STRATEGIC OPERATIONS OFFICER
Report #21, 12 December 2013

Opening Comments

Well done to all MoC awardees, the previous two months backlog has now been awarded pending a handful more as the last MSE comes in. The last 3 weeks have continued a very positive trend as SP/MP activity has continued to increase and further new officers - particularly LTs - have boosted our numbers. Beta is beginning to make a firm mark despite its youth, so it will be interesting to see how the next Karana phase pans out in the New Year.

As the festive period approaches I fully expect things to die down, so hopefully everyone will enter 2014 with a positive outlook and a willingness to contribute, ready to kick off a new chapter. Of course the TC's work goes on, much of it behind the scenes, so if there are any queries or concerns myself and Dan will be ready to assist if we can, or at the very least force Zosite to handle it!

Several MB difficulties have been mentioned, while TCPM updates will progress with a little more alacrity now that I actually have the time to devote attention to it. I'll be working with the TCCOM and as before CMDRs will be offering input when required. No major changes will occur overnight and the process will be progressive to ensure we deliver a valuable and useful document by the end of the process.

Fleet Status

A busy period as per the last few months, so good to see some consistency as we proceed towards the end of the year. Epsilon's 3rd flight remains leaderless so anyone looking for progression or further promotion has a golden opportunity to do so. Applicants should ensure that if they have an interest they contact Epsilon's CMDR, being mindful of what the job requires.

Weekly Orders

Recent Raptor activity has been light-moderate, with occasional outbreaks of activity along the contested sytems spinward of the Hammer. Our squadrons have continued their efforts to interdict the border regions, with only limited success due to the navigational issues in the region, in particular the extensive radiation being pumped out from the neutron star at Gh-54s. It may be that the Raptors are using such regional features to mask their deployments, until we level the playing field and map the areas ourselves we can't afford to take our attention off these potential operating areas.

To that end Delta and Gamma will continue their recon operations at pre-assigned intervals, with Beta at short notice to support. Epsilon will act as duty CAP, with Alpha covering personnel escort as the TCCOM brings the task group together to discuss strategic planning for the next phase of operations. I will be returning to my previous location and maintaining back-channel communications with NR border forces in order to ensure this conflict does not spill across into a wider regional conflict.

Conclusion

Good effort from all, but we're not quite finished with 2013 yet,

In Service,

FA La'an, SOO
ISD Hammer
