There's a lot of bad goal-setting at place here, which really drags the battle down. First: with only a SO briefing officer, it's the Secondary Goals (and only the Secondary Goals) that must be completed, but there's primary goals at every mission - and there's a lot of both at all times! This goes a long way towards getting confused on what the mission is actually about. As mentioned before, Missions #2 and #3 have goals revolving around destroying all starfighters - always a bad idea, but makes for a particular rough time in Mission #3, where you will absolutely have to keep track of damaged starfighters at all times. Mission #4 made for a pretty rough time for me, where I wasn't aware that you'd need to destroy all the T/As (which were more interested in flying around in circles at the time then trying to attack me) to bring in the heavy support, which meant I ended up lasering 6 asteroid weapon platforms on my own. Not much fun!
I appreciate the attempts at something different for Mission #5 (cap ships WILL show up eventually and ram into the base, which should destroy it, no need for the player to do anything), but there's too many other problems and frustrations in place for me to recommend it.

A very neat battle ! The missions are well put together with a healthy level of challenge, particularly the first one. The plot's well delivered and well written.
The final mission's invincible asteroid is a theoretically interesting concept that is a little frustrating, but capital ships will eventually hyperspace in and take it out, that problem solves itself.
My forty-seventh battle in the TIE Corps.

One of the most frustrating missions i've played in a long time. The amount of replays I had to do because a ship got away due to being damaged and hypering out and thus missing the 100% of x craft has to be destroyed was way too high. If you have to scroll down because there are so many mission objectives than there is too much going on. Then the final mission is insane: Invincible asteroid station that you have to use your tractor beam to launch ships into. Took almost 40 minutes just to be able to do that and I nearly ran out of ships to beam. Extremely unenjoyable concepts, literally should be used in the mission creation course as the example of how not to create a mission. Skip this if you don't want to spend hours on frustrating missions.

It is a challenging mission. My biggest problem was that many missions require you to kill 100% of all fighters, yet several times a single fighter will escape to hyperspace or go back to its flagship because your wingmen had damaged it, yet not killed it. You basically have to babysit everything and make sure everything dies.

The missions were interesting and all quite different (which isn't always the case in battles). That was the good part. On the bad side, there's very clumsy and complicated mission structures. For example, in the last mission, it was quite sucky to learn by trial-and-error in which order I have to destroy stuff to not fail the mission. Enemy fighters who either go after their comrades or just circle around "looking for craft to attack" while I'm in their very middle slaughtering them aren't funny either. And why are there actually penalties on destruction of enemy cap ships? Does that make any sense? The storyline was a little dull, too. But it could be that it's just because I don't like that strange cortosis story from the EU. All in all, I can't give this more than two points.

Well, this battle looked like all the other TIE DB but it didn't turn out that way in the end. I would give this thing a 3 but the last mission was too incredible: It kept you on the edg for the whole 20 minutes or so and you never knew what was going to happen. I have never seen a mission like this and I think it is one of the greatest inovations in mission designe, its a fun hard battle to fly.
