Easy and repetitive battle with far too much waiting (especially when the interdictor has to capture the platform, and hypers in at the wrong place, so it has to turn around!) Also, it seems like a battle correction has made the maximum score on missions 2, 3, and 4 about half what the high scores are, which is a drag :P
Honestly I don't see how this got a lot of good reviews... The missions were all basically the same (kill squads upon squads of fighters and several caps, while some other operations might take place in the background), the goals were generally screwed up (descriptions are improper, prevention goals don't fail the mission even if they aren't met), the briefings were poorly designed, and there was apparently no correction of spelling or grammar by the beta corrector.
Amusing, but the missions themselves didn't have much action in them. 69 got a bit of action though, which was fun. All in all, I'd say the battle's a birdie, but not quite eagle material.
Well, the idea is quite interesting, but I didn't like the way that most of the missioins were quite similar... Why not just have the missions from the POV of the ASF/ATF group, since they're the only ones that use XvT officially? I wouldn't have minded 4 missions in this battle.
I feel that this battle is highly overrated... It felt very unpolished to me, and it seems like whoever did the beta correction of it wasn't doing a very good job of it. Aren't spelling and grammar mistakes supposed to be taken care of in the beta process? This battle's title has a mistake in it! I am understanding that the creator has English as a second or lower language, but somebody testing or correcting the battle ought to have been able to provide corrections! Besides that, the missions themselves have minor bugs with them. For example, some enemy As fail to arrive in mission 1 if a cruiser is destroyed before all the As have arrived, making the mission unfinishable. In mission 2, when taking a GUN it is nearly impossible to save the ATR from destruction (but relatively easy with a TA, was this battle tested with both craft?) In addition to this, the briefings don't even work half the time! Many screens skip by too fast to be fully read. In other words, this could be a good battle but badly needs to have a better correction job done on it.
Yeah, I think this is the worst battle of any I've ever played... Missions are nothing special, and beating them takes sooo many retries. Way too many craft for the platform. For some of the missions I had to draw up a schedule of when to destroy things so that the mission critical craft appear... not fun :P I've finally recovered enough from my hate of the battle to actually submit my review :P *NOTE* This was before the battle was updated, so don't think I'm nuts for the above review... Trust me, it was hell, I still have nightmares...
A fairly enjoyable battle for the most part, yeah. I love flying GUNs, so it appealed to me nicely :) I prefer having no choice of warheads, etc. too, it works for the plotline much more. Instead, we rotate squads, just the way it should be to see all parts of a battle :)
Not that great a battle... had a tendency to show messages once 100% of a flight group entered, when it should have been when the first one entered... In the first mission it took a few tries to realize that I had to let the Daedalus get disabled for the critical craft to arrive... annoying when you have to do a poor job to win the mission. Oh, and it's probably a good idea to look up how to spell Daedalus before putting it in a mission, btw ;)
The missions were kinda fun, but got a little rough by the end. A simple case of too many enemies and not enough friendlies. Mission 4 is really two separate missions in one: a task force arrives after you kill a convoy. It takes a while to beat. Some of the missions have like 50+ enemy Ys, Xs, and As too. Time-consuming :P
This was a very interesting battle, and I had fun playing it. My only concern was that I had to wait for over 5 minutes at the end of two of the missions (1 and 3). Oh well, I got a lunch break :)
This was a fun mission to fly, there's lots of enemy fighters to kill, and lots of different objectives going on at once to pay attention to as well. Very frantic, kill kill kill!
Really, the player doesn't even have to do anything but stay alive in this mission to beat it. The freighter craft pretty much do it all on their own, and you get to fly around picking off unshielded TIEs like you are catching fish in a barrel :P It's fun to kill them so easily, but not challenging.
I concur with Kawolski, a very easy FCHG point :) Even adding a couple of waves to the a-wings would make it a bit more challenging. It is also very easy to disable the frigate with Advanced Torps and 2 wingmen in GUNs.
It's a fun battle, maybe a little bit easy, but still good. On some missions the goals could be a little better, in one mission you only have to destroy some fighters to accomplish the mission goals even though the real subject of the mission is a capture operation. Still, quite fun to play.
Very good, mission 4 stands out as one of the most interesting XvT missions I've ever played, lots of double-crossing and other interesting stuff. Check it out :)
