STRATEGIC OPERATIONS OFFICER
Report #15, 13 August 2013

Opening Comments

Following the drama of the last Karana phase things have been considerably quieter, hopefully due to an abundance of you all taking summer leaves and breaks away from the evils of modern IT. If not, then I look to your CMDRs to spur you on - the next Karana flight phase will be a TIE battle, as those who have paid attention to Delta CMDRs reports will hopefully have noted. I'm looking forward to getting more of that high level activity on the kill board once again.

We're waiting on a final MSE to come in, then all MoCs that are outstanding will be awarded. All oustanding CMDR medals are about to be awarded, so other than that there should be no admin outstanding. If this is not the case then it may be that something has slipped through the system, so bring it to our attention! I'll be continuing to report on a fortnightly basis until activity picks up or we enter a new Karana phase.

Fleet Status

I'm happy to see and welcome LCM Matthew Weeks back to the arms of the TC, he's been polishing his desk on the Phoenix for too long and eventually grown tired of Frodo's war stories. If there any more you guys are in contact with then please make the effort to advertise the fact that we are, as the movie says, still here...

Weekly Orders

The Hammer is bound for the repair yards at Caris Alpha following the damage we incurred earlier this morning. I would remind you all that this briefing is classified and TC eyes only. The crew were told that a shorting shield generator during our last transition from hyperspace blew out, earthing and igniting an auxiliary fuel tank aft of the main hangar. This was not the case... Internal sensors in the power supply lines detected a short and locked down. When our techs arrived to check the problem they disturbed another person in the act of sabotaging an important power relay.

Suffice to say we don't know the precise details at this stage, but it appears that the saboteur dealt with our techies and then blew the relay, igniting the fuel tanks adjacent to the compartment. Casualties are unclear at this stage due to the scale and temperature of the blaze that followed. The fire was suppressed and put out by damage control parties after 14 minutes, but we are still missing 18 personnel. We have to presume the saboteur remains at large and is likely the same person who has been feeding information to the Void Raptors. Patrols have been increased, all crew are undergoing random stops and searches, but we have to assume our quarry is a capable slicer and operator. Vigilance is our watchword, and at present all fighters and the hangar are being scoured for signs of further tampering.

In the meantime the ISDII Immortal has been cycled to the front to cover our absence, Epsilon and Alpha squadrons will be moving forward to support them for a 2-week period, while the ISDII Challenge will benefit from Gamma and Delta. Remaining squadrons will bolster the defence of the repair yards. The agents of the fleet commissariat will be boarding us in 3 hours to conduct a sweep and check of ALL personnel, co-operate with them in all areas and ensure your subordinates do the same. All suspicious behaviour is to be reported, and off-duty personnel are to remain within their messes.

Security level is SEVERE, with alert status at EXCEPTIONAL. Until we can guarantee our own flight operations our CAP is being flown by Crossbow and Shield squadrons of the ISDII Relentless pending ETA at Caris in 12 hours. The wider region remains quiet of Void Raptor at this stage, but this action may represent a change in tactics for them, we should all be wary.

Conclusion

All pilots are to maintain strict security protocols and remain within their squadron messes and ready rooms until further notice.

FA La'an, SOO
