Significant events of childhood:
Graduation from the Starstrike Academy with nearly maximum points and as the best student of his year. Because of his ability to calculate the the movements of his targets, his friends called him Laplace. That stayed his nickname. In his year of the Starstrike Academy everyone had a small symbol visible on their TIE Fighter, which where connected to their nicknames. Derek's symbol were Dices.
Significant events of adulthood:
Some years after his graduation, he flew on an a small patrol flight with his comrades. The fleet consisted of one star destroyer, 48 TIE Fighter and 12 TIE Bomber. Suddenly something came out of the hyperdrive. It was an rebel attack fleet that planned an attack. They outnumbered the stardestroyer's fleet and applied critical damage to the star destroyer. The Captain knew that the fight was lost, and wanted a retreat, but he didn't have enough time to retrieve the TIE-Fighter. So he jumped into hyperdrive and let the remaining tie fighters back. The Squadron consisted of only newbies, and the pilots were about to give up and docked on the rebel capital ship. But not Derek. He tried to fight the rebel ship, willing to sacrifice his life to the empire and saving his comrades from becoming prisoners of war, but it was futile. His TIE-Fighter gained some critical damage and deactivated itself. The Rebel fleet, thinking that no one is left alive gets into the hyperdrive to fly back to their outpost. Derek tried to activate an emergency signal, butt his ship didn't have any power left, so he waited. After some days, some scrap collector's searched the battlefield for valuable materials. When they saw a little shimmer between an asteroid, they've discovered Derek's TIE Fighter with him on board. After they saw the symbol of the imperial senate, they knew that their little discovery would be worth some money and retrieved Derek at the verge of his death. Their wishes were true and received an quite big honorarium from his family for saving their oldest son. This was the day were Derek swore to never let the Rebels win like that ever again.

Derek has a big amount of patriotism for the Empire. He is also very ambitioned in training to get better.

None, since he always wanted to be a pilot since he was a kid.
Hobbies
In his free time, he trains with a flight simulator his accuracy. He also reads some books, but their are mostly about story's of some won battles of the empire.
Tragedies in life:
After the Battle of Endor, his family was sympathizing with the new republic, trying to keep their wealth. This was the point we're the communication of Derek and his Family completely stopped.

He has a big fear of being left behind by a star destroyer.
