Commodore's Thoughts

We are now over a week into the Raise the Flag Competition and things are going well. We have however, awoken the beast, so to speak, since two of their heavy hitters have taken it upon themselves to close the gap in scoring, taking the second and third places overall.

However, worrying is my job, not yours. I've delegated that duty to WC Frown, who will take to it with diligence. We need to keep our blinders on and fly like it's going out of style.

Let's focus on the positive. We have 1662 points as of this moment, nearly a gap of 1000 points on the Hammer. I'd be remiss if I didn't mention our own big guns, therefore a good job goes out to GN Yoda who has, as usual, made this competition his focus, and is leading all pilots by a wide margin. I'd like to point out that I know what it's like to face Yoda in a competition like this, but I've never had the honour of being on the right side of the confrontation. It's nice.

I'd like to add that our activity is much more spread out throughout the ship than our opponent. Currently we have over 15 participants activity wise that I know of, so we're looking at a really good percentage over the course of the month. Special mention to La'an, Plif, Mark, Flelm, Nolij and Gilad for all breaking the 100 point mark, or almost, this week along with Yoda and I.

The fiction bonus competition ends today at midnight zulu. Its almost too late, so get your submissions in if you haven't already. The Graphics bonus competition has just begun however, the goal is to create a banner of any kind for a TC Unit. If you make one for the Warrior or Wing II and it wins, I will put it up.

Also not to be forgotten, MAJ Wraith joined us from the reserves and already flew several XWA battles. Well done and welcome back Major! Glad you came to join the fight.

Where we talk to our beloved Wing Commander, Colonel Gilbert H. Frown, who has an RTF update:

Q1: Thanks for the update. Are you worried about the Hammer's recent surge?

A1: A little bit. But all worrying duties were delegated to me from the Commodore, so that's normal. It is my job to remind everyone that we need to focus on keeping up our activity, and making sure the Hammer tastes the bowels of defeat!

Q2: Oh my... That's a little gross...

A2: That's not a question. I admire your ability to continue to forget this is a Q & A.

Q3: So did you make a fiction submission?

A3: I did. Well sort of. While the Commodore was busy flying I made one in his name. The protagonist is a good looking stern faced Wing Commander, who is thoroughly respected by his crew, and admired by his enemies.

Q4: So on an unrelated note... While I was flying for RTF...err... My wingman died...

A4: .... Get out.


Conclusion

I'm proud of the work we've been doing so far in RTF, and we all have to dig deep and make sure we keep it up and not give life to our opponent. By working together and following Yoda's example we can win this. If you have not participated yet, there's no time like the present. It's not too late until July 1st.

And remember, the strongest enemy is an underestimated one.
