    COL Phalk Sturm



    This is another clear example of how to ruin an otherwise brilliant battle. Plotline is great, briefings and preliminaries are excellent as well. The missions have a nice variety of roles and crafts, and allow player to choose either bombing or dogfighting in most of the missions. Until you reach mission 4. If you happen to opt for the space superiority role in a T/A, it will take ages to finish those 2 ISDs and 1 CRS, and you'd probably end up overwhelmed by literally endless, (sometimes 10 waves) of different starfighters with advanced missiles. Then, if you choose the GUN, forget about rockets, and it's all about those little caliber torps that barely will peel off the paint of the mighty enemy warships. And in the end, after you have completed your role of obliterating 1 CRS and 2 ISDs without losing any on your side, -manned by blind gunners with the initiative of a space slug-, there will be literally 10 waves of T/A with adv. missiles to jog about. Believe me, dogfighting T/As in a GUN is anything but entertaining. Frustrating and poorly planned. It's the same thing all over again in subsequent missions. The author probably had the idea of massive fleet battles and starfighters, but ended up like a brawl at the docks. Avoid this spoiled promising project. A shame.

    Normally I don't submit reviews for the early battles, but this one is terrible. Plot? Heh, what's that? Oh, you want fair odds? Not possible. Hey, how about a crappy battle? Oh yeah, we got one right here. Only complete morons or TC junkies should bother.

    Worst pattle i even tried to play. I gave up in middle because of T/Fs destroying ISD single handely and haviing to wait 20 minutes to repeat the mission.

    This was the worst battle i've ever flown. In mission 4, you have 7, count um, 7 ISDs and they launch two flights of fighters who die immediatly, even on easy. Your poor ISDs cannot even defend themselves efficiently. An enemt tie fighter killed one ISD on its own. Just an example of how bad this was. I wanna cry just thinking about my experience playing it.....

    It is really not that bad. Although I flew one of the newer versions of this battle so it may be better now.

    A somewhat average battle, although I like the use of ISDs. My only problem was Mission 4 (like everyone else). Taking down the CRS is the easy part and perhaps even destroying the enemy ISDs aint that hard. The only problem is that the fighters sucked at protecting the friendly ISDs and the friendly ISDs sucked at defending themselves.

    One of the worst battle ever, and it includes the worst mission ever (Mission 4). You've got to do everything with almost nothing. Forget about your wingmen, they're just a bit more intelligent than an auto-pilot. This battle should've never been approved and needs a major overhaul... Besides, giving your own battle a rating of 4 to get a higher overall rating ain't a good idea...

    Good battle up to mission 4. That mission is completly wrong in so many ways. ISD not shooting at attackers, 6 T/I and 6 Gun against 2 ISD, 1 Mon cal and Wave after wave of shielded T/I, Bombers, Fighters and T/A. not to mention that after the Cap ships are dead...the fighter cover you had (or what is left of it) leaves you to fight and defend the ships on your own. At least if we increased the number of ships on our side...might make a litl emore sense. I mean, there are 3 ISDs on our side and 1 squadron of fighters total to protect them all...never would happen.

    I thought it was great, sure it was ultra hard - I had to do it on easy. There were tons of Rebel craft against a bunch of crappy TIEs and Gunboats - fix these problems and it will be a fabulous battle.

    I am really sorry my battle is so difficult :( However I did manage to pass it without a problem so I don't fully understand what's going on... The battle is not perfect, but as my ex - CMDR The_Z said, it was quite nice and easy... I hope someone will somehow fix this...

    Mission 4 is too hard. Some loosy gunboats and unshielded fighters against tons of shielded enemy craft, dumb AI of own craft and finally after 1 day of trying nearly at the end (only 5 T/A to destroy) the Intrepid crashed into another ISD and was destroyed disabling me to complete the mission. Otherwise it would be a great battle. Sorry.

    I loved the use of so many Star Destroyers, even though they did nothing. i have to agree it was really hard, especailly with dumb AI. as for troubles with cap ships, just get the shields down and then ion cannon em, easy as pie :p

    How did this battle get certified?! Maybe the missions should actually be possible to complete. Besides watching your own back, and your squad's, you gotta protect your cap ships, cause the interception team is too dumb to do it. It'd also be nice to have enough warheads to take out the cap ships, and maybe possible to complete it with positive point values! This is the worst battle that anyone could ever dream up.

    It's a shame that the last few missions ruin the battle... Suggestion: You might want to actually make the 'easy' setting easy.. While I'm not the greatest pilot, I shouldn't lose all of my fighters within the first 45 seconds of an engagement...going up agaist 5 mon cal cruisers is hard enough...3 sqdns of fighters gunning for me is a little much...

    Mission 3: Objectives to keep ISD Vanguard and Grey Wolf intact are implemented incorrectly. They are set as 'exist' goals instead of 'prevent [destruction of]' type goals.

    Mission 4: Flight paths of the starships are 2D and thus put them on a collision course. This is noticable with the Rebel CRS and ISD Nemo, which collide after about 7 minutes. All of the friendly ISDs with the exception of the Intrepid do not have targets specified.

    Mission 5: Losing Scarlet Fleet ISDs gives you bonus points due to badly configured goals. INT Home One has no orders.

    Mission 6: The ASF Star Destroyers do not fire at attacking Rebel craft.

    The craft types are wrong in the goals screen. And funny how TRN 2 tries to dock with the nav buoy to repair it...

    1] Make sure you have the EH Ship Patch for XvT installed
    2] Double click the .EHM file, the EH Battle Launcher will install the battle

    5] Create a new pilot and fly the Imperial training missions
    Mission 1
    ISD Interpid awaits vessels carrying archive databanks from nearby planets. Cobra Squadron flying modified Tie Interceptors must protect the cargo vessels and ISD Interpid.
    Mission 2
    Rebels are trying to steal our archive databanks. ISD Interpid entered an asteroid field while waiting for ISD Grey Wolf and ISD Vanguard. Cobra Squadron must protect Interpid until rest of ASF arrives.
    Mission 3
    ASF is returning to one of EH stations with archive databanks, but suddenly they come out of hyperspace! Rebel Interdictor, two Cruisers and three Corvvetes are waiting for us! It's a trap! All ASF ships must survive and destroy one cruiser, corrvete and interdictor.
    Mission 4
    After safe return, imperial officers find the information rebels didin't want us to see - it is a report sent shortly before Emperor Palpatine's death by Vice Admiral Gornejz from Scarlet Fleet that consists of five star destroyers!!! This fleet is stationed in Galaxy, known as the Milky Way. ASF has been dispatched to find Scarlet Fleet and convince it to join ASF!
    Mission 5
    Scarlet Fleet and ASF stop near Kessel to make some navigation calculations. Unfortunetaly Rebel strike force arrives. All rebel cruisers must be destroyed. All ASF ships and at least 75% of Scarlet Fleet ships must survive!!!
    Mission 6
    Rests of Rebel strike force strike at our Star Destroyers. Suddenly, something completly unexpected happens . . . .
