SIN WEEKLY SQUADRON REPORT #14
SIN CMDR: CPT Hav Antiel
REPORT DATE: 3 September 2017
SQUADRON COMMANDER'S CORNER
In this week's episode of Fun Facts, we'll take a closer look at the statistics behind Fleet Commander's Honor Guard points. What is the Fleet Commander's Honor Guard, you ask? To quote from the TC Pilot Manual:

The Fleet Commander's Honor Guard is a special ranking system that rates pilots and officers in the TIE Corps by combat activity and performance using a point system. [...] For combat activity, points are awarded for flying and completing missions or winning online combat engagements.

Pilots earn FCHG points for every mission flown. Iron Stars and high scores are worth additional points. So what's the big deal?

This afternoon, I compiled FCHG data for all active TC pilots. I was curious to find out which pilots, squadrons, and ships have the most FCHG points. I also wondered if I could find any interesting or surprising patterns along the lines of positions and ranks among active members. In no particular order, here are Five Fun Facts about the FCHG Data.
  1. Delta pilots combine for the most FCHG points, almost four times as many as bottom-ranked Alpha. Depite having four active pilots with zero points, Delta also maintains the highest FCHG average.

  2. Despite only hosting two active pilots, the Challenge has the third-most FCHG points, almost twice as many as the Sovereign (home to seven active members).

  3. Pilots holding the rank of general top the list-by-rank with 29,121 combined points. Only rear admirals hold a higher average, thanks to the 3,000+ points clocked by the solitary RA (Pete Mitchell).

  4. With close to 40 pilots holding the position of flight member, it's no surprise that they lead the list-by-position table with 36,457 points. The TCCOM tops the list when sorting by average.

  5. It would take exactly 40 pilots with the fewest FCHG points combined to top Anahorn Dempsey's amazing total of 6,729 points.
So there you have it. Maybe not the most fascinating facts, but I had fun looking through the data. I was also curious to find out where I rank among active pilots (22nd) and how Sin stacks up (4th overall; 5th by average). Granted, by the time I post this WSR, these rankings may have completely changed.

And just to be clear, I'm not trying to say that FCHG is the ultimate way of ranking pilots, squadrons, flag officers, or anything else. FCHG doesn't account for MP activity, which has grown significantly within the TC. I'm an SP pilot, so I looked at SP data. Perhaps I'll visit the Combat Rating and COOP/PvE listings data in the future.

CLOSING COMMENTS
August ended quietly in Sin Squadron with MAJ Branet, LT Rando, and your humble commander flying missions in the last week of the month. I am only able to award the Price of Sin medal for MP this week as only Rando and I recorded SP missions (and my missions don't count for this comp). Congratulations MAJ Branet on your MP victory!

OK, time for a somber moment. For the second time in just over a month, we've seen an active squadron become deactivated. Beta Squadron was one of the first six squadrons created to house the pilots of the Emperor's Hammer; its history can be traced back to the very first EH newsletter. I'm sad to see the closing of a squadron with such a legacy. However, I'm glad that the pilots have joined my former squadron, Epsilon, to bolster its numbers. Change can be difficult, but it can be good, too.

For Sin,
