Significant events of childhood: Subject SL Q. Merrow (hereafter "subject" or "QM") was raised on his home planet of Absanz and grew up idolizing the pilots who would operate the TIES produced at the local SFS facility.
According to subject, there was nothing of particular note before the "starstruck idiot child" (verbatim from subject) pursued further education at Skystrike, graduated in the middle of his class, and was eventually assigned to ISD Garrett.
Significant events of adulthood: When Lord Vader's ISD Garrett was disabled during the Zaarin Insurrection, the 23-year-old QM, having spent nearly every available moment in the newly developed TIE/D simulators, was deployed alongside five other TIE/Ds, including Col. Maarek Stele and Lord Darth Vader, for the desperate rescue of Emperor Palpatine over Coruscant. When asked how that was possible, given that four TIE/D prototypes were destroyed, QM replied "I survived. Didn't say anything about the ship."

Interviewer Note: Given the classification of prototype starfighter projects, it is currently not possible to confirm the veracity of his claim, but the accuracy of his provided details suggests truth.

Additionally, QM was present at the Battle of Endor, and claims to have been the last one out of the DS-II. When asked to elaborate on this claim, QM offered the following explanation (taken from QM's re-enlistment interview):

QM: "Maybe things would've been different if I had taken one of the labyrinthine turns a little faster, but by the time I had entered the reactor housing, the rebels had already popped it. That bloated vesti..."
[subject pauses for a moment before continuing]
QM: "The DS-II was done for, and… with a maelstrom of nuclear fire gnashing at my heels, I tailed that YT-1300 as close as I could manage. Their shields were shot, and their sensor dish had been destroyed. I probably could've killed them before they saw me, but it would've cost me my life. Needed all the power for my engines. Near the end, though, they saw me and could've killed me, but what I saw in their gunsight was maybe pity, maybe compassion for someone who was about to lose everything., or maybe cruelty for consigning me to a fate that could very easily have been worse than death; hurtling through the void in half a squint with my flightsuit melting into my flesh. Left the Empire after that."
Alignment and attitude: QM, as something of a veteran (despite the conspicuous thirty-year absence), does not conduct himself with more than the absolute bare minimum of decorum. Dour but not quite unpleasant, and capable of carrying on (and redirecting) a conversation (to the chagrin of this interviewer).

Despite the lack of decorum and some anti-authoritarian tendencies, QM is respectful and even kind to his fellow pilots. Interactions with superior officers vary from cold to pleasant depending on the SO's tactical effectiveness.

QM: "My house turned into a gargantuan nuclear fireball and the explosion melted my flightsuit to my skin."

QM: "I lived there. It was my house as much as Absanz was my planet."
Interviewer: "I see. Anything to add?"
QM: "No, that's pretty much the only thing that keeps me up at night. That and acid reflux. And other old man problems."

Views on the Empire and the Emperor's Hammer: QM: "No comment."
Interviewer: "This is a necessary field. 'No comment' will result in your application's rejection."

QM: "The Emperor's Hammer is the only organization that I know of that is willing and able to take the fight to the First Order on a scale that actually matters."
Interviewer: "And the Empire?"
QM: "It's definitely one of the governments I have ever encountered. Was, rather."
Reason for enlisting in the Emperor's Hammer: Interviewer: "But you returned after thirty years away. Why?"
QM: "Idiot centrists in the New Republic were ignoring the First Order brewing under their nose, and the rest of the bureaucracy kept any of their so-called peacekeeping forces from doing anything useful. I won't pretend I stayed away for three decades by accident, but my own misgivings were greatly outweighed by the possibility of snuffing out these insurrectionist pretenders."
