Section 5: Chapter 5: The Chain of Command

The Chain of Command is an important but often overlooked aspect of the Hammer’s Fist organization. All too often, a newly appointed leader forgets that he is part of a complex chain that includes several superior officers over him and proceeds to do many things on his own that would have be better discussed beforehand. It is also important that you make sure those under you properly understand the chain of command as well, so that disputes and other issues are settled as easily as possible.

When there are disputes, such as a member having a problem with another member, they should use the chain of command when trying to reach a resolution. For example, a Fire Team Member should first approach his or her Fire Team Leader with the issue. If the scope of the problem is too high for the Fire Team Leader to clear up, he will refer the problem up one more step to the Detachment Leader, and so forth. A member should never skip someone in the chain of command unless the dispute is with his or her direct superior.

It is also important that you know your place in the chain of command. Never try to make decisions that should be made by someone in a higher position, and if you do notice a member skipping someone in the chain of command for a dispute you should refer him or her to the proper person.

The chain of command is as follows: (listed from lowest to highest)

  • Fire Team Member
  • Fire Team Leader
  • Detachment Leader
  • Company Commander
  • Battalion Commander
  • Brigade Commander
  • Commander of Internet Affairs
  • Commander of Training
  • Commander of Operations
  • Vice Prefect of the Legion
  • Prefect of the Legion
* Staff officers (such as Special Operations Command Assistants and other specialized positions) do not have any leadership authority unless otherwise noted. As such, they are not included in the Chain of Command.
