A very pleasant and well-put together battle that sees you taking on a traitor fleet with enjoyable variety in its missions.

My sixty-sixth (!) battle in the TIE Corps.

A battle that is highly let down by the second four missions. Beware the obsession with capturing...:

A very enjoyable battle indeed. Still I'm nly giving it a '3' because of the last two missions. Taking down the shields on 2 or 3 cap ships with lasers, and then having to wait fr over 15 minutes until they're captured is too much.

Good battle. In mission 2 sadly I was unable to use the T/PH patch which is why I think it was updated and now you fly the Interceptor on that mission. The plotline was interesting and I liked the fact that it didn't have waves upon waved which made things realistic. Nice one Duj ;P

PLOTLINE SUMMARY
----------------
Defend the Emperor's Hammer against an attack by traitors from within the EH. Follow the
trail of treachery as it spreads through the subgroups of the EH and culminates in one
final mission.

MISSION 1: CONSPIRACY DISCOVERED
Main Subgroups Involved: TIE Corps, Intelligence Division

TEASER

In the farthest regions of Emperor's Hammer-controlled territory, there are no rules. The
heart of the empire is so far away that its presence is all but forgotten. It is a
no-man's-land with limited supplies and few resources, and neither the Emperor's Hammer
nor the New Republic has any REAL control.

Deep in these regions, a lone Interdictor cruises slowly through the darkness of space,
infinite and eternal, with nowhere to go and little to do. Inside the Interdictor, the
ship's Wing Commander (as the vessel is not important enough to warrant a full Commodore)
stood before his three Squadron Commanders. Indeed, the Wing Commander was lucky for
this complement. Most Interdictors had only a single squadron, but this one had been
stripped of every last one of its 140 troops, as well as many of its regular crew, to
make room for the three extra squadrons and the extra pilots. The hangars were converted
from walker bays; the pilots' quarters were orginally intended for stormtroopers. And
the ship was about 300 crewmen short of a full crew.

"As you are all quite aware," said the Wing Commander, "we have accomplished virtually
NOTHING in the last several weeks—months! Even these weekly briefings have become a
triviality. The only communication we receive from home consists of worthless reports
and orders that don't concern us."

"You can say that again," concurred the executive officer, also the commander of Diolkos
Squadron. "I can't remember the last time central command acknowledged our existence."
The Wing Commander turned his back to the four CMDRs and gazed out the window.

"I wonder if they would notice if we converted the Corinthian into a casino," joked the
CMDR of Odeion Squadron.

"I doubt it," said the Ibykos CMDR frankly.

"Indeed," said the Diolkos CMDR. "It is sad but true: the Emperor's Hammer notices
nothing we do, no matter how great, how trivial, or how absurd."

"We need to do something that would get us recognition," said the Odeion CMDR.
"Something remarkable. Something great. Capturing a critical Republic cruiser or base,
for example."

"Without authorization from home?" asked the CMDR of Diolkos. "I don't think the BGCOM
would be too happy about that one."

"Then the BGCOM--and all his superiors--can burn," said the Wing Commander ferociously,
whirling back toward the room with a fire in his eyes that his CMDRs had never seen in
him before. "I tire of taking orders from bureaucrats who do nothing more than sitting
in their office chairs and flying their desks."

The CMDRs glanced at each other, startled by the WC's sudden outburst. Then, the XO,
CMDR of Diolkos, slowly began to nod, as a smile grew on his face. Everyone in the room
realized that they had just chosen a new future for themselves.

MISSION SUMMARY AND WALKTHROUGH
-------------------------------
You will fly T/A Apollo 1-1. You are given instructions to "test" an asteroid to see
whether it is a suitable candidate for mining. To do so, you must fire on the asteroid.
You enter the mission from the hangar of INT Corinthian, several klicks away from the
asteroid. Fly to the asteroid and fire on it. (The alert pilot should be able to easily
tell that the so-called asteroid is actually a laser battery, but you can't do anything
about this at this point. Just fire on it.) Immediately, four TIE Defenders and two
Missile Boats, which had been hiding inside the crevices of the asteroid, fly out and
prepare to attack you, while the lasers of the asteroid suddenly activate and begin
firing in response to your attack.

Thirty seconds after you are attacked (if you are using invincibility, you MUST turn it
off so you can be attacked), your ID reinforcements, namely FRG Stormwind, will enter.
Congratulations: you've just completed your primary objectives. Now comes the hard part:
getting to the hangar. Of course, feel free to stay out and destroy some of the traitors
who attacked you if you're going for a high score.

MISSION 2: INSPECTION
Main Subgroup Involved: Intelligence Division

TEASER

"Sir!" the young lieutenant called.

The commander of the small supplies platform snapped his head up. He had almost fallen
asleep—again. "What is it?"

"We're receiving a transmission from deep space, sector 314."

"Ah," said the commander. "Put it on the screen, by all means."

The grim face of INT Corinthian's WC appeared on the screen, magnified to a height of two
metres.

"Jim!" said the commander of the platform, instantly recognizing his old friend. "What
are you doing in this part of EH territory?"

"The Corinthian's been assigned to deep space patrol for the last five months," explained
the WC. "But that's not important. What's important is what I'm about to tell you. I have
a proposal for you."

MISSION SUMMARY AND WALKTHROUGH

Simply inspect all the ships in the area. As long as you don't fire, you won't be fired
upon.

MISSION 3:
Main Subgroup Involved: Corporate Division

TEASER

The commander of FRG Stormwind sat attentively in his command chair, pondering the recent
events. A specialist in the Intelligence Division, he was well suited for this sort of
work. He had been trained to identify and destroy threats to the Emperor's Hammer on
sight. But he was equally aware that this was a new type of threat—a threat from within.
He passively wondered why he, the BUDR of the Bureau of Operations, had been assigned to
spearhead this mission, rather than, say, INT Versklavung. He decided that his FRG was
better equipped to deal with the firepower of these traitors than the Versklavung was.
The Versklavung, like most Interdictors, was equipped with a single squadron, while the
Stormwind was equipped with four.

"Sir," his communications officer said calmly, "we are receiving a transmission from
INTOPS."

"Very good," said the director. "On screen." An image of the BRLR of the Internal
Operations Branch appeared on the screen. "Branch leader," the director acknowledged.
"Have you something to report?"

"Yes, sir," replied the BRLR. "My branch has discovered that one of the critical
commerce centers of the Corporate Division is to be attacked."

"When?" asked the director.

"Tomorrow. The Supreme Director has ordered you to intervene. I'm transmitting the orders
and coordinates to you now."

"Received," said the director, glancing at the console in front of him. "We're on our way
now." The screen went black as the director motioned for the communications officer to
end the transmission. The director silently noted how quickly this new ID officer was
learning his characteristic gestures.

"Helm," commanded the director, "lay in a course for these coordinates...."

MISSION SUMMARY AND WALKTHROUGH

Protect the CD base from attack.

MISSION 4:
Main Subgroup Involved: Infiltrator Wing

TEASER

The room was completely black, with one exception. An old communications console in the
corner of the bay had been activated, and its pale blue light now shone on the two pilots
who stood before it.

"Do you understand your orders?" asked the man whose face was speaking to them on the
console.

"Yes, sir," replied the senior of the two pilots. "We are to destroy all the Rebels and
Imperials involved in this mission, and provide support to the resistance fighters."

"Very good," said the man crisply. "Get to it then." His face was replaced with an image
of the Imperial symbol, with the text "TRANMISSION TERMINATED" flashing in front of it.

MISSION SUMMARY AND WALKTHROUGH

Just make sure that at the end of the mission, the bad guys end up dead. ;-) Don't get
confused; STRKC Andromeda and all its starfighters are traitorous. T/D Wraith is loyal.

MISSION 5:
Main Subgroups Involved: TIE Corps, Intelligence Division

TEASER

At the conference table of the ISD Challenge were seated eight people. COM Darklord was
at the head, WC Corran Horn at the opposite end, and the six CMDRs on either side of the
table.

"I have just been informed of a new threat to the Emperor's Hammer," the Commodore began.
"A threat, not from Rebels or pirates, but from within. A significant group of Imperials
has decided to resist the authority of the Emperor's Hammer."

As Darklord continued to explain the situation to his subordinates, an alarm sounded
throughout the ship. "What's going on?" asked Darklord through the communications device
in front of him.

"A number of Intelligence Division starfighters have dropped out of hyperspace and are
setting up for attack runs on the Challenge!" reported a frenzied voice on the other end
of the line.

"Have all pilots report to their starfighters," responded Darklord "That goes for you,
too," he reminded the six CMDRs. All six hurried to their starfighters, while Darklord
and Corran Horn calmly walked onto the bridge and prepared for battle.

MISSION SUMMARY AND WALKTHROUGH

Pay attention to the dialog at the beginning of the mission. The ISD Challenge is not
really traitorous; in reality, the whole mission is a sham. Destroy all the attacking
vessels (except, of course, yourself).

MISSION 6:
Main Subgroup Involved: Intelligence Division

TEASER

The intelligence officer sat in front of his empty conference table, the lights dimmed to
a 20% level. He was awaiting the results of his recent bogus orders to attack the ISD
Challenge. His executive officer walked through the door. "Well?" asked the commander.

The XO shook his head. "Some of our intel pilots didn't fall for it. Apparently, our
efforts would have succeeded, if it weren't for the efforts of one particular pilot...
the pilot of Wraith 1-1."

The commander cursed mildly, then thought for a moment. "Wraith 1-1...that's that former
Corinthian pilot who was supposed to be the first target of the resistance movement,
isn't it?" The XO nodded curtly. "Do you know he's been at every single one of our
failed operations?" This time, the XO didn't need to nod. The commander knew he knew.
"I think we've underestimated this one. If we ever see him again...we need to make doubly
sure to kill him right away."

"Agreed," said the XO.

Suddenly, the sensors officer came running into the room, look worried. "Sirs!" he said.
"We've just detected a sizeable complement of TIE Corps fighters heading our way. I think
we've been discovered."

The commander swore again. "Very well. Have all pilots get into defense formation. Have
all gunners report to their stations."

"Aye, sir," said the sensor technician, hastily leaving the room to attend to his
business.

"Well," said the XO. "You may get the chance to take out that TC pilot sooner than you
thought."

The commander nodded grimly. "That's what I'm worried about."

MISSION SUMMARY AND WALKTHROUGH

This is not a particularly difficult mission. Disable the Interdictor and protect the
Challenge.

MISSION 7:
Main Subgroup Involved: Imperial Senate

TEASER

PLT/5 Senate seemed to mark time anxiously in space, as though awaiting the assailment
of some as yet unseen foe. Inside the platform were the xxx senators of the Imperial
Senate. True, it is conceivable that they could have been relocated, but now, it was not
at all certain that anyone was safe anywhere.

The platform was flanked by the ISD Challenge and several of its starfighters. Farther
away, about two light years, was an Interdictor, hoping to cripple any assault force en
route to the Senate. Still more distant was another defense force en route to protect
the Senate, but that force would not arrive for another thirty-six hours—thirty-six hours
which simply weren't available.

"Detecting a disturbance on sensors," announced the sensors operator on PLT/5 Senate.
"It appears to be a large traitor attack force."

On the main screen, they saw the anxiously awaited assault force exiting hyperspace: two
Imperial Star Destroyers and four Modified Corvettes.

"We seem to be slightly outgunned," noted one of the pilots.

MISSION SUMMARY AND WALKTHROUGH

Use your rockets sparingly, as you don't have enough to take down the shields of both
enemy ISDs and destroy all the M/CRVs.

MISSION 8: Last Stand
Main Subgroups Involved: TIE Corps, Intelligence Division, Inflitrator Wing, Dark
Brotherhood

TEASER

"The end of this battle is nearing," said the powerful Dark Jedi master to his young
apprentice. The Jedi had taken effective (albeit furtive) control of the resistance
movement almost as soon as the INT Corinthian had begun it. "Our dwindling forces cannot
stand up against the might of the Emperor's Hammer at this rate."

"We could retreat—regroup," suggested the apprentice. He trailed off as the more wisened
Jedi shook his head in disapproval.

"No," he said. "That would merely allow them time to destroy us. And if not them, then
the New Republic. We must make one great stand against the Emperor's Hammer. They may be
able to withstand our individual attacks, but a combined attack on Aurora Prime...." The
apprentice smiled and marveled at his tutor's wisdom. "Have all our remaining forces
converge at Aurora Prime in forty-eight hours."

Meanwhile, in the Great Hall on Eos...

"There is a disturbance in the Force," said Grandmaster Firefox to .... "There is no
doubt; the traitors are headed this way." He stopped speaking for a moment and gazed out
the window over the barren landscape of Eos. "Alert Grand Admiral Ronin to prepare the
forces for battle."

Two days later...

The skies of Aurora Prime were dotted with ships from all walks of the Emperor's Hammer.
Three capital ships orbited the planet vigilantly. The Imperial Star Destroyer Challenge,
now a veteran of the battle against the traitors, represented the TIE Corps. The
Victory-class Star Destroyer Indomitable was filled with Sith fighters from the Dark
Brotherhood. The Nebulon-B Frigate Banchee had been sent on behalf of the Infiltrator
Wing, and was now filled with the best pilots the IW had to offer.

"Our long-range contacts report an incoming traitorous battle fleet," announced COM
Darklord over the open communications channels. "All forces, prepare for battle."

As he spoke this last sentence, three traitorous starships exited hyperspace: ISD
Warrior, ESC Brotherhood's Reach, and FRG Steadfast. Starfighters began pouring out of
their hangar bays immediately.

MISSION SUMMARY AND WALKTHROUGH

Disable the three enemy starships whenever you can. Also watch out for enemy starfighters
that might attack you or the Challenge.
