Not a bad set of missions. There were a few sore spots with Mission 5, as you may have been able to tell from other reviews. If you take out the STRKC early, then it just turns into a waiting game. Otherwise, the battle is really well put together.

This is another clear example of how a jewel of a battle can be spoiled because some poor technical choices. Flying the A-9 is always a pleasure. The nimble yet deadly fighter has dogfighting capabilities second to none, and you will enjoy this excellently crafted battle mission after mission. The plotline is good and the briefings are also solidly made. Until you reach mission 5. A nightmare. There is a TUG which is ordered to board a SHU that will take 10 minutes or more to dock, and what's worse, in the first attempts player would not even notice it's there to capture the Shuttle. A real mess that could have been easily prevented, and certainly ruined the whole battle. I strongly concur with Dempsey about this. Makes the battle a very tricky and understandably, a detestable one. Too bad, because it could have been a golden classic.

Contrary to other reviewers I thoroughly detest this battle. The A-9B is not suitable to be flown by the player as it is way too weak against the opponents given. And that's on easy. In M5, the unshielded TUG passes within firing range of a STRKC, luckily on easy you can take out its guns, but that won't work on medium or hard. In the end I just resorted to unlimited waves, any battle that takes me well over 3 hours to complete on easy is a bad one.

This was indeed a great battle. Flying the A-9 Vigilance Interceptor was a lot of fun and took some getting used to. The A-9 has a very fast turning rate, and it got dizzy in the first mission from turning so quickly. I'm thankful that I got to fly the A-9 in every mission (instead of switching to other craft) because by the last mission, I had gotten the hang of the craft and its quirks (like the unified laser system). I'm not sure why the A-9 was unshielded in some missions, but that made the missions all the more complex.

Outstanding battle from Ender, with even an excellent wavpack featuring which is maybe the most spooky voice you'll ever heard (with Mr. Vader's permission). All missions are carefully built for them to fit perfectly into the plot and the final one deserves a special recognition; assaulting the TV!! Now that was something new indeed! :D On top of all this, the battle was quite challenging and if you play your cards well you'll find plenty of oportunities to get insanely high scores given the excellent flying performance of the A-9b and its little yet handful ion cannon, not to mention the myriad of possible Bonus Goals. No less than a 5 for this little jewel! ^^

Throughout: Rebel FG names appear in hexadecimal.

Mission 1: Yevethan tug circles around instead of 'flying home' at its last waypoint.

Mission 5: The FC's Tug leaves the M/CRV Majestic's hangar too early, before the ship has come to a stop near the SHU Protector. This, combined with the Tug's slow speed causes the boarding operation to take well over 10 minutes.

Description
-----------
Made for the FCHG Battle competition of 2008. Placed at this timeframe, it falls just before and
during the "Black Fleet Crisis" storyline of Star Wars.
Part of a series about all the different elite squadrons on the Order of Battle.

Story Line
----------
Mission 1: Over the last decade and a half, the Yevetha of N'zoth have developed their technical
capabilities in isolation. They've also established the Duskhan League, which has grown to encompass
thirteen worlds. The impressive Yevethan fleet has been dubbed the Black Fleet and includes many
Imperial craft.
Now the Yevetha are starting come out of their isolation and they seem to look around for what is
their best option: ally themselves to the inept New Republic or to the remains of the Galactic
Empire.
In order to have them make the right choice, GA Cyric has dispatched the Grand Master of the Dark
Brotherhood to the N'zoth system for negotiations. The elite Tau Squadron naturally escorts the
Grand Master.

Mission 2: GA Cyric is highly displeased to hear that the Duskhan League has not only decided to
ally itself with the New Republic but also allowed the New Republic's recently founded 5th Fleet
to attempt to kill his ambassador.
However, communications from the Duskhan League claim that the ambush was completely orchestrated
by the New Republic GN Solo and that the Yevetha had nothing to do with it.
Meanwhile the M-CRV Tripidium has received a distress signal from a "Corasgh" colony nearby. It
seems to be under attack by the 5th Fleet and we will try to drive the attackers off. We could use
some allies in the region... whoever they may be.

Mission 3: GA Cyric was pleased with our report that the New Republic and Duskhan League do not
agree on their objectives in the Koornacht Cluster and were even seen fighting each other. Whatever
conflict the Corasgh and the Yevetha may have does not concern the Fleet Commander.
Although it escaped, we were able to trace the hyperjump path of the MC-90 Venture. Because of its
damages it could never have gotten very far. Tau Squadron will join up with TIE Corps squadrons from
the SSD Avenger to finish the Venture off.
The destruction of their brand new Cruiser will make clear to the New Republic leadership that the
Emperor's Hammer has not given up on this Sector.

Mission 4: As a sign of their good will, the Yevetha have shared Intel on the route of a large New
Republic 5th Fleet convoy. Furthermore: they have offered a Vitory Star Destroyer to join us in an
ambush upon it.
Although the Fleet Command views the offer with suspicion, they have dispatched Tau Squadron to the
agreed location. Keep an eye on our "allies" in this operation - they might use their Destroyer
against you together with the Rebels.
If the deal is as the Duskhan League promises it to be, we will however be a lot further in our
objectives for the Koornacht Cluster. This Cluster is not too far from our own Minos Cluster and
an united force of the Emperor's Hammer and the Yevetha will certainly keep the New Republic out of
the area.

Mission 5: Even though their priority seemed to be to destroy the Corasgh base instead of the New
Republic convoy, the Yevetha seem to have come through on their promises.
However, we have found out about a planned meeting between the Yevetha Darama (leader) Nil Spaar
and General Etahn A'baht of the New Republic 5th Fleet and it would seem the Yevetha are playing
both sides at the same time.
Tau Squadron will disrupt the meeting and capture Nil Spaar, after which he will be meeting Grand
Master Czulvang instead. It is hoped the Grand Master will be able to probe Nil Spaar's mind deep
enough to find out what the real deal is.

Mission 6: We will probably never know what our Fleet Commander and the Yevethan Viceroy talked
about, but the Yevetha seem to have come over to our side fully. As such Grand Master Cyric has
ordered us to assist the Duskhan League in a daring operation.
The Yevetha will assault a Holonet station in the Bav System and capture it. Our own Intelligence
Division will then hack into the Holonet to obtain control over "Channel One" - the New Republic
Galaxy-wide emergency channel. Nil Spaar will then read a declaration that can be received by all
systems of the Galaxy.
Nil Spaar has promised that his declaration will sway more systems towards our cause and create
turmoil within the New Republic. If he does not keep up his side of the deal, you are to execute
him on the spot.
