STRATEGIC OPERATIONS OFFICER
Report #16, 27 August 2013

Opening Comments

We're coming to the close of what has been a very quiet month, so hopefully time enough has passed that we can look forward to a more energetic September. Hopefully we can complete the testing of the next battle for Karana and move that monolithic narrative on just one more step. In the meantime, all oustanding MoCs have been awarded and I am checking to ensure no CMDR medals have been missed. Unfortunately an HD issue led to my medal records disappearing into the metaphorical abyss, leaving me to trawl through never-ending streams of e-mails - and believe me when I say there are a lot. Regardless, normal service has resumed and MSEs will be due in next week, so nows the time for any last efforts or activity in the final days of August.

We're all remaining hopeful for progress in the database migration that will take place in the near future, Zosite will be continuing his sterling efforts following his leave and with whatever support we can offer to him. Speaking of migration, numerous former officers have been sighted wandering the corridors of the Hammer looking increasingly dazed and confused. Most of them should be identifiable by their generally low standard of personal hygiene, and occasional mutterings including acronyms such as ASF/ATF/BGCOM or non-existent squadron names like Cyclone/Tau/Praetorian, or in extreme cases Valkyrie... Pay them no heed and resist the urge to throw them food or coinage, they'll die off eventually.

Fleet Status

A quiet fortnight with little to report, work continues towards Karana and eventual database migration. In the meantime, work goes on.

Weekly Orders

The Hammer has remained at high anchor above the Caris Alpha facility while final repairs are conducted following the damage incurred by saboteurs. Agents of the fleet commissariat uncovered a number of petty offences within the ship's company, including a number of obscura and narcotic users, as well as some more debased and definitively non-regulation activities within the embarked Stormtrooper barracks... Suffice to say a number of personnel transfers resulted and the offending crew were removed from our rosters. Detailed searches failed to uncover further evidence of sabotage and we can only assume that the original perpetrator was lost within the attack itself and was thus one of the 18 lost personnel. All were trusted and veteran officers and ratings which makes the level of infiltration difficult to accept, but we must all remain vigilant and watch those around us for signs of treachery.

Heightened patrols and barrack inspections will be continuing until further evidence is uncovered, our loan squadrons remain on station and we can expect a leisurely pace, escalating as we approach our departure date. Until that point all officers are to ensure their parts of ship and squadron/flight assets are at high readiness for tasking.

A final reminder to all personnel, a number of other vessels are sharing the facility at this point and we can expect a number of incidents during shore leave - the Hammer represents the elite of the fleet and will therefore be the target of every other pilot, officer and crewman looking to prove a point. While the Phoenix is unlikely to muster any sort of actual effort, certain individuals will likely leave our guys with alcohol poisoning merely as collateral damage. The ISD Colossus and VSD Aggressor have significant contingents of personnel ashore and are more likely to contribute to the general melee. At the end of the day I want to see the Hammer's reputation maintained, but not at the cost of losing pilots to the butchers in our sickbay. Message ends.

Conclusion

All pilots are to continue their vigilance and stay active,

In Service,

FA La'an, SOO
