This is a duplicate of TIE-TC 226, which I personally prefer, but it's pretty close; you'll likely prefer whichever platform you like better. My feelings about it are much the same; terrific plot, lots of fun, all the usual joy that a Frodo battle delivers. Maybe a touch imbalanced in places if you're not the a great XWA pilot, but still very much worth playing.

Fun but challenging set of missions. Well written plot and one that keeps your interest and desire to fly the next mission to see what happens next. Good mix of enemies with some very challenging sections that will likely need a second (or third or fourth) attempt to work out the strategy but they're all achievable on normal.

I agree completely with what AD Stryker said before me, story wise this gets an easy 5/5. And most missions are not bad on easy, once you learn them, but mission 3 is NOT well balanced for easy. Easy is to be that most are able to complete it without cheats but taking on 8 waves of fighters, sometime 4 fighters per wave in an unshielded T/F without backup is NOT the definition of what most can accomplish. That being a requirement on Hard or Medium I understand, but not on easy.

Great story line and mission design. Loved this battle!

Well-written, cohesive story that keeps you entertained! Some of the missions can be a little tedious, but it's written well enough that you're compelled to continue forwards.

On storyline alone, this mission warrants a 5/5. However, gameplay-wise it's lacking that pizzazz that earns such a score. The score is further lowered by the tedious inspection and mine-destroying missions, and the gauntlet of pirares in a battered T/F that is a nightmare to complete without Invulnerability, even on Easy.

So, this is a weird one. Its story-telling is excellent (5/5). Mission ideas are original and varied. Ship selection and story progression makes perfect sense and you are pulled in. I wanted to know more. By the end of it all you feel rewarded. There are some shortcomings though and the gameplay within the missions themselves has its flaws. Keeping me from giving it a 5. I did struggle with the first missionn and it was not helped by the fact that you start wiht a 4 minute waiting time. In SP, XWA should have had the alt+t that TIE Fighter has. Or, in the last mission the amount of capital ships is disproportionate to the fighters. There should have been more fighters forcing you to flee. This battle gets a resounding 4 (closer to 4.5). The first time you play it, for maximum enjoyment, play it on Medium (or easy), depending on your skill. If you want to achieve a high score let that be your second attempt onwards. And for those who read this far, without giving spoilers, in any of the missions whereby you have to enter a hangar, be sure to 'double click' on that space bar. I'll be sure to come back and attempt to break some high scores here.

I struggled with the first mission so much. Dropped it down to easy and it still took a couple more hours and dozens of tries before I could beat it. But then I finally beat it. And boom, you get launched into a story. A chaotic but riveting story. Each mission from that point on was quite unique and while they took me a couple tries each were not frustrating with the slow pace of the first mission. The first mission was trying to just have a pilot doing normal duties for a while before something unexpected occurs, but it gets very boring the more and more you have to repeat that mission.

Really enjoyed that there was a cohesive narrative around which the entire mission sequence was built. You don't see a lot of specific narratives like that, so thought it was pretty cool. The mission design was... okay. Tedious in spots, but the story often made up for it.

Well that's the first XWA-TC I did, for the sake of the competition and I am NOT disappointed. The weakest link was perhaps the very first mission with a dull start. It would be more interesting while rebels came out while the craft you had to inspect were still around. Perhaps stirr the situation a little. Mission 3 was a curious adaptation of your standard training mission of let's kill 1, 2, 3, 4.. enemies. It got heck of a dogfight later on. The other four missions of this battle are really well made, and the plot of this battle seems unique and very interesting. One flaw is that the friendly AI seems really not very clever and get themselves killed easily. Not that it matters much given you are all on your own in the second half anyway.

Some of this was difficult for the sake of being difficult. I enjoyed the heck out of the story, it definitely got a chuckle out of me. I will say this, I am firmly in the 'I hate ion cannons' camp. That having been said, when you fail and you read the tips, it genuinely will help you get through some of these tougher missions. Also, if you enjoy getting some time in some old school TIE's, this is the battle for you.

This was an awesome battle - I had to replay missions again and again because they were difficult (and not "lets just throw tons of ships with missiles at you difficult" either, proper hard). Poor LT Doralt though :P

Awful. Flying on invul is useless because of the stupid bug in XWA which still means you can get disabled. Also mission critical shuttles etc often just hang around and then hyper off miles away. This battle is highly recommended - as one to avoid.

An awesome battle of excellent quality! This one is a must play and has a really good story. Some of my favourite bits were the mission where you take on the executioner pirates alone in your Tie and also where the scientists rescue you. I love those guys and the mission where they are investigating the magnetic asteroids, hope we see them again somewhere! Thanks for creating memorable characters too Frodo like the pirate boss :D

Now this is my kind of mission, though I'm usually not keen to fly the basic fighters with all their quirks I do like a well constructed series of missions that fit a storyline well. This fits that bill exactly. The mission with the SPC is chalenging to say the least and "invul" is a bonus for the frustrated pilot. A fine battle and one everyone should fly 5 points to the Hobbit.

The plot is excellent! The missions are so well designed that I can't concieve another way to do it. The difficulty is challenging but not impossible, giving even the opportunity to hunt some highscores (In the end I hadn't the patience though). It lacks some more humour strikes here and there but the history as a whole could have driven anybody nuts if caught in the skin of poor LT Doralt. Strange way to join the ID, indeed. If he was such a brilliant pilot, signing for Praetorian could have been more secure... A 5 for you this time, Insane Halfling! Amazing work!

I've never been a big fan of XWA, I still haven't figured out how to change my flying style from the earlier games to this one. But, this is a good XWA mission (despite capital ships giving me a pain.)

Now, this is how plot development should be done. The mission briefings and debriefings really fleshed out this battle well. Very nice.

This is a good all around battle. Good plot and variety of missions. One of the better XWA battles I've played.

Flew this the first time in the SSL's and did not do so good on it that time, this time I did better. Some of the missions are tricky and have you trying it over and over to get it right. I must say out of all the missions I have flown this has to be one of the best.

COL Flint Darkstar

Probably the best plotline out of Frodo's work. It has a little Jack Bauer type of feel to it, IMO. Ion cannons are a pain in the rear in a T/F, shields or not :P It felt sort of satisfying to complete the last mission and exit hyperspace to the panoramic view of the SSD...beautiful battle!

An amazing storyline... And a good challenging battle, I think its one of few battles where I find myself enjoying the fictional penmanship more than the battle!

This is a nice storyline around the accidental death of a ID agent by a TC pilot involving the former SDIR FA Aseret Thunderhawk. This battle features a nice set of challenging missions. My only disapointment with the battle is that praetorian should have been involved since we are the protectors of the SDIR. Note: this was used for one of the SSL finals (2005 I think- it all blurs togeather after awhile);p.

I liked the story very much. But first mission it would not harm to give us a shielded Interceptor....that's because it's very difficult to stay alive with those X-Wings in hard, especially in XWA in which lasers are fast and it's harder to evade than TIE. I'm not very fond of completing battles in other leves besides hard. And the wait in the beginning of the first mission was just too long...it's kind of annoying when you have to fly the mission several times ;)

Great humorous plot. And the moral of the story is... don't be late for briefings :P

Well written plot and battle well planned. the first mision gives quite a surprise and the following missions give a good test of your piloting skills.
