Nice introductory mission, indeed. Plot is logical and interesting and mission themselves seems to be clear of errors and things like capships with fighter orders that we all like so much. The only problem is the last mission - I will never understand why forcing bombers to flee in "defend capship" type mission could be considered "failure".

Most of the missions were completely trivial. The exceptions are the mine-clearing mission, which is extremely difficult and fairly pointless (I had to use invincibility, which of course made it trivial) and the final battle, which is actually not too bad, although it would be nice if the ISD would return fire when attacked.

I *really* enjoyed this battle quite a bit. The Mission Compedium is so overrun with battles that only use the superships(T/A, T/D and MIS) that it was an *incredible* breath of fresh air to fly my old classics again. Nothing feels better than the feeling you get after taking on a minefield in a TIE ;) Mission creators should learn something from this battle, that you can use the more basic ships and still have the same amount, if not a *ton* more, of fun

The plot line is interesting, the briefings are well done, and most of the missions are fun to play so it’s a shame that with the rest of the battle so good, it ruined by the worst mission I’ve ever played. The last mission is so bad that I’m giving this battle 1.5 points lower than I would have otherwise. There is no reason for the insane jump in difficulty in the end. I tried it on hard without reinforcements and I couldn’t pass. I tried on hard with reinforcements and I couldn’t pass. I tried it on medium without reinforcements and I couldn’t pass. I tried it on medium with reinforcements and I couldn’t pass. Finally I beat it on easy without reinforcements. If I can’t even beat it on medium with reinforcements it’s probably too hard of a mission for a battle in which I beat the entirety of the other missions on hard with no aid. That last mission shouldn’t have been and I’m sorry to see a good battle go down in flames like this. I’m recommending it marginally, but you might not get past that last mission. I give it a 2.90 (rounded up to a 3 for purposes of the EH review scale.)

Minefield + TIE Fighter = @#*&^#$!! (that was me screaming at the mines after repeating the mission for the 30th time :)) Reminds me of the nightmare-ish original TIE B5M1....

Nice plotline and a good introduction to the EH. The first missions are fairly easy, and you just can't pass up the thrill of taking on a minefield in a TIE Fighter.

Very Simplistic. Many missions only have a couple of flight groups. Briefings don't add up to much.

Good battle, not too difficult and as it's been said it gives you a good idea on the EH history. I would normally give it a 4, but considering this is my first high score ever, it gets a 5 :)

As the author said, a good introduction to the the EH and TC. I must say I liked this battle, though the first few missions were pretty easy. Keep up good work Tom!

TITLE: JOINING THE HEROES
CREATOR: FM/LT Tomaas Banys/Crusader 1-3/Wing XIII/ISD Grey Wolf
SOFTWARE: TIE Fighter (any)

This is something like a battle introducing the Emperor's Hammer and TIE Corps to those who aren't familiar with us yet. The missions are relatively simple and it is possible to complete the battle on hard with 1 or 2 tries, though it ain't that easy then...
And, it introduces a bit of information about the ASF, GW, Wing XIII and EH/TC in general. It also shows up the difference between EH and the conservative imperial navy of post-Endor times.
Btw, it is my first TIE battle so don't be mad at me when you find something not very polished. Enjoy!

PLOTLINE & DESCRIPTION:

"Commander?" They awaken you. Yes, you remember the voice. It is the flight officer aboard your ship. The ship had a name, but endless days of your poor existence have smeared over the memories in your head. How long has it been here, in the middle of Outer Rim Nowhere? You can't remember, but long enough.
After the battle of Endor, you find yourself a bit bored... stationed aboard a M/FRG at the edges of the galaxy, flying endless patrols... this is not what it used to be during the good old days. However, you are given a chance of changing it. Soon, now...

MISSION 1 - A quiet patrol mission
Fly in a "slightly damaged" gunboat and dogfight with one of EH pilots.

You found what you want. Well, scoring another kill was easy, but not as easy as you expected. And the EH pilot didn't go too hard after you. Those men are just like your good mates during the days of glory, days of the Empire! But you're nothing now. You don't really know who you are anymore.
A lone, but strong thought keeps drilling your head. Maybe you could join the glorious EH forces? They keep telling they fight for peace and order, just like your old squadron comrades did. And they seem to have the neccessary technology and skills...
Wait... LT Wolfmaster is there, right? Let's go meet him. Nobody will stop you - you have a leave and drinks to order at the nearby planet cantina.

MISSION 2 - Leave / Meeting the Crusaders
You take your repaired gunboat on a meeting with the Crusader Squadron of the EH. They will provide you with jump coordinates that will take you deep in EH territory. There is no going back.

Ah... a test, right? Most of the cadets have some experience, but you have something more. Don't waste your time and complete the task.

MISSION 3 - Mineclearing
One of tests aboard PLT Daedalus. Clear a small minefield.

Finally! Some action. You tried agressor squad training for a few times. You can still remember dogfighting techniques. And now, flying a yet better fighter, you will surely prove that "Wolfmaster" that you're better than he is. And, there will be his commander as well. If you impress the brass, maybe you'll get your own flight? Who knows...

MISSION 4 - A test of combat
What was intended to be a small mock 4 on 2 with the Crusaders turns out to be a rebel attack. It can be thwarted with little effort though.

Ah, there are some rebel pests nearby. They can't pose a threat to us and therefore are ignored. "Why?" You ask yourself this question. The EH doesn't need the destruction of this convoy and there are some more important jobs to do. But, you know that M/FRG Rage is dispatched there to frighten the rebs off. And you won't let them alone. You have made friends with some cadets and you think the flight officer likes you. Well, let's give it a try and nail some rebels!

MISSION 5 - Destruction of a rebel convoy
While awaitin squadron assignment, you help to destroy a small rebel convoy heading for a base we destroyed not very long ago. Destroying the rebels would be a good thing to put in your records, maybe allowing a promotion to LT...

A patrol. You're bored again, but you'll finally catch some sleep. And maybe something will happen?

MISSION 6 - CAP around PLT/1 Daedalus
A quiet patrol with trouble coming not from rebel forces this time...

Alarm bells keep ringing and you drop your breakfast. What's this? Your new ship, ISD Grey Wolf is attacked? That's nonsense. Who would dare? The rebels? Taking out ISDs ain't that easy. But wait! If they really attack us, I can score some new kills, you think. Glory for the Emperor's Hammer! You quickly rush to the hangar to jump into your fighter before your new mates will do the same. You have to be first.

MISSION 7 - Scramble!
You have arrived to the Grey Wolf and found assigned to the Odins, a great squadron of the ASF. Now defend your mothership from a rebel retaliatory strike! The Grey Wolf must be defended at all costs!

Good hunting.
