What is repetition? What is mission design? What is the purpose of motherships when everything hyperspaces in anyway? What is the purpose of two factions when one is clearly not meant to be played? What is copy-pasting everything? What is the obsession with TIE Defenders? What is XvT-TC 28?

The first mission immediately lets you know what this battle is about. And when you reach around the middle of it, you'll know when, be sure to exercise some patience... Not sure how I feel about this one, so it will sit on a 3 out of 5.

Great example of fine mission creation. This battle depicts the events with great realism, even crazy encounters such as a single T/F against a STRKC. The length of the campaign is not an obstacle to this excellent gaming experience. Essential to those who want to relive the great glory of the past or know more about the TC. I dearly hope it becomes inspiring to immortalize current Imperial Storm III with the same mechanics.

Got a bit repetitive after a while, but other than that I found this to be quite fun.

This battle is basically a large mix of similar dogfight missions. It's entertaining and it's based on a real event. I don't give it a 5 because I think Ender gave too many waves to the flight groups.

This battle is PAINFULLY realistic...Its exactly like a wargame is...Thats not saying much about the fun factor but I admire how perfectly acurate Ender was with this hence why I shall bless it with a 4.

Well, the idea is quite interesting, but I didn't like the way that most of the missioins were quite similar... Why not just have the missions from the POV of the ASF/ATF group, since they're the only ones that use XvT officially? I wouldn't have minded 4 missions in this battle.

* EH Ship Patch for XvT

Installation instructions
--------------------------
1] Make sure you have the EH Ship Patch for XvT installed
2] Double click the .EHM file, the EH Battle Launcher will install the battle
3] Check the Misc folder in your XvT one for additional material like patches, sounds etc.
4] Press the X-wing vs TIE Fighter button on the EHBL to start the game
5] Create a new pilot and fly the Imperial training missions

Copy the Battle Battle3.lst and Mission.lst files of this custom mission into your "Battle" folder.
Copy the is2sb1w1.lst, is2sb1w2.lst, is2sb2w1.lst, is2sb2w2.lst, is2sb3w1.lst, is2sb4w1.lst, is2sb5w1.lst, is2sb6w1.lst, is2sb6w2.lst, is2cb1w1.lst, is2cb1w2.lst, is2cb2w1.lst, is2cb2w2.lst, is2cb3w1.lst, is2cb4w1.lst, is2cb5w1.lst, is2cb6w1.lst and is2cb6w2.lst files and the IS2B1, IS2B2, IS2B3, IS2B4, IS2B5 and IS2B6 folders of this custom mission into your "Wave" folder. (place the directory as a subfolder from /wave... as /wave/IS2B1 etc.)
Create a new pilot for the mission based on your name or PIN and the mission number. For example, SL Stele playing Free Mission 80 would make a new pilot file named "StelFM80." or a Pilot with PIN 2883 playing Free Mission 69 would make a new pilot file named "2883fm69"
Begin flying Battle One, play on till you've flown the 3rd mission of Battle Three.
note: the original .lst files in your train and combat files will be overwritten, you will not loose access to your exsisting Combat missions but because of EHTAC regulations the Training missions are replaced.

Combat Notes: IMPORTANT! ONLY USE THE SINGLE PLAYER MISSIONS (TRAINING MISSIONS) FOR HIGH SCORE SUBMISSION.
For these missions to work in MP, all players must have them installed on the same mission numbers, in this case "110" to "119". Preferably do not change these numbers.
TAC won't let you fly Combat Missions or XWA Skirmishes for FCHG Points, use the Single player mission for all TC flying outside of combat competitions.

Battle Description: This battle is based upon the TIE Corps wargame "Imperial Storm II: Dark Horizon" (IS2:DH), conceived and run by Flight Officer, Fleet Admiral Priyum Patel. IS2:DH was a follow-up to the wargame "Exercise: Imperial Storm" which was conceived and run by former Flight Officer, Fleet Admiral Kessler (ret). The wargame was based on Project: Faithful - which was originally designed & run by Vice Admiral IQ Pierce (ret).
The battle is a conversion of the original XWA skirmish files used (as far as available) using a "XvT Skirmish" template to test this mission type's usefulness in war gaming situations with the ultimate goal to come to war games on more platforms then just XWA. This offers some limitations towards this battle as a Single-Player experience:

The goal in a Skirmish is to destroy all opposing forces - as such all the missions have a Primary Goal of destroying 100% of the opposition.
War gaming Skirmishes hold almost 200 craft (2x94) - which means that some of the larger scale battles make for very long missions with quite a lot of waves (XvT can hold 32 craft at the same time, this means that you'd have up to 6 waves - per craft)
War gaming Skirmishes hold also a maximum of almost 200 craft - this means larger battles are split up in waves. To keep in with the full conversion these waves have not been combined to single missions - which means that you will probably have a larger mission in the first wave then in the last. (When both forces have been depleted)
Because the story line is based on actual tactics and strategies it doesn't hold to the classical battle structure of going towards a climactic final battle and you won't always have the opposition you'd wish you have - this is more realistic but it might cause strange effects for the classic mission flier. See it as "story driven"
Some of the XWA craft and possibilities are not there in XvT - adjustments have been made and this is the reason behind the required shippatch use.
Skirmishes have no briefings to speak of, the "animated" briefing still reflects this, Officer Questions, Radio Messages and such have been added.
The single player is always on the side of the winning team - or it could be next to impossible to complete. This is why the battle has been cut into 3 pieces of 3 missions each in which you fly for each of the 3 teams of IS2:DH. This means that the player doesn't follow the events of the wargame in complete chronological order (going through battle 1,3,2,4,5,6 in that order).

Story Line: The "basic way" of your Story line you can find on the Imperial Storm 2 site which is included. The "Battles" page gives a step by step description of each battle and which I updated to include all 6 battles, the "Map" page shows you where you are in the galaxy plus data on the planets involved, the "Forces" page shows you what craft to expect in the combat area and the rest is there to show you how a wargame like this is run and what it was all about.
The next way is to read the articles on IS2:DH in "The Vanguard", a ships newspaper of one of the TC ISDs which is set in the Star Wars Universe so you can get the fictional feel of things as well. A cutting of the newspaper has been added courtesy of CM Johann Glorick.
The most obvious way is to read the Descriptions of the Missions as well, there has been added some "Imperial Storm Data" in the descriptions too which elaborates on the goings on around each mission from a war gaming point of view

NOTES: You need the XvT (or at least all the ships involved there) AND Draconious' Ship Patch. To fly in Combat all players need the same version, make sure you all have the update by lucasarts installed.
Other Information: This is the first release of a testing purpose battle - it's main use was mostly to examine the possibilities of XvT war gaming and the usefulness of a "XvT Skirmish" template in war gaming in general. Bugs could arise - please mail me if they do - also if you have hints, death threats, questions or appraisals.
