Sin Squadron
SIN WEEKLY SQUADRON REPORT #11
SIN CMDR: CPT Hav Antiel
REPORT DATE: 13 August 2017
SQUADRON COMMANDER'S CORNER
Your humble commander returned this afternoon from a brief holiday on Dosuun to find that the latest issue of The Commodore has been released. 'What's the Commodore?' you ask. Why, it's only the official newsletter of the Emperor's Hammer TIE Fighter Corps, that's all! The latest edition features graphics and fiction entries from Raise the Flag '17 (including a fine entry from yours truly that dares to question the existence of office supplies in the Star Wars universe).

The graphics section also features portraits of various officers of the Warrior courtesy of former Sin commander GN Jarek La'an, including a handsome portrait of your humble commander:

Check those sideburns, pilot!

Remember, pilots: Sideburns are essential to the war effort because Star Wars was filmed in the late 1970s because they bring great honor to the Emperor!

CLOSING COMMENTS
This is a great time to be an active member of Sin squadron, pilots. I'm flying like gangbusters, and we've been joined by two pilots in less than a week. MAJ Spiffy the Chicken brings veteran experience, and LT Rando has very quickly made himself known as a hotshot pilot by vaping our very own RA Pete Mitchell (among others) in MP sorties.

With LT Rando's first battles logged, I was looking forward to awarding the first Price of Sin medals in weeks, but alas! MAJ Branet did the unthinkable and didn't log any LoCs/LoSs this week! Kudos to MAJ Branet for that streak; this is the first WSR I've ever issued that didn't list a single LoC or LoS from the good major. But I'm not worried. It's only a matter of time before I'll be recommending those medals every week.

In an unrelated note, I have been searching the TC databases in search of more information regarding the early days of Sin Squadron aboard the SSSD Sovereign (as part of both Wing II and Wing VI). So far, I've been able to uncover the names of several CMDRs from those early days. It's easy to follow the history of Sin since its rebirth in 2014 (Plif, then Wraith, then La'an, then me), but I was surprised to learn that pilots like Mauser, Carl Lost, Enzo Matrix, Viper Pred (a former TCCOM!), Kyle Fardreamer, and Ramos Kanzco helmed our fair squadron dating back as far as 1999. There are several large gaps in what I've been able to uncover so far, but I hope to find out more from some of our veteran members soon.

Here's a fun fact about Sin to tide you over: To date, Kyle Fardreamer has held the longest tour of duty as Sin CMDR at 1 year, 3 months, and 10 days (only seven days longer than Plif's stint!) But that's not all: Fardreamer also held the shortest tour of duty at 29 days during his first abortive stint as CMDR.*

I would love to learn more about Sin's history and the history of the TIE Corps in general. What happened to the Sovereign? Why did Sin move from Wing II to Wing VI and then back again? Why is Sin the only active squadron not named after a letter of the Greek alphabet? I hope I can learn the answers to these questions and preserve them in the Encyclopaedia Imperia someday.

*Note: The TC database lists Mauser with a TOD of 26 days, but there is reason to question the veracity of the database in this instance.

Victory through superior hairpower!
