  •   Commander's notes

Well, this was another crazy week. For starters, welcome to no less than three new pilots to Delta. LT Landon Cruise has accepted the position of Flight III Flight Leader, and Colonel Jacob van Nowak came with him. We were also joined by SL Neo Roswell, which means we are now a full squadron. As such - there's a new squadron competition coming. It starts right after this e-mail and lasts until next week's report. Check out the Battle of the Flights section below!

The mailing list is even more swamped than last week. Don't ask me how, but my inbox is being flooded!

The mailing list is buzzing with new games news. Star Conflict seems to be taking off, there's word of a game called Star Wars Attack Squadrons, and recently we've been given word of the musical score for TIE Fighter in several new incarnations.

Probably the biggest news this week is the prospect of commissioning a second Star Destroyer, which would be something unprecedented in my time in this club. Almost all the spots in the current squadrons are full, and with two ships we could also finally bring back the position of Wing Commander. The TCCOM has sent out a general call to all on - if it comes that far - which of the Star Destroyers on the OoB to recommission. If you haven't given him your two cents worth, best do it!

Next up: Colonel La'an, commander of Lambda squadron, has issued a general challenge to all other squadrons regarding Star Conflict multi-player activity. I'm currently taking inventory to see if we have people playing SC and see if it's a good idea to accept this challenge. Let's hope so, a real squadron vs. squadron competition has been way too long ago.

With the arrival of our new Flight Leader, I've been BSF'ing a lot of pilotfiles as he seems to have made it his personal goal to beat LC Elwood the Brave for Pilot of the Month. So far, so good, but there's still a week left. Let's see who's going to win!

The Wiki Quest competition is entering its last week. See the Wiki Quest section below.

Grats to all recipients of January's Medal of Communications: CM Fenn, MAJ Clark, CPT Kronar, and COL BubbaX.

Lastly, MAJ John T. Clark has scored the most points in the weekly trivia for the fourth week in a row now. Because one can only win three times in a row, he's going to miss out on the victory this week though, but it's going to be interesting to see how long his winning streak is going to last! Also - I'd like to extend my congratulations to CM Shado Fenn who has breached the barrier of ONE THOUSAND points earned in trivia. As before, this earns him an extra Iron Star with Silver Ribbon for this majestous accomplishment!

      In the headlines this week

  • MoCs awarded for January
  • New pilots in Delta: SL Neo Roswell, COL Jacob van Nowak and LT Landon Cruise
  • Flight III has a new Flight Leader: LT Landon Cruise
  • The commissioning of a second Star Destroyer is getting closer
  • Keep track of the mailing list - I can't :)

  •   Joke of the week

      Delta's Wiki Quest

The task ahead is simple, my apprentices: below you will find two articles on (the English version of) wikipedia, and two articles on Wookieepedia, the Star Wars wiki. The task for both is to get from one to the other in as few clicks as possible. Whoever scores the least amount of clicks wins.

Medals to be won: an IS-BR for every weekly winner of each quest, and an IS-SR and IS-BR for the overall winner/runner-up at the end of the month.

Each click used gives you a 1 point penalty from your week's starting total of 10 points, so everyone begins with 40 points. At the end of the month: whoever scores the lowest number of points has won!

  • Last week's results
Last chance to go for the first prize!

  • Current Standings (wiki)
Ras Kronar (14p), John T. Clark (19p), Shado Fenn (18p)

  • Current standings (wookiee)
Ras Kronar (15p), John T. Clark (21p), Shado Fenn (16p)

    This week's quests:

  • Wikipedia Quest: from Ford Motor Company to Dung Beetle
  • Wookieepedia Quest: from Yuuzhan Vong to Geonosis

  •   Delta's Battle of the Flights

To celebrate becoming a full squadron, I offer you a major Flight-against-Flight competition.
  • for this competitions sake, Shado Fenn's efforts will count for Flight II, Quincy Nelson's will count for Flight III.
Otherwise they wouldn't have a fair chance. If COL Jade participates, his efforts will count towards the Flight
        with the least points...
  • there's a small difference between the competition scoring on the Competitions Center and here, what is below will
        count.

Medals to be won: an IS-BR for the per competition winner (IS-BW for the flying one). There's also an IS-BR for the Flight Leader of the winning Flight, and an IS-BR for the participants of the winning Flights.

  • part 1
Flying competition! Each mission counts as 1, each mission highscore gets an bonus point. Each MP engagement is
2 pts, with 1 extra point for a win. If you fly TIE-F 111 you get a bonus point, and there's an extra 2 bonus points for
the pilot with the highest score in this mission.

  • part 2
Nerdness! I'll post 15 images, just let me know via e-mail what they are!

  • part 3
Don't quote me on that! I'll post 15 quotes via e-mail Just mail me which movies they are from.

For each subcompetition: 5 points for the winner, 4 points for #2, and so on.

  •   Important Competitions

Competitions are the livelihood of this thing we do for fun. I encourage all of you to enter as many competitions as you want to/can. And just let me know about it! Don't forget to check out the website for more information.

  • Delta's Weekly Trivia
Each day of the week (Mon-Fri) you will receive an email with a trivia
question, same as before. 3 pts for the first correct answer, 2 pts for
second and 1 pt for 3rd. At the end of the week, the one with the
most points wins the shiny. As usual, there's extra shinies available for
    accumulating set amounts of points.

  • Delta's Wiki Quest
Each report in February: 2/2, 9/2, 16/2, 23/2) will hold a wiki challenge for you: one on Wikipedia and one
on Wookieepedia. I will give you two random articles, and the object of the game is to get from one to the
other in as few clicks as possible. Each week there will be a winner on each wiki.
Each week you will score points: 10 minus the number of clicks you submitted. At the end of the month, the
one with the highest score overall wins. Submissions are accepted until the next report is released.

  • Delta's Battle of the Flights
To celebrate being once again a full sized squadron, I offer you the Battle of the Flights where Flight is
pitted against Flight in 3 fiendish competitions. All entries will earn points for you and for your Flight!

  • Ace of the TIE Corps
Each mission flown during a month will count towards your score, with shinies for the top 3 pilots.
At the end of the year, the TC's Top Gun will win a rare IS-PW!

  • MP Ace of the TIE Corps
Each multiplayer victory flown during a month will count towards your score, with shinies for the top 3 pilots.
At the end of the year, the TC's Top Gun will win a rare IS-PW!

  • Star Conflict's Beacon Hunt
This will be a test of your skill to capture as many beacons as you can in one round with a victory.
In layman's terms, in a Beacon Hunt mode game, capture the beacon as many times as you can in one round.
