Sin Squadron
SIN WEEKLY SQUADRON REPORT #10
SIN CMDR: CPT Hav Antiel
REPORT DATE: 6 August 2017
SQUADRON COMMANDER'S CORNER
Promotions! New pilots! Orders of the Vanguard galore! It's an exciting time to be a Sinner.

First and foremost, I'd like to give a hearty welcome to MAJ Spiffy the Chicken who joins us as Sin 1-4. Spiffy is the first avian member of Sin squadron. Wait. He might not be an actual chicken, but he's sure to help us put up big numbers on the MP kill boards. I hope he can give MAJ Earnim Branet a run for his money for the weekly Price of Sin IS-BW.

More good news: I was thrilled to receive a promotion to captain this afternoon. It's long been one of my aspirations to don the triple red and blue rank bars of a captain. It's something I think about every time I wear my Imperial officer track jacket. In fact, I even have a 3 3/4' scale Star Wars figure of a nondescript Imperial officer on my desk wearing the captain rank on his duty uniform. Thanks to RA Pete Mitchell for the kind words in his promotion recommendation. At the moment, there are only three active captains in the TIE Corps. That makes captain the most uncommon line rank among active pilots. What's the most common? General! With his promotion, Sin alumni Plif became the 11th active general in the TC. Cheers!

CLOSING COMMENTS
This is a time of change for the TIE Corps. FA Pellaeon has begun his term as TCCOM, and our former COM RA Pete Mitchell has been selected as the new SOO. August also brings some changes to Sin Squadron; LT stevenpowell has gone AWOL, but we welcome MAJ Spiffy the Chicken from Sigma. It's always sad to see SLs and LTs go inactive before they have begun to thrive as TC members, but it's not for lack of effort that stevenpowell failed to shine; I wasn't the first Sin CMDR to offer to help the LT complete the IWATS core.

What we ask of our new recruits has been a point of discussion the last few weeks. When I joined the TC in 2014, the IWATS Core was a necessary component to earn a slot in an active squadron. That's part of what attracted me to the TC in the first place. Should we require more from our newbies? Or should we focus on creating engaging opportunities for participation? Boy, what I wouldn't give for a new Star Wars flight sim...

For Sin,
