The best of the whole Rion's saga. This battle is well balanced and although the plotline is a somewhat scarce, the briefings are decent, and the missions themselves are both challenging, yet with excellent balance, as well as fun to fly. I am not a big fan of flying alphabet fighters, but in this battle I reconciled with the concept behind the IW. A must for those into the itch of flying rebel traitorous starfighters.
A fun mission! There's not a lot going on as far as story is concerned. But it's enjoyable and easy to fly. If you're new to XvT, this is a good one to get comfortable with
I've never understood the appeal of the IW, so maybe I'm not the right person to review IW missions, but I don't understand the point of missions where TC pilots fly rebel alphabet fighters against advanced TIE varieties and Imperial capital ships. It doesn't make sense to me.
This battle is very hard and the missions are a little confusing. But I like to kill unshielded Ties with a Rebel fighter. What bugs me is that the player is often at a disadvantage, and you may have to quit the mission with enemies around you just to survive the mission. Be very careful with enemy turbo lasers.
After playing a couple of the previous battles in this series and reading this ones reviews, I was expecting an utterly awful battle. However, it wasn't half as bad as people have said, and most of the time I enjoyed flying it.
Come on another one? If the first ones were not bad enough. I tell you the AI needs to be improved. Having your wingmen die on the first pass is ridiculous. Either that or change the amount of groups and waves.
Another one of these battles that crash your soundcard by to many MissleLock warnings being played. Some people should start thinking of some nice plots instead of making one-sided slaughters like this one.
Mission 4: The IW forces start firing immediately, making the appearance of a truce pointless. Plot continuity: The INT Sword 'trapping' the Fear after it hypered out in Mission 3 is not explained (it wasn't present in the previous mission and the briefing assumes it was there).
