Commodore HA Dempsey reporting
Report ID: H.AD.003
Report date: February 22, 2015
Dempsey walked through the corridors of the Imperial-II class Star Destroyer Hammer. The massive ship felt empty, running on almost a skeleton crew. Still, it was running, which was a good thing. The enemy was closing in on all sides, and this Star Destroyer was the last bastion between order and chaos.
She made her way back to the bridge. Soon, she would put her pilots to the test. The challenge was nearly completed, soon she would pit pilot against pilot in an effort to claim her favor. One would win, many would suffer the consequences of loss.
But such was the life of a TIE Corps pilot.
Yet another slow week. I wonder why. Pretty much the only flying news is several LoCs for the usual bunch, and me taking 3 high scores in the TIE Corps on Patrol competition.
On the competition front, I'm gonna implement some minor changes. Specifically, I will end the Hammer Pilot of the Month competition in its current form, and split it up into a SP and a MP competition. The MP pilots are racking up so many points, which is great, that pilots without MP options have no chance of winning, so that's gotta change. The current standings are below. I may be in the lead there, but that's just for bragging rights!
I'm also finalizing my thoughts on the non-flying competition I have planned. One of these will be trivia, and to give all pilots an equal chance, I'll need to come up with a way to see how long it takes for you to submit your answers. But not from the moment the competition begins, due to timezones and stuff. I have a plan, I'll just need a wee bit of time for that. Or more precisely, the time has already been found, it's just a matter of testing the code. If all goes well, we can start thinking about adding the code for general use.
It's also my sad duty to announce the resignation of MAJ Krennel from Alpha Squadron's command position. He has asked for a transfer to the Reserves as he can no longer find sufficient time for the TIE Corps. Real life gets in the way once again. I wish him all the best and hope he will one day return to us. Fortunately for Alpha, Flight II Flight Leader, MAJ Iceman, has accepted reassignment to fill the empty command spot. Congrats on the new job, Major!
This does however raise a concern. Currently, out of 8 Flight Leader positions on this ship, half of them remain empty. This is unacceptable. As such - anyone who has a desire to leave a Flight member position behind to become Flight Leader in one of the Hammer squadrons can apply - send an email to myself, the SOO and TCCOM with your application.
Flying wise, this ship could do better. Again, myself and LC Clark were the only pilots to submit a pilotfile to the SOO for the TIE Corps on Patrol competition. This is not good, we're getting outgunned by the Warrior pilots. I urge all pilots who own a copy of any of the flight sims to fly at least one of the assigned free missions, and I especially urge the squadron commanders to lead by example here!
With the end of February in sight, former COM Woody has decided to start processing on the January Ship Evaluation, despite not all squadron evaluations having been submitted. I am anxious to see how many and what medals will come of this, as my role in this one was merely for my own squadron. A whole Ship Evaluation is new to me, so let's see what happens! The next ship evaluations are due no later than March 6th. This gives squadron commanders almost a week to complete them, which should be enough time. If you are late, I shall be very cross with you, as the English say.
Let's make next week a good week folks, and prepare yourself for the Hammer's March Mayhem!
PS: The counter of my stint as Commodore stands at two weeks. All pilots who gambled on "less than two week's" in the ship pool have now forfeited their wagers. All pilots who are still in will do the same as the entire pot will be mine. There will be no gambling on this ship!
If you wish to take on any of the following positions, send an application to the Squadron Commander (if applicable) and Commodore:

Dempsey's Weekly Riddles
Every week, the report will have a riddle. First pilot to send the correct answer to the mailing list wins. Each victory earns you an IS-BR. Unless it's a 5th victory, you then get a IS-SR. Unless it's a 10th victory, which gives you an IS-GR. A 25th victory will give you an IS-PR!
This week's riddle: It goes in dry and comes out wet. The longer it stays in, the stronger it gets.
Last week's winner: LCM Doc
Current standings: VA Woody: 2; HA Bonini, COL La'an, LC Clark, CPT Fenn, LCM Doc: 1
Hammer on Recon
Submit your StarConflict screenshots to me. For Domination and Beacon Hunt, the highest number of captures wins. For Team Battle and Combat recon, the highest number of kills wins. Submissions not earning a medal will earn an activity point. First place wins an IS-SW, 2nd a IS-BW (with 2 submissions or more, otherwise IS-BW for first). Submissions earn 4 pts for 1st, 3 pts for 2nd, 2 pts for 3rd and 1 pt for others. At the end of the month, the top 3 MP flyiers will earn an IS-GW, IS-SW and IS-BW. 10 activity points wins an IS-BW and every 50th activity point will earn an IS-SW.

Current February totals:
Hammer Pilot of the Month
One point per mission flown and LoC earned as per the killboards.

Another week ends, and for the first time this year I have a few days off work and I won't be spending them in bed because I am sick, as I did the last two weeks I had time off. It almost sucks, as now I'll have to find some other way to keep myself busy. Although I doubt that will be too much of a problem...
Until next week!
