Description:
The primary vessel assigned as a dedicated communications support platform for the SSD Avenger, often utilised as a de-facto flagship by the COMM himself. The Herald was built by KDY as a dedicated command cruiser, following on from the similarly named light-cruiser class that had served the early Empire - additional holonet transceivers, comms relays and encryption systems allow it to fulfil its role. Operating with a reduced crew of c.400, much of its internal layout has undergone significant refit to better support its core role including a reduction in its offensive firepower, but it remains a vessel capable of defending itself when needed.
