals, missions, and high scores is real.
SQUADRON NEWS
  • LT Rando swept TCoP earning three new high scores in the process. Dynamite stuff, pilot!
  • Your humble CMDR has been promoted to major.
  • Sin pilots took 1st and 2nd place in every TCoP category.
COMPETITIONS

I will summarize competitions that apply to Sin in this section, but you should always check the Competitions Center and Combat Center for full details on all competitions.

  • The Price of Sin - This is a weekly competition with a separate IS-BW awarded to the pilot earning the greatest number of LoC/LoS or highest number of SP missions flown. Minimum criteria for award is 2+ pilots participating across any of the 3 categories.

  • Warrior Trivia - Each week, Plif will send out a link pointing to five trivia questions for Wing II pilots to answer. The trivia questions will come from the canon Star Wars Universe and various Emperor's Hammer manuals, including the TIE Corps Pilot Manual. Whoever correctly answers all five questions the fastest wins an IS-BR.

  • TIE Corps on Patrol - Each Saturday, Woody will announce a free mission for TIE, XvT and XWA. Your mission: earn the highest score. For each platform, the weekly winner will receive an IS-SW, and second will receive an IS-BW. Participants also accumulate points for their participation.

  • TIE Corps on Recon - Submit a screenshot each week from one of Star Conflict's multiplayer game modes (Domination, Beacon Hunt, PvE, Team Battle, and Combat Recon). Iron Stars are awarded weekly and monthly based on unique criteria for each game mode.

  • TIE Corps vs AI - Submit a screenshot each week from Star Conflict's Player vs. AI modes. Iron Stars are awarded weekly and monthly based on unique criteria for each game mode.

CLOSING COMMENTS
Sinners continue to shine in TIE Corps on Patrol. Unfortunately, I waited too long to get started on the XvT and XWA missions, and I didn't complete all three as promised. However, I downloaded this week's XvT mission, and I'm aiming to sort out the technical issues after I submit this report (thanks to Dempsey's help).

With the end of the year approaching, I'm starting to think about new competitions for the squadron. What would you like to see, pilots?
  • Wiki racing?
  • Trivia?
  • Yearly/montly/weekly flying comps?
  • A comp focused on increasing our Squadron Citations?
  • Something... completely different?
I'm curious to know your thoughts.
