Mission #1 features some cap ship destruction in an X-Wing - not my favorite (although the craft there to help disable the CRL and FRG certainly help). The rest of the battle averages out to pretty good.

This battle is somewhat more enjoyable than the ones that are strictly about dogfighting with no objective challenge. The only issue I had was where the objectives were sensitive to failing due to poor AI. Shuttles are more than happy to dock with the wrong freighters even after inspecting them.

Fairly nice battle, continuation of XW-TC 7. It seems like the first mission of this one should be the missing second mission of XW-TC 7. The missions are well balanced, without neverending waves of fighters and the goals are quite diverse for what X-Wing offers as a platform. It was sad to blast all that beer though!

Installation:
----------------------
note: the original mission files will be overwritten, back up any files with the same names.

X-Wing CD Installation:
1. Download and install XCD from the SCO Site (http://sco.minos.net), files archive, the edittors section. (6k.) This will let you run custom missions. There is a full guide available at the SCO site as well.
2. Put the *.BRF and *.XWI files in your new "C:\Mission" folder and use XCD to start X-Wing CD. Create a new pilot based on your pin and the battle's type and name. For example: 2883tc01.plt if I would be flying the first XW-TC battle.
3. Fly the first 4 "Historical Combat" missions for the "X-Wing".

X-Wing 95/Disk Installation:
1. Run full install of the game so the mission files will be on your hard drive. The game will take it's mission information by preference from the harddisc, but might still give a warning. In that case - Ignore.
2. Locate your X-W Directory and open the folder labeled "Mission", or "Classic" in X-W95. Copy the *.xwi, *.brf files of this custom battle into it.
3. Create a new pilot based on your pin and the battle's type and name. For example: 2883tc01.plt if I would be flying the first XW-TC battle.
3. Fly the first 4 "Historical Combat" missions for the "X-Wing".

NOTE
-------------------
1. You need X-W CD or '95, as far as i know no other patches are needed. I cannot assure it will run on X-W disk as it might exceed its maximum craft amounts. You'd need the B-Wing and Imperial Pursuit add-ons to play.

Description
-----------
This battle is part of a series of free missions and now battles about each of the squadrons in the ASF doing missions following their squadron objective in their assigned craft. Each mission tries to give a feel and a bit of history of each of the Squadrons. All the storylines of the missions are interconnected and have the ASF Squadron join together against a common foe. In timeline this battle takes place just after the free missions.

Part 2 of a Trilogy about Intruder Squadron.

Story Line
----------

MISSION 1: "The prisoners we made at that weapons transfer are still being interrogated by our specialists of the ID. Up to now they are still not being convinced by the methods of persuation we've been using so we still do not know where they got their warheads.
Meanwhile the ISDII Hammer has found the one freighter that escaped us earlier on. Its still on course and... undefended. While we wait for the interrogation to pay off we will capture this ship as well. Perhaps they'll be able to tell us more."

MISSION 2: "The easy freighter we wanted to capture appeared to be a vicious ambush to destroy the ISDII Hammer. It was attacked by quite a large force of NR-SSF craft, including a Calamari Cruiser. Luckily we were able to repel the attack - but apparently it was just a first wave. Two more NR-SSF Frigates have appeared and are attacking the ISDII Hammer, with more fighters and starships to follow. Our Commodore has as such decided that it would be best if we made a tactical withdrawal as not to risk loosing the star destroyer completely. Intruder Squadron will cover the ISDII Hammer's retreat and try to destroy the attackers, Flights 2 and 3 will take care of the fighter threats while the B-Ws of flight 1 will attempt to destroy the attacking frigates."

MISSION 3: "With the ISDII Hammer back safely at Pyrath for repairs, Intruder squadron can concentrate on its mission again: We have found another convoy coming from the Genko System. This will most likely be another of the warhead shipments we've been trying to trace. A-Wings from Flight 3 will inspect the convoy, after which B-Wings from Flight 1 will disable the freighters for capture by Shuttles. To make sure this all goes as planned, destroy all freighters not carrying any warheads as soon as possible. We only need the warheads, not a shipment of stuffed Ewok toys for example. X-Wings from Flight 2 will provide cover and destroy the escorting frigate of the convoy. Flights 1 and 3 will join them on this task the moment their own has been accomplished. Do not concentrate too much on the fighters unless to defend our shuttles."

MISSION 4: "The infamous interrogation techniques of the Intelligence Division paid off once more: The freighter crews we caught spilled their beans in record time and lead us straight to a NR-SSF factory, deep in NR territory. This could be a likely source for the warheads found lately. Intruder Squadron will hyper in and destroy the factory. Do not let any of its crew or visitors escape: Because the factory lies so far from our base of operations, we cannot provide you with any support or capturing operations. Do keep an eye out though, if you receive any information that this might not be the factory we were looking for; bring back this data after completing your primary mission."
