A poorly balanced mission due to the fact that the Howlrunner excels in head to head combat due to its laser fire rate and all your ally AI can do on a harder difficulty is fight head to head. This means your fighters get shredded very quickly, there is only one wave and no reinforcements meaning you are left to mop everything by yourself. Do not try to take head to heads with the enemy or you will get evaporated.
I think it's a pretty solid "destroy the base and its fighter escort" kind of mission. Would be better without the destroy 100% fighter escort part (which I never care for), but I do appreciate the extra umph at the end where you get counter-attacked - that's unique and a nice touch. Those I-7s can really swarm on Hard!
A nice deep strike mission, with the addition of the I-7 Howlrunner which is a pleasant surprise. The mission is simple and fast as it could be. Kill the fighters, sink the Platform. Go home. But in practice, it becomes a bit more complicated. T/Ds are loaded only with Advanced Torpedoes (again budget cuts or pinchpenny designers) instead of proper rockets. This means it will take a while more to disable and then destroy the PLT. And worst of all, some I7s never appear, and they have to be completely destroyed in order to finish the mission. Frustrating, since the mission is a good one.

Not exactly a bug, but even on hard, it's possible to complete wipe out the initial opposition by the five minute mark if you take out the platform first. You then have an awkward 5 minutes of wondering if there's a mission bug preventing you from killing all the enemies before some more finally hyper in. Perhaps the reinforcements could come when you destroy the platform OR when the time has elapsed.

However, the missions, when put together, will tell the story of the EH invasion of a neighbouring sector. Introduction ------------ The capture of their weapons convoy by rebellious elements has been a major blow to the Corporate Authority of Starbase Alpha. It took the Blin government only two days to replace the entire staff of the Starbase. An unexpected bonus indeed. Unfortunately, Colonel Deerv Xustro was among those who were executed for their failure to protect the convoy. The Tactical Office has assessed the new situation, and decided a small surgical strike against a Blin armory is in order. We will not be using any trickery this time: one flight of TIE Advanceds and one flight of TIE Defenders will be dispatched to deal with the enemy armory and its defenses.
