Epsilon Squadron
EPSILON SQUADRON WEEKLY REPORT #1
EPSILON CMDR: CM Hav Antiel
REPORT DATE: 10 January 2016
SQUADRON COMMANDER'S CORNER
Greetings pilots. I'm so proud to write this report as your new commander. I've been an Epsilon pilot since my first day in the Corps when I was assigned to Epsilon 3-2 as a Sub-Lieutenant. It's an amazing honor to lead this squadron. I'd be remiss if I failed to acknowledge my dedicated predecessor, GN Dunta Polo. In my nearly two years as a member of the TIE Corps, GN Polo has been a true mentor to me. He's a tough act to follow.

As your new commander, I hope to inspire this squadron to be the best it can be. But more on that in my closing comments. First, I'm going to need your assistance...

A squadron commander has many responsibilities. To be honest, it's almost too much! To help with my transition from Flight Leader to Squadron Commander, I submitted a formal requisition order to HA Anahorn Dempsey for an assitance droid, but, unfortunately, that request has been denied. But I've been thinking about it; the pilots of the Hammer are rather resourceful, after all. I have a feeling someone on board could hook me up with an R2-series astromech to help with my duties. We'd have to keep it under radar, of course. After all, I wouldn't want HA Dempsey to find out...
NEWS
  • After six years of service as Epsilon Squadron Commander, GN Dunta Polo decided to step down. He now serves as Flight Leader for Epsilon Flight III. He also received a Gold Star of the Empire for his excellent work in leading our squadron.

  • LCM Hav Antiel (that's me!) has been assigned as the new Epsilon Squadron Commander and earned a promotion to Commander.

  • LT Jarion Renalds has been assigned as Flight Leader for Alpha's Flight II. Congratulations, Lieutenant!
COMPETITIONS

I will summarize competitions that apply to Epsilon in this section, but you should always check the Competitions Center and Combat Center for full details on all the competitions.

  1. CMDR Antiel Needs a Droid! (Part 1) - Submissions due 23 January - This is a simple graphics and naming contest. Use the R2 unit template to design CMDR Antiel's new astromech assistant, and/or suggest a name for the droid (ex. R2-A0 / "Fonzie"). Once all submissions are in, Hammer pilots will vote for the winning design and name. The winning design and name will earn an IS-BR for the pilots responsible.

  2. Epsilon MP Ace of the Month - Until 31 December - Fly PvP missions on approved platforms and send me your screenshots and totals each week. The Epsilon pilot with the most multiplayer victories in the month will receive an IS-BW.

  3. Epsilon SP Ace of the Month - Until 31 December - At the end of each month, the Epsilon pilot who flies the most single player missions will receive an IS-BW. Each mission flown is worth one point for the purposes of this competition. Missions with high scores are worth two points.

  4. Epsilon Weekly Trivia - Weekly - Every day, I'll send a Star Wars-related trivia question via email. Respond individually, and the plilot with the most correct answers each week will receive an IS-BR. Additionally, the pilot with the highest score at the end of the month will earn an IS-SR.

  5. Epsilon Scholar of the Month - Until 31 December - Flex those Epsilon brains! Complete IWATS Courses (double points for a perfect score). The Epsilon pilot with highest score at the end of the month is awarded an IS-BR.

CLOSING COMMENTS
My goals as your new Squadron Commander are simple:
  1. Increase participation
  2. Encourage and have fun
  3. Rediscover Epsilon's personality
The first two are closely related, and I have a slew of unique and (I hope) interesting competitions that will spur the pilots of Epsilon to take part. Each month, I'll provide flying and non-flying opportunities to participate, but I'll always keep my focus on the things that drew me to the TIE Corps: a love of Star Wars and a desire to find a like-minded community.

The last goal - "Rediscover Epsilon's personality" - might require an explanation. The other squadrons of the TIE Corps seem to have their rites and rituals. They've developed identities. The minute a sub-lieutenant is drafted into Kappa, he learns that "HYPE!" is his new favorite word. Theta is the irreverant old-school squadron, and Sin Squadron seems to have a penchant for the occult. What makes Epsilon unique? That's up to you, pilots. You've probably noticed that I chose pink and black for this report (based on our current badge). Is that something we can build our identity on? Discovering (or rediscovering) that unique personality will do wonders for our moral, participation, and enjoyment as a squadron. Don't you agree?

Happy hunting,
